  1. Such a grown up girl holding her own spoon!!! She is too cute!!!
  2. Ooh good question as I am trying to figure out a way to explain that to my boyfriend for when we let Chickie be fully flighted.
  3. You poor thing...so sorry you gad to go through all that stress. I had a very bad experience with a "very reputable" bird store in my area, and, as a result, I lost my baby that I was bonding to. However, just like you, I then went out and found a reputable breeder and that made all the difference in the world! And, it brought my Chickie into my life and I know she was meant to be mine. Hopefully you will find the same happiness with your new baby even though it took heartache to get there.
  4. I'm not sure, but it looks like a Java tree playstand...so it should be ok
  5. Ha ha ha...it's just extra calcium!! . Unfortunately, when the dogs eat her pellets she throws, they get HORRIBLE gas...so I've had to limit their end or the flinging game to non-pellets.
  6. Gracie is very lucky to have you. A different parront might not have been as understanding of her independent spirit. I bet she loves you all the more for it-in her own way.
  7. Bwahahaha sure!!! Why not! you were exposed from all those wonderful military movies like full metal jacket...lol.
  8. The game is how far can I fling it and who gets to it first, the dogs or the cat?!? It's a team event!!
  9. It's not an excuse if it's true...right?? lol
  10. TOTALLY agree Aerial!! If I would have gotten other birds just to try and "prepare" myself for a grey I would have ended up with 5 or 6 probably and then not been able to afford a grey. The only birds I had growing up were budgies, but many family friends had large birds and I was always drawn to them. I had wanted a grey for years before I put my deposit down on my Chickie. I dont think past experience with other birds is required at all, really-it helps, but not required. What definitely IS required is the desire to learn everything you possibly can about what greys need and to surround yourself with he support of people that are more knowledgeable-I.e. This forum and, I am also very fortunate to have a fantastic breeder.
  11. My boyfriend has said from day one that if Chickie picks up cussing it will be from me, and, sadly, he's right!!! Lol I try to substitute poop for s@@t and flip for f@@k, etc...but I have a total potty mouth. I blame the military.
  12. That's Chickie's favorite olympic event!!! The food toss!!
  13. Thanks Nancy and Jayd!! LOVE the pic Jayd!
  14. Doug, I'm no expert, but my breeder told me that the more I bathed Chickie the better. She gets a bath almost every other day. Some days I bathe her in the kitchen sink and others she showers with me. I get her completely wet in the shower by stretching her wings out. To get her underside wet I actually hold her in my hand upside down, keeping her head out of the water obviously, and soak her that way. If she's already had a kitchen sink bath that day and I shower at night I still take her in there with me and just let her sit on her perch and have some sauna time.
  15. Chickie does the same motion, multiple times a day, just like Ellie. What I'm still unclear about is if this is an ok motion to allow, or is it something that could, later in life, lead to problems (i.e. hormonal frustration). I dont mean to sound dumb, but I'm just not sure.
  16. Miss Marco looks like she's smiling in her pic. She looks like one happy baby...congrats!!
  17. I would check eBay and craigs list for sure. I got my Chickie's cage for $75 off of craigs list.
  18. That's how I felt too! I got her aviator off ebay...actually most of her stuff come from eBay. . I wasn't sure what size would be best, but by the weight chart she was a small so that's what I got.
  19. I thought I would just explode waiting to bring my Chickie home. It's such a fun day.
  20. Oh man...that I don't remember. I would think medium, but do they give a description as far as weights or general bird size? The one I bought said it was good for greys.
