I am sure alfie gets on my lap top after I'v gone to bed and reads what I'v said about him, every time I post on here he proves me wrong! yesterday posted on the training forum under the step up topic because needless to say having problems! today he has done at least 10 step ups during the afternoon, been upstairs with me, helped make tea (photos to follow) and we have had real nice afternoon to top it off called him over to me by cage he came first time and straight into cage for tea, no battles!!

This step up is a real problem for me and Alfie, he is now 13 months old and been with me since 10 weeks and did do step ups until around xmas time, in the end i started using a perch but even that is a battle, Iv tried all sorts of treats but he will give up having a treat if it means step up, Iv tried with dim lights, you name it i have tried but he puts his head right down so you can get no where near his abdomen, and if i keep trying i get bites and they are not the testing the surface out bites they are real bites that really hurt, the odd time I do manage to get him on my arm or hand he will not stay longer than a few seconds then flys off, I execpt I'm not going to have a cuddle muffin CAG but to be able to transfer him now and again would be good I cant even take him upstairs anymore and I used to. He talks great and loves tickle tickle but normaly through cage bars, he steps up every time to come out of cage but the moment my hand is out of cage he flys off, I have spent weeks now sitting with him trying but nothing is working I'm so fed up with being bit, using perch he still put head down so i cant get perch near him I have tried from behind him but just kills the perch, he wont play with me how ever much i try, what is going so wrong with us, last year when he was young i had him in harness outside now apart from talking we have nothing

Thanks Acappella he is fine today there s no way i would be able to get to touch the cut but it is very small and looks fine but will keep my eye on it, the odd part is alfie has always had free flight in this room and nothings changed so really dont know what he was thinking, sadly alfie is not very good and staying with me to walk round he has become a little devil since xmas, someone must of swapped my loving little baby, head strong is not the word!! but each day is a new day and I can see light at the end of the challenge guess in about 4 years lol

Thanks guys and yeah Dave you werte right was welcomed me with his normal 'good boy' this morning and breakfast eatten, sorry just not used to sitting during the evening and being able to listen to TV without 'tickle tickle' or 'Alfie good boy' ect lol, thanks again
-
re Alfie flying into patio window this afternoon, he did seem fine but tonight has not been himself, when my son came in he normaly whistles to him this never happened, he asks for tickle tickle from about 10.30 ish but has just been on his swing perch sleeping which he does not normaly do , now im looking and cant make up my mind if feathers are fluffed up more than any other time, he is on one foot so take it from that balance is fine, he never sleeps like he is at the moment before we go to bed, he has been out this evening on play stand and didn't notice anything different then am I just looking into this too much

After a short panic earlyer i can now share my proud moment, my mom came for coffee this morning and I was telling her how Alfie will tell you his name but wont do it in front of my son so its only me that has heard it, so my mom looked at Alfie and said 'whats your name' right on cue he replied 'Alfie', so sweet and very proud helps make up for the bites!
-
Thanks guys panic over, Alfie had some pellets and playing with paper , but at the age of 13 months has his first wound!! feel sad about that, guess like when our children have their first bump on their head, bless him x
-
Thank you have rang vet he said just to leave him alone in cage and keep eye on him, Alfie has moved to his swing and is perching on one foot so take it he is resting, he has been out for a while today so will be tired , cant believe after over a year he has just done this , time for coffee and calm down time for me while he rests!

Was looking forward to posting a proud moment on here today but that will have to wait, Alfie for the first time has just flown into patio door he did after short time fly from floor to play stand but has gone very quite and I put him back into cage to feel safe was able to do this without any problems which is not normal, he has also got a small cut just below where small feathers start on his head it has not bleed, once in cage I offered what we call good boy treat but he would not except this again not normal is he just in shock or should I be worried.
-
Arrrrrrh bless you for taking such good care of him, who knows what may of happened if you had not come along at just the right time x

Welcome, I remember the waiting for the home coming, seems to go on for ever, do you know when your baby will be coming home
-
These guys are great and please trust me you can never ask a stupid question, there here for the love of our birds and support us on our way and from experience calm us down when it feels like its all going so wrong, so never think twice about asking anything.

Update on Alfie - as some of you know Alfie has had problems getting his wingless human to just get it! But she is making progress, she now gets me out and just sits and lets me do my thing when I'm ready I keep her happy and fly to back of sofa where I get real close but only if she obeys my command of tickle tickle where then she will give me head rubs I'll let her go all over my head and under my chin. during the evening she thinks shes being smart by just having a lamp on then gets me to arm of sofa where I stay with lots of tickles and treats, shes sure its the dim light as before I would always fly to my play stand, I dont play her up so much now when its cage time but saying that I dont make it easy, she still has to earn me being good as she calls it. I'v heard her say shes so happy as she has not had any bad bites for ages but I still give a nip if she pushes her luck, but she says she can cope with that and backs off and doesn't keep running for the plasters! I still wont step up when she asks, the odd time I will but dont stay there for long normaly grab the treat and away I go but she keeps trying to wear me down, I may one day let her win this one but she seems to understand for now I'm happy on the back of the sofa next to her, I please her with lots of words now she was so pleased when I said Alfie and not just Al and I put words together now like Alfie good boy, she needs to know I am a good boy, and she goes really daft when I sit ontop of kitchen door going peep boo to her, all in all I think shes feeling happier seems to laugh alot at me anyway but I just laugh back!
