  1. We just call ourselves "animal house" or refer to our house as the zoo
  2. Petstores are an ok route to go, as long as you do your research first so you know what to look for. We could help you come up with a list of important stuff if that's the easiest route for you to go. I tried both routes, unfortunately. My first CAG, Buttons, I lost to PVD, which was not the store's fault, however they didn't handle the situation well enough for me to pursue a baby with them again. I then called local pet shops and vets and asked if they knew of any breeders, and that's how I found my FABULOUS breeder. She raised an exceptionally good little baby for me and is still always available to me for questions. Really, either route you pick, the main thing is to have an idea ahead of time of what you're looking for and what possible red flags may be...and there's tons of wonderful people here that can help you be informed about what to look for.
  3. Ha ha ha...so true! Why would they stop doing it when it gets such an exciting reaction from us???
  4. Ha ha ha...that's very funny My Chickie will do that sometimes, so I just put my other hand under her to help her get back up so she won't have to use her beak on my fingers.
  5. Chickie holds hers like that too. Even though she is slightly clipped, hers still cross over all the time.
  6. We dont cover Chickie's cage and we leave the computer screen on for a night light...seems to work well for her.
  7. I turn it down a little for her, but it's still warm enough that it doesn't feel cold to me. I asked my breeder the very same question and she said as long as it wasn't hot enough that it was going to burn you or them, then it's ok, but she did say that they typically prefer cooler water if given the choice. Chickie now showers with us, if we're showering in the morning, or, if not, I shower her in the sink with the sprayer and room temp water.
  8. Maybe Marcy?? lol...back to the drawing board with names!
  9. I totally agree!! Chickie says "hi" and I can't wait to see what she'll pick up next!!
  10. wow...he's just a determined little guy! Maybe others will have some better ideas than I did.
  11. It's not supposed to be funny, but your story made me laugh out loud. I know some people on here use water bottles, or you could also try having an extra bowl of water maybe?
  12. They do that to you pretty quickly. <3
  13. Welcome to the forum. You're in the right place for any help or info you may need.

  16. Yay!! Good thing Dave was thinking, cause I totally wasn't!! lol. We got our cage off of Craigslist for a steal of a deal.
  17. Looks great to me. The bar spacing is good, and it looks big enough. Getting everything set up early helped me to quell some of my anxiousness over waiting for my girl to come home.
  18. I watched your other videos on YouTube and he is just a riot!
  19. I dont know what this could mean but hopefully someone else will have some insight. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him though...he's a tough little guy
  20. Welcome to the forum and bless you and your husband for taking those two on. I'm new to birds too, my grey came home in December, and have gotten all the help in the world here. You're on the right forum.
