  1. I need to put me together something.
  2. Thanks, I just think its so funny. Does he think he is actually getting a good bath? Oh well just thought I would share and see it other greys did this as well.
  3. Wow, that cage is larger than I thought.. I think I need to get one since I can't get the harness on yet.
  4. :onot sure why the image is not there, but if you click on it, it should still work.
  5. Here is another video of him being crazy
  6. If you guys have read some of my posts, you might know that Babalu does not like bathing, or at least when I try to bathe him. Every once in a while he will try and take a bath in tiny bowls. The only thing that really gets wet is his beak, feet and the walls and floor. I have also tried putting him on the dog bowl (clean or course) so he can have more room, but he won't touch it! I guess at least he has fun, but does it really do anything for him??

    potty training

Well, I don't believe that I have been in your situation... I know that I brought him and his cage to a friends house for a week. And he just stayed in the cage. He was fine, he was around her birds and he thought her grey the car alarm. (The one thing we hoped wouldn't be left behind, haha). If I had to board, it would have to be in a room that was kept clean and sanitized, and kept away from customers who might scare him by putting their faces/hands next to cage. I would want them to have proof of all the boarders of vet checks. Also, I know some places have webcams so you can see what is going on. I have not found a place like that in my new town, so if I had to leave for a couple days, he would come with me in his small travel cage, or I would leave him with a friend or family member. Is there a way he can go with you? If not, he will survive. You might feel bad leaving him knowing he will try to hold it, but he will go. I thought the same about leaving my dog in her 6' 12' kennel on cement. I know (or thought) she would never go on the cement (potty trained), and I always rushed back to let her out. Everyone always thought we were crazy because we always left early or couldn't stay due to our animals. Not everyone thinks like us, we have feelings for them and try to put ourselves in their shoes and how would we feel being left for that long and having to hold it. Well one time I couldn't be home within 8-10 hours and to my surprise she did relieve herself.
  8. The store I work at uses Lixit bottles for all the birds. One of the Cockatoos shoves his pellets up the tube and clogs it!

I dont think he will ever like the mister... or water. I will keep trying though
  10. Glad to hear you guys are doing good in the new place. Did you use a box, or did he go in the travel cage?

    potty training

Mine doesn't go in the cage either if I get him out regularly. And if he is in the cage and the door is open (or closed) he will come out, or do something, to let me know he has to go and I take him to the trash can or sink. If I am gone, or cant get him out regularly, he will go in the cage. But he is happy to poop anywhere else, so not quite potty trained. Most of the time I catch the getting ready to poo signal though.
  12. I made the phone book toy! Its been in the cage for a few days, he has not chewed on it to much... oh well. It was easy.
  13. I would have been scared the wales would tip the boat.
  14. I wish I could get a harness on! Its a work in progress, he will barely poke his head through to get a safflower then backs off... Anyway, thanks for all the pics.
  15. I got one, and mine does not even go on it. But that was when I was in Ca, now in Va, I am hoping it won't be a waste of money in the winter. It is not in the cage now, but when it was I would put him on it and he would just climb right off. So as of now, waste of money.

    Spraying

Mine hates it! He screams and growls! And that makes me feel bad, so I stop. I don't want him to hate me. One time I could not touch him for a week! He gets mist from the shower though...
  17. I have never heard of it either... Sounds kinda weird and painful. I googled it after I read this, never knew it was possible. I would love to see some good photo's also. How long does it last for?

    Toast

I have been wondering how much toast greys can have, thanks for asking!
  19. My grey will also try and bath in a water dish on his stand, but no where else. He also screams and trembles at the sight of the mister. I have tried a couple different kinds, tried the sink, and a big bowl with no luck. But after my husband made him a shower perch, he goes in the shower with me to get some steam. I try and put a little water on him with the shower handle, sometimes he won't scream and I can get his chest and lower back, and other times I can't. I am still working on it, as I don't want to loose his trust also. One time I just kept misting him even with his screaming because I thought I was doing the right thing and he needed water, but after that I couldn't touch him for a week (that was a long time ago before I educated myself and trying new ways than force). I have never been able to soak him, when I can get him wet it just seems to run off. But so far not bathing has not caused an issue for us.
  20. I do not have experience with young greys, as I adopted mine at 2yr, but I have read on this forum about people lining the cage bottom with a pillow then blanket or towels to soften the fall. I'm sure someone with baby experience will post soon.
  21. He has not liked anything that is unstable, but I think it might be due to him being clipped?? So hopefully he will get better balance on this and start to like swings. He has gotten better at riding on my shoulder as I go about the house.
  22. We just recently moved, then stayed with my sister in law for a month, then moved again. I got a bigger than normal travel cage (we were going from Ca to Va) and I put him in it a few times then I took him on short trips in it. I tried to keep his routine the same while in hotels and the car. Then when we got to his sisters house I walked him around to show him the new rooms. His out of cage time wasn't allot there because it was not our house. Then when we got our new place, I did the same thing walked him around. He handled everything better than I thought, although he never use to bite his nails until we moved in to our new place... I have looked into it and they say it is due to nervousness. Now I guess it is a habit because he does it when he is bored too.
  23. This is his new hanging tree that I got from parrots play-world (off ebay). It is pretty big, it took a few weeks to get, they say the make them to order for specific breeds. This was his first time on it so he was nervous and stayed in one spot. Hopefully he will like it and climb all over in the future.
  24. When I adopted my 2yr grey, he didn't talk like most others at first. But a couple days later we were outside, out of site, and he started talking up a storm! We were laughing so hard at all the things he could say. Also, he would talk up a storm when I was vacuuming. Its like he just didn't want us to hear him in the beginning. So enjoy the peace while you can and good luck with diva!
  25. oh he did say that any Dewalt should be fine, the one he has is kind of heavy, well I think so at least. But it is really nice and super fast! And it has a pretty blue light that shines on whatever your drilling when you pull the trigger:)
