  1. Babalu learns faster from my husband than me too! He uses both of our voices, but Matts a little more. It is strange... thanks for the video!
  2. The rescue where I got my grey from told me the lady gave him up because he started to bite her and loved her husband. Her husband did not really care for him as he was the wife's bird, so she gave him to the rescue because she thought he hated her. They had bought him as a baby and he was two when they gave him up. Now he loves me, well most of the time:) depending on what mood he is in. He will try and regurgitate for me sometimes, but he is not much of a lover and the only time he likes his head scratched is at night. He also likes my husband most of the time too, sometimes he prefers to be with him than me, so I would also say it is a phase.
  3. I did not know I had to throw it away after a day... Thanks. He is on Harrisons right now, but I liked the ingredients on Tops better because they do not use salt. What happens after a day being left out?
  4. This bird does this all day long! There is also a cockatiel that sits on a swing, but has its tail flipped under it so it is pointing to the front, and wiggles around on it.. I will see if I can catch him in the act too, it looks so awkward!
  5. I am at the same stage, having Babalu put his head through the wing loop for a safflower seed. He still does not want me to touch him with it..
  6. All this talk about poop again! Babalu hardly goes in his cage either. But I take him out in the morning to poo, well most mornings when he is not a grump:) then he goes back in while I work or when I leave the house (4-6hrs). Then he is out on one of his stands or on my shoulder until I put him to bed. On the mornings he does not come out, he will go in the cage.
  7. Trying out Tops pellets, he just held it in his beak for like a minute, it was funny to me,
  8. ... my dad use to make us scrape his pigeon coupe when we were kids... Maybe thats why my brother has some problems, haha jk. I also have rolls of paper towels in almost every room, I shred them in half so I can try to save them and $. Babalu does not fly yet, so I think clean ups will only get harder when he does:)
  9. Cons- I wish mine was more cuddly and I wish I could love on him more than he lets me now (I can really only scratch his head when he wants me to). I really want to be able to get a dang harness on him:) But I adopted him when he was already 2yrs. Pros- he always keeps us entertained and loves to be where we are either on a perch or on my shoulder, we or I am never lonely. We have had him for 2yrs now and we still laugh everyday about things he does or stuff that comes out of his beak.
  10. I finally was able to get a good video of this silly little bird, they got use to me holding up the camera so it did not interrupt him anymore:)
  11. I have the babble ball but Babalu does not touch it, has yours played with it yet?
  12. I did not get the palm nuts with this shipment, but Kathie said she will be shipping them when she gets them no charge in a couple days so I did not have to wait for my other stuff I guess, thanks! I also got a free little shoe foot toy and it was all package nicely. Babalu even took a few bites of the new pellets, TOPS. I hope maybe we can switch him over from Harrisons, and TOPS is cheaper and seems to have better ingredients (no salt). I have not tried to mybirdsafestore mix yet, I got the one with the toys mixed in. Thanks again for recommending this store!
  13. He likes the just tomatoes! Yay! I got the hot veggies.
  14. Dan, this is not my bird, it is a bird that goes to the bird store for boarding sometimes
  15. I kept at it with small amounts, and now I can put the 1/4 tspn on his blended veggies or on top of a half a toast slice. I hold my breath when I open the jar and open the microwave:)
  16. I would hope that the toys that have keys on them are keys made for birds and are safe..
  17. I leave the grate in. But my grey does not go to the bottom of his cage. There is a gap anyway below the grate, so even if I wanted to take the grate out I wouldnt in fear of him escaping or getting stuck.
  18. These people said that the feathers were clipped to short, and one said the feathers were clipped all the way down the wing. I did not think this would stop the feathers from growing out, thanks for confirming. One of the birds in question, one of his wings looks smaller than the other and it has some clipped feathers on it. The owner said it was a clip that damaged the wing and feathers. I dont know why he thinks this... so I wanted to find out if this could happen.
  19. I would get the biggest cage you can afford, otherwise you will always want to upgrade:) I did anyway, now I am happy with my cage. But if you can only choose between these 3, I would get the 3rd one. This is my 2nd cage this was my first
  20. I ordered some too from the same store mybirdsafestore, and I got some palm nuts. I cant wait til I get them! And I orders some tops pellets to try and one of her mixes. Thanks again lovethatgrey for another great recommendation. Kathie was so nice and she gave me a veggie wash recipe too!
  21. Can a bad clip keep wing feathers from ever growing back? There has been a few people I know that said this happens.. and that they know of birds that this has happened to. Myself and a friend have doubts about it, so can anyone answer this? Thanks.
  22. I always thought birds can catch our colds... That is what I have been told by bird store owners and why people have to disinfect hands before touching and if people are sick they were not aloud near the birds. This is good to know that those people were wrong!
  23. Frontline works for my dogs... But when I worked at an animal shelter and we got in kittens that were covered in fleas, we bathed them in palmolive dish soap and that killed them. Probably cheaper than flea shampoo too.
