  1. What a great video! I have to say I would have never guessed that wasn't a "human" coughing and blowing. What a treat he is.
  2. Hello and welcome to you and your flock! As to how greys tell the difference in human gender, I really don't know. That's an interesting theory you mentioned.
  3. No I haven't seen it but I'm not surprised! Timber still has his ongoing affair with one of his bells (thank God, better than my head).
  4. Sounds like he is making great progress! I'll stay on my side... no husband ever does. A ramp sounds look a good idea though.
  5. Hello and welcome! It sounds like you are making great progress with your new companion. Post some pics when you have a chance and keep us updated
  6. Can't beat that corrugated cardboard. Hours of grey entertainment...
  7. Great video! Thanks for posting.
  8. Hello and welcome to you and Dooble! My TAG, Timber is 9 and we still don't know if he is a he... You won't be able to tell by looking, the way to find out is bloodtesting if you need to know for sure.
  9. I honestly don't know in answer to your question about "fledgling." Hopefully someone who does will see your question. So glad to hear Poppy has "weathered the storm!"
  10. LOL! I am certainly set in my ways and can totally commiserate. In fact, I would probably have regressed to hair pulling/feather plucking/overpreening and biting by now... Hang in there!
  11. Timber has also eaten one that I accidentally left in his portion when he was sharing dinner with us. Like Sterling, I try to pick the mushrooms out. But Timber is fine and didn't seem to suffer any ill effects. It's important to remember (though I don't know if this is true of mushrooms) that foods that are bad for them can have cumulative effects (salt and sugar come immediately to mind). So, if Timber eats a bit of those types of thing I know it won't kill him, but I also know that his digestive system doesn't work like mine and things can accumulate over time and causes damage.
  12. Hello and welcome to you and Ozzy! What a beautiful baby
  13. Wow sorry to hear about the broken bones! Prayers for a successful surgery and speedy recovery.
  14. Hello and welcome to the forum! I'm so glad to see you are doing your research before getting a grey. The stickies have a lot of information.
  15. I don't cover Timber, but that is mainly because his previous owner didn't cover him. He goes to bed when we do, an like GreycieMae he fights it every step of the way (most nights). I think he sees it a game, but that's our routine. Like you, I've learned to tune out noise over the years and we sleep on the second floor, so no problems here.
  16. I hope you are right about the papers being the draw to the bottom of the cage! That would be a great resolution

Giannine, the vet says Timber is just a small TAG, but healthy. He wasn't on a great diet when I got him, but he hasn't gained a lot on a better diet. He's just... small.
  18. Great news on the bloodwork. Onward and upward

I haven't been able to find anything about the age at which they have attained full physical size, which is surprising. Timber was 5 and grown when I got him so I'm not sure. Anyone else know?
  20. That's fantastic! I needed some good news today, and seeing this was it. Kudos to you for not giving up and making a way!

Timber is 9 and weights a whopping 278 grams, so Poppy is coming right along! I don't remember the top end of the average for TAGs but I remember the bottom was 274. Timber was a bit under that when I got him.
  22. Hello and welcome to you and Dwight It's great that Dwight already knows you. It does take time for them to adjust to new surroundings though. It took about 3 months for Timber (my rehomed TAG) to get comfortable. If you read through the forum, there are some that adjust more quickly but others that take longer. Have patience and it will pay off! I suspect that if Dwight was a big talker at your dad's he will be again when he settles in.
