  1. A wig was my thought too.....LOL...Love it!
  2. I am so happy for you! What a Merry Christmas that will be!! and she is all ready wrapped in a beautiful red.
  3. This is egg #5 and I am starting to get upset am I over re-acting? It also cracked because she laid it while standing on her play stand. I hope she doesn't try and replace it too. I thought maybe getting her out of her cage to play on the play gym might help get her mind off of egg laying it obviously didn't work should I just leave her in her cage all day? I am so sorry for being a pain in the rear about this but an egg laying hen is all new to me and I don't want to have something happen to Sadie because of my ignorance. Thanks, Karen
  4. If I'm off it is all day on work days hubby lets them out but doesn't touch them he is a little fearful of them and they know it so they leave him alone. On work days we have the evenings. My birds and my sewing machine are my life until the grandkids show up of course.

    Leg Band

Knowing my vet it will cost me 2 or 3 hundred to have it removed but I can't take any chances.

    Fake eggs?

Is there someplace you can find larger fake eggs I have found small canary type fake ones but these are larger than that, I was just thinking I could put in the 5th egg myself and even replace the real ones so if another breaks.
  7. Yes , Dave told to NOT to remove the eggs although one did crack and yes she did replace it. She worries me very much I know so many people that have lost birds to soft shells and being egg bound, but I do have to say they were smaller birds, lovebirds and the such. I just say out loud to Sadie every morning, NO more eggs! LOL hope she is listening
  8. It saddens me as well that birds have to have so many homes, my Sadie is only 6 years old and I am her 5th home, but I AM ALSO HER LAST!!!
  9. Not all parrots will talk even ones that are known to talk, may not do so. That does not make them any less enjoyable or loveable as a pet. A lot of times people buy birds for the wrong reason, I am not saying of course that you are but just a reminder that you may buy a bird even a CAG and it may not talk. Will this be your first bird? Karen
  10. I am starting to worry again, I just pray this will be her last egg, I did call the vet to ask about a shot to stop her from laying and she said the shot was $1,500 per shot and that she would need three of them so I will continue to pray that her health holds up and she does fine. I can't afford $4,500 's worth of shots. She is the sweetest bird such a cuddly thing and she loves to tell secrets, she will ask you if you want to whisper and when you say yes then she starts leaning in toward you and whispers all kinds of things some of it you can't make out and some of it is silly words that don't even make sense together...LOL I just love the little thing to pieces!

    Leg Band

Talon, I agree 100 with everything you just said, thanks
  12. Hi Chris, She is such a sweetheart, I know how excited you must be, you are so blessed to have her coming to live with you. Enjoy every moment with her. Karen

    Leg Band

My vet told me we were going to remove it but we forgot she said they were dangerous and if a bird got it's band caught on a toy or something it could break it's leg or worst. She likes to take my money and make me worry all at the same time....LOL

    Leg Band

Should we try and remove the leg band from my bird myself? It is on Sadie, I don't know what they are made of or how big of a job it might be. will a pair of tin snips be something that might work? I was going to have it taken off yesterday at the vet's but forgot. Thanks, Karen
  15. I wanted to find out if there was a reason medically for her feather plucking. And there were a few other reasons that had me concerned Sadie was a recent recue and a check up is in my opinion a good thing to do with a bird you don't have any history on, I still don't have to like the the prices that are charged.
  16. I just re-homed a 6 year old Grey my self and she is wonderful, a bigger sweetheart than my 17 year Grey that I have had since weaned. I have nothing against buying a baby bird it is a matter of choice, but there are so many birds out there that are in need of a loving home. Best of luck
  17. Happy Birthday, Corky!!!
  18. Call and ask the vet which way they want it, mine told me to let them first poop on a wet paper towel and then put it in a plastic bag. I have to bring poop back in a couple of weeks for a second check they all had either a yeast infection or a bacteria infection, which she claims is nothing to be alarmed about but no stinky poop.
  19. Yea and one that doesn't want an arm and a leg for payment.
  20. Yea, this one smeared poop on three little glass slides and that was it!!
  21. I am in the wrong business I just took my 3 Grey's in for a check- up and FIVE HUNDRED AND TWENTY TWO dollars later I could kick myself in the rear, There goes my Christmas out the window, the birds would have lived until the first of the year I am sure. Some people just don't have enough brains to be out in this world operating on their own I guess...GRRRRRRR:eek:
