  1. Looks good! I love seeing other peoples cages and set ups, just to see how others do it. I took off the seed guards on my cage because the dogs and us were running into them, ouch! But I have been thinking about putting them back on, I think that might stop Babalu from climbing off his cage....
  2. The mat will for sure be easier to clean than towels and bath mats, I hope it works better for you:)
  3. I also had no luck with the cement perch. But as I have posted in other treads, I love the sandy perch! It has worked so well with his beak and nails. I dont know what size I have in inches but it was the size recommend for greys, next time though I will be getting a larger size so his nails do not hang off the perch and his feet are spread a little wider.
  4. I have a sandy corner perch in a corner of Babalu's cage. He also rubs his beak on it and keeps it nice and smooth. It is also one of the highest perches in his cage. Once this one is pretty used up I am going to get a size bigger so his claws/talons do not over wrap the perch in hopes to keep them a little smoother although the one I have now works pretty good.
  5. Well it can be true, but sometimes my husband just stacks pieces of wood (two piles) then puts the object on top of it to drill a hole. When he made the hole in the phone books he just rested them on a wood shelf we have outside and hung the corner off that the hole was going to go and just drilled...

    Pumpkin....

Aly- Mine made a huge mess also, I gave him a gutted regular size one. It sounds like she just did what mine did and played with it.
  7. I use to use newspaper for the cage, I still use it for his stands, but I just bought some white cage liners from the bird store, I think they come from Kings Cages, and I love them even though they are not free! They are so much easier to lift out and put in than news paper, and stuff does not fall out from between the papers like news paper when cleaning.
  8. If my grey doesnt try/eat something, he will at least put it in his beak for a lick if I eat some first. That is how I got him to eat Harrisons pellets (they dont taste that great to me though, hahaha).
  9. Thanks, I bookmarked it.
  10. I had one of those mats under Babalus cage in our other house and I did not like it to much... It was over carpet, and the weight of his cage put dents in the mat so it was a tad bit difficult to move the cage off of the mat. Also, I might have gotten a mat that was to small (due to price) but my cage did not fit over it to well and poops still hit the carpet. I had to make a cut and push the mat in front of the cage so the back was not over it. After some time the corners also started to bubble up and if you walked to close barefoot, ouch! Anyway her is a picture of mine, so I guess my point is, if you get one of the office mats, get a large one.

    Pumpkin....

You should have seen the counter when he was done! Well you could not really see it at all hahaha.

    Pumpkin....

Here is a picture from a couple Halloweens ago that I have, I am not sure if he actually ate any of the pumpkin but he sure had fun destroying it.
  13. I also hand wash with Dawn.
  14. Thanks, that was a great video. I bet that is a sight to see if you were just walking or driving down that street.
  15. This is so sad, people can be so cruel. To think these people thought this was funny, thanks for getting this grey out of that place.
  16. It really doesnt get that hot, just warm. Well at least the one I have doesnt.
  17. Thanks Judy, I did not even think that the feathers had to be fluffed out for water to get the skin, duh... He still does not enjoy baths enough to fluff them, and I surely can not lift them for him:) Oh well, maybe one day he will relax. Sometimes he lifts up a wing for the water but it is just a little lift.
  18. I put the bowl back in under the bottle that same day I took it out. At the moment the bottle is still there, but he does not use it if the bowl is there. I think I will pull the bottle out today and just save it.
  19. Thanks everyone, I was just wanted to make sure this was ok and if other greys did this too and why...
  20. Everything is going good still with the shower perch and the shower sprayer, but I dont know if the water is getting to the skin.. I know the back is waterproof but it seems like his chest feathers are too? His legs look soaked but thats it.
  21. I was just wondering if anyone knew why they do this? He sometimes likes to play and chew on the feathers that fall off due to molting. Does he get something from it? Should I not let him because he thinks its fun and might start pulling them out for real?
  22. As I have posted before, I used a Lixit Bottle for a week, trying to stop the messy water as I used bottled water at the time. After a day or two the water in the bottle was still clean but smelled. I think he was bringing his food to the bottle. So I switched back to the bowl. Now I am using filtered water from the fridge and I was still changing the water 2-3 times a day so I decided to try the bottle again. Babalu uses the bottle fine but I felt bad cause he likes to get his food wet and I watched him one time and it seemed like he just wasnt getting enough water in his mouth when licking the bottle and seemed to me to be getting mad. I got the bottle for greys so the spout is the right size, maybe its just me cause I know he likes the bowl. What are you opinions on them?
  23. If you use photobucket it is the same way, you just upload the video to photobucket and copy and paste the code.
  24. Hi, you can check parrot rescues. Their re homing fee is usually under 500. Just google it and you should find a few in Ca.
