  1. Timber rarely uses language when I am in his line of sight. When I am upstairs, he chatters away which sounds like much the same situation you have with Dorian. When I am out of sight, like in the bathroom or in another room where he can't see me, he will vocalize. While we are together, he whistles and makes his other range of sounds, but he saves language for trying to get me to come to him it seems. When several of us are in the room with him, he will sometimes use language also, but it seems to be an attention getting thing. Like if we are talking to each other and not to him, he will try to get in the conversation and draw attention to himself. Wish I could read his mind!
  2. Ha, no clue! We also get more excited over new toys etc. Timber is so change averse... He gets aggravated when I clean up his pile of hulls and paper shreddings from the day. Move a toy from one spot to another in the cage and he looks like he has lost his best friend. Put new toy in cage and I've tried to mate him with Satan. Ah well...
  3. Timber doesn't really have any interesting/funny sayings. He did learn a new phrase that I am able to make out now. When I am in the bathroom (near his cage) he and I chat and whistle back and forth. The other day, he said "what'd you say" clear as a bell when I was in the bathroom (so apt because I was talking to him). My husband is not hearing like he used to, so that is a phrase he hears often now. He also start making a new sound (hard to describe) and I couldn't figure out where he got it. Then I was watching the news and realized what it was. When President Trump signs those executive orders, you can hear all the camera flashes going in the background. That was the sound! Perfect mimic.
  4. Sounds like it would be worth a try! It took weeks for Timber to decide to move from his rust bucket to his palace. I was fortunate enough to have room to let them sit side by side until he made the transition.
  5. So pleased your dreams are coming true, but moving is such a job. Good luck and God bless!

    What a pretty baby!
  7. Love the "what the heck are you doing now" look...
  8. I was able to view the video from both links. What a sweet girl!
  9. I don't know of any breeders either. I'm in the middle of the country in a rural area and there are none around here. I rehomed my Timber. There are others on the forum who will have suggestions when they see your post, so hang in there!
  10. What a blessing and what an inspiring story! Your perseverance and God's grace made it possible. So glad you are ALL home safe
  11. Great pics! They do seem to love hanging upside down from whatever is available. Gotta love that "cardboard joy" too!
  12. That's great news! I'm sure you are feeling so relieved...
  13. I was shocked and saddened to see this! Dave was such a great help to so many. Peace and prayers to his loved ones.
  14. Happy birthday Corky! Hope your wife is well and your computer fixed Ray!
  15. I feel you pain. Timber isn't a nut lover either. Feathers and parts checked, he is definitely a grey. He will eat a nut occasionally, but isn't crazy about them. Even sunflower seeds leave him cold.
  16. Congratulations on your beautiful new baby! What a sweetheart. The human heart has the capacity for much love. You will never forget Django, and he will always have a place in your heart. That doesn't mean there is not plenty of love for a new baby, and is in no way a betrayal. God bless
  17. Hello and welcome to you and Jason! He's a beautiful grey
  18. Timber is a thin cardboard lover also. I try to keep some sort of box going for his shredding pleasure. The mess is worth the satisfaction it provides them!
  19. There are programs you can download that allow you to edit and upload clips from your security cam. I had one when I was working. I'm thinking the software I used was Blue Iris. I was never very good at editing though! My camera was low end, and the audio was not great quality. The camera placement was not conducive to a really clear picture either. It served its purpose well, I could hear Timber and see what he was doing from work well enough, but I wasn't thrilled with the video I uploaded here. If I could have gotten the camera closer to Timber's cage it would have been better, but that wasn't realistic for every day use.
  20. That's great! Not like the great outdoors, as you say, but as close as you can get without a harness
  21. Yikes! I'm careful about a teflon ban, but reminders are good.
  22. LOL Loved the video! Zoe is a great talker.
