alfies not loud just started using words, odd time he will fly round the room being a bird and gives out some good noise then but this is now and then and only lasts seconds, the perodactyl noise, he chats away and whistles most of the day but not in a ear spliting way.

I really know how you feel and cannot add anything to help, worst part for me is there is only me no partner to blame lol, it can be a rough ride at times but when Alfie knows I'm not happy he does his cute tickle tickle and all is forgiven, I struggle to read his body language, but I do know if I need to remove him from my head or a part of furniture that is out of bounds I will get bit, I use a perch for these times but he is so good at flying from that to head/ shoulder before I can blink, the books sure dont tell you about this part, only last night I was reading how to keep them on perch/play stand, what is that about, while Alfie can fly there is no such thing as stay there, one tip which is not the best but a very small amount of plain biscuit will turn Alfie into a cag that can step up with out biting........well 3 times out of 5. But we love them and will not give up

Alfie has been great today, think being 1 suits him, he played on his play stand, came and sat on the back of sofa by me asking for tickle tickle which he was given this went on for ages, he was very close to my face and I was praying this was not another one of his tricks to get me!! We have spent ages chatting and in between all this he flew back to play stand to poop on the paper below at 3 different times, barked when he could see the dogs wanted to come in from the garden, this happened twice which I throught was pretty cool, had couple of nips but I was getting him back to cage so thats fair enough, he did not think it was such a good idear to be going back. Got some videos to put on later with him playing and chatting, happy days

welcome she is lovely, so pleased things are going well, I second Acappella's comment stuffed toys work so well, have a lovely penguin sat on top of my unit as we speak not my normal kind of decor but it really works, I dont want edges of this unit rounded off by Alfies beak which he informs me he has no control over.

Mamawise, please dont be put off by my problems, Alfie came home at 10 weeks and was such a cuddle addict, he is now getting independent and trying to push me (which he manages) we do have some lovely times aswell, read through lots on her and ask questions the guys on here have so much good advice and all own various birds, they do need alot of time to build a relation ship, introduce yourself in the introduction room and the guys will all be along with welcomes and there to answer questions, how old is your new baby?

Thank you Danmcq you will never know how much better I feel after reading that, I did start to think I had the bird from hell! as alot of posts on here tell all the nice stories or just minor problems, your earring example is just what its like but not all the time, I'm almost dancing round the room now knowing it is all fine and its not unheard of for them to try to take chunks out of any part of your body and fly in for attack. Its snowing like mad here at moment but the sun has just come out in mine and alfies world, his not a devil bird after all his NORMAL yippy, Thankyou

I would love to try the time out but getting him back in to cage is another problem using step up to me or perch he just flys, off and we both battle it out, he is a real head strong cag, there are so many times I just want to sit and cry as things seem to have gone so wrong, he was great up until he was about 9 months, since xmas he has been a real tinker, flys to me when I'm sat on sofa lands on head/shoulder as soon as I try to remove him I get bit then he flys off, when I'm stood up doing things and he flys to head i shake him off, but having said that as I'm writing this he is in cage right next to me down on lower perch asking for tickle tickle in such a sweet way, which is a routine thing every night before bed.

Hi guys, I'm still working hard with Alfie, who will be 1 on sunday, the positives are he is starting to talk well, started with hello, then tickle tickle, which he understands and asks for, we now have good boy and be a good boy, but the biting is still my biggest problem, I have been sitting with him on my landing at top of stairs with all door shut so he is unable to fly onto doors ect use a low perch with me sat on the floor, he will step up from there and have his treat and no bites but then when we return to the lounge he is back to biting if I need to remove him from somwhere, getting him back in the cage works if its tea time, he will step onto my arm while I have dish in my hand and can put him and his dish into cage, night time i turn lights off and its easy, anyother time is hell, I have very sore fingures and he has drawn blood on some occassions, my question is why is he good in small space but this training does not follow through when in our main room?.......How dare he start telling me his good boy!! the cheeck of him.

I use a smaller cage that I can carry ( bigger than budge cage), Its been a real big help, use it for trips to vets, and can take Alfie into the garden knowing he is safe from flying off into a panic and he gets sun on his back (when we get some), has water and food dishes and fits lovely on to my garden bench where we can sit together.

welcome Gemma you will find lots of good advice on here from some real experienced people. I'm still a learner. we love pictures, how old is your baby.

Now I have read all comments so yes agree keep it on for others to be made aware, remember when I was looking for my Alfie in UK found ads that sounded alot like the ones you guys are on about, makes you mad this day and age that they can still get away with it
-
I agree sounds a scam, and its sad to read going free, I say remove it.

Well its took my a couple of weeks to read all the posts on here and I feel sooooo much better Alfie is nearly one and I get bitten so many times a day its unreal, I have been getting to the point of thinking we cannot go on living together as we are not getting any nice times together, but seems I need to keep going until his about 3............only another 2 years!!!
-
I can agree with all this Alfie came home at 10 wks and I knew he would not stay the lovely little baby that he was, he will be one this month and my god what a different bird he is already, love him to bits but he sure rules my life at the moment and pushes me to the limit at times, but now he has found out after being naughty he just has to go tickle tickle in his sofest voice and he has me just where he wants me! Greys Rule!!
-
does sound a good idear will take some practice on my part i have a week off end of the month so will start then when clock wont rule our life, in the mean time I put him in smaller cage to go outside in the sun so he will be used to the cage by then, I am sure the sun makes him happy we have just come in from garden and he has been lovely.
-
Hi Guys, Well I dont know if I'm going in right direction but over the week end Alfie still been his normal self, bite bite bite , but I have been returning him to his cage which is not always easy as he just flys off! but have found allowing short bursts of time out of cage seems to work better example out for an hour then return for a while then out again, but he is so sly he has learnt to ask for tickle tickle and does it after I have give him sad face and told him NO BITE and will then sit there head down and allow me to give him head tickles even turns his head for me to do under his beak. Would like to start trying him in smaller cage for bedtime so he can go to bed earlyer in another room as his main cage is in our lounge but what worrys me about this is getting him in it and back in his other cage next morning mainly on work days when there is'nt the time to pace backwards and forwards after a flighted bird. Iv tried very hard over the wk end to read his body language and sit back and leave him alone but then he just gets into mischief so I have to move to prevent damage or he just comes to me he really is trying it on I'm sure and pushing me all the time, in the last 6 months this baby has had a total personality change but nothing has changed with what I do, I am shattered !

welcome he looks lovely, Im also new to the world of greys but you will get lots of good advice from people on here I'm sure they will be along soon
