After just two days of putting dish of water with foot toys in it at bottom of cage Alfie is paddling in it playing with toys and has been stretching his wings out so think this may be a hit just waiting to get soaked as I sit right next to cage.
-
arrrrrh Thanks I have only tried the green grapes, but will now get some black/red never even crossed my mind to try different colours, hope he will try one would love to see him peel it
-
Thanks for that Danmck, such a shame he was having such fun and again I was the nasty one that spoilt it! He wont touch grapes yet, but clearly like bananas!
-
Can Banana skins hurt Greys? Alfie jsut managed to get hold of one and went in for the kill not sure how much he has eatten if any, but boy what a mess
-
Thank you for the nice comments, yes its a great feeling, the evenings always seem so much nicer than day time activitys, maybe its due to the way we feel all day time tasks/work ect are over and we relax.
-
Its wonderful is'nt it, well done to you, Alfie will wave and this progressed to shaking hands to the command of 'how do you do'
-
They both look sooooo cute, but if she only has one left his either yours or you have to start the long serch for another and to be honest what ever either of the birds are like now does not mean it is what they will be like in 12 months time, its the time and love that goes into these wondeful greys that gets the results, my Alfie is not the sweet baby I first brought home but he can be check out my photos from this week ' Alfie being loving', I'v had to learn to duck and dive, I'v had to learn to bear the pain of a bite when I push my luck, learn to except he can out wit me, enjoy the rewards when progress is made and except my failings when we go back a step, I have and still am spending more time with Alfie and our bonding/trust ect than I ever had to with our two dogs, good luck with your dilema cant wait to hear what you decide.

What a good idear will be giving that a try

it works I add small amount of seed some grains cooked and mixed beans but with it all mixed up Alfie has to eat some of the veg if he wants the best bits, he loves it been a real big hit.

Hi forummehta, I have no idear about age from DNA I dont think so but there are lots of people on here with great knowledge, start your question on a new thread you will get an answer

Thanks for that advice dammcq, I have a cage which I can use used it last summer to sit with Alfie in the garden but he hasn't seen it for a while so will bring it in tomorrow and start getting him used to it again
-
More stress to come Alfie is booked to go for his first health check 22nd of this month and hope to have him sexed, now the task of getting him used to smaller travel cage and the car!!
-
I'v done it guys got an appointment 22nd of this month with vet who is about half an hours drive from me, he will do a health check and blood test to sex Alfie, now to get Alfie used to smaller cage and going in the car!! Oh no more problems here we come!
-
yes danmcq I think your right, I have a week off the end of this month so will aim for then just finding one ! so anyone in UK who can recommend one local to West Midlands Worcestershire would be helpful.
-
Thanks for the link pixburgh, there's one in the UK which was intresting reading but how do you pull a feather out, sounds unforgivable, and they recommend 5, would love to know if Alfie is male or female but worried about him having to go through the stress.
-
I start reading things on the net then give up and always come back on here its so much easyer and always had good advice and support from you guys, for once this post is'nt because Alfie is being a little devil! Alfie is now 10 months old and I have know idear if he is a he or a she and have got to the point I would like to know, no real reason as he will always be Alfie my baby. I myself would not be able to remove a feather he would have my whole hand off if I even tried and I would not feel confident in trying but would a vet do it if so how much pain and stress would it cause Alfie..........and me, guess Im asking is it worth it?
-
My heart goes out to you, so sorry for sad loss
-
arrrrrh bless so glad it was a false alarm, but funny, I can picture croky sat thinkng 'wheres everyone going in such a hurry, whats going on?'
-
Just read jayd link, how sad is that, this is very worrying, and some of you may knock me but touch wood Alfie has not seen a vet since i had him, was checked by breeders vet, and I do hope I never have to use one would like to be able to control claws myself but out of intrest how often do you guys use a vet and for what reasons?
-
welcome you will find lots of help and support here they are a real helpful bunch

Hi guys after much reading on here last night I have done Alfie his first chop, its been a big hit he has eatten so much of it tonight, I read loads and then just made up my own with what i had got, a small carrott, some brocccli, parsnip, and spouts then I cooked some grains and some bean mix, mixed it all together with small amount of seed mix, what a hit it has been, now to start making it with many other things that I have read about on her.

lovely name and great picture

I haven't got loads of experience but can add I brought my Alfie home at 10 weeks Early I know but thats another story, up until xmas just gone when he was 9 months old he was so friendly and loving he is flighted, eats well ect but the last 6 weeks have become harder as he seems to have found his independence and stubbon side, the honey moon period was over and he now decides when its cuddle time, I have to plan when he can be out when before he was out most of the time but as he got older I was getting bites when trying to do things that could not involve him, I have had lots of good advice and support from the guys on this site and we are working very hard at getting to some sort of understanding and thats me understanding Alfie! I really think that the sweet baby we visit will change as time goes by they are so smart at out witting us, please dont be put off by this as Alfie has some great points he is smart (to smart at times) he will wave, turn round, shake hands, barks like the dog love tickle tickle during the evening, I went through a stage of questioning wing clip as I have great problems getting him back into cage but again we are over coming this thanks to advice on here we dim the lights and its sooooo easy, go with your gut feeling we all know life with a grey is not ment to be a walk in the park you will love him/her just takes time and lots of it.
