  1. Here is his drill. He uses it for everything, big and small. I believe he got it from Home Depot. He was not sure about any other models, sorry.
  2. My husband will only use Dewalt. They are the yellow ones, and a bit pricey.
  3. Update, he figured out how to undue the bottom!
  4. Husband Matt with Babalu, just happy he can hold him every once in a while Us for Halloween Me at dog training with my Dutchie Ember
  5. I would think that chipping would hurt them, thats a big needle for a small bird. Also, not to many people that I know of, know you can chip birds. And one more thought, how hard would it be for a shelter or a vet to try and scan a scared lost parrot... I know that my grey would give them a heck of a time if he was chipped:)
  6. well today was my first day. Allot of cleaning as I expected. But pretty easy. Sweeping took the longest because the feathers and dust just blew around the broom. I am going to ask why they don't use a vacuum. That would be so much cleaner and faster, plus it would get the babies use to the noise. The hardest thing I think will be learning what birds get what food, and ringing up the bulk food purchases (I have to learn what all the food is by looking at it). I did not however interact with the birds today, other than cleaning the small bird cages, I only worked half a day..
  7. we found a cockatiel at the shelter I use to work at that had and band, we tried everything to locate the owner, but were unable to find any info on how to read a band and locate the breeder. We googled the numbers and still nothing. That bird got adopted after his holding period. Is there a registry for bird bands?
  8. I dont have any friends of family that have birds (in Va). I am letting Babalus wings grow out so he can fly, but I am thinking that once he can, he will be caged when I have people over so no accidents happen. I am sure that once Babalu gets control over his flight and tries to fly to us while eating, my husband will have a fit and he will be caged or in another room while we eat. He is paranoid about dust and feathers or anything for that matter flying in his food. Even in restaurants we sit where there is less traffic so we dont get things falling off people when they walk by. He is crazy, but it is rubbing off on me too:)
  9. Hi, I just googled what airsacculitis was, an infection in the air sacs. I know there is a thread in the health room about another airsac disease. I have no experience with having a sick parrot, Im knocking on wood, but good luck and I hope your grey gets better soon.
  10. Hi everyone, this person also posted in another grey forum, and is having better luck there. One of the members or moderators said they contacted Dr. Pepperberg and she said it was true... Anyway, I agree with GoDiego, if it is real and it makes money, the people who donated money should get their money back. Here is the link to the other forum. http://www.africangreyforum.com/forum/f27/alex-me-the-movie-4110/
  11. So by having a weak pull, does that mean it is not top quality SS?
  12. I put a magnet on my cage, it did not stick, but I did feel a tiny bit of pull from it.
  13. Well, Babalu still has not played with the bottom of this toy. He sure does love this toy, thanks for telling us about this! Wait, does this mean my grey is dumb??? haha JK.
  14. Thanks for the tip, I will check it tomorrow.
  15. I am new to the forum, I just looked up your story. I am so sorry for your loss. Sounds like you did everything for him that you could to make him feel better.
  16. wow, that does look painful, but worth it.
  17. Will yours have the pull through paper? That looks neat, but I think it might be messy when you pull it out, stuff falling off the sides. Also I know feathers and food crumbs get underneath the paper in my greys cage, so I would have to take off the roll to clean under it every couple of days. But I like how you can add on if you ever wanted to make the cage bigger. What size did you decide on?
  18. I didn't get anything but the cage... When I bought it I didn't know about all of this, so the box was left there. Oh well. So far no rusting or anything wrong with it. It is about 1 1/2 years old.
  19. I bought a ss cage off of craigslist. It was new, the lady bought it from her bird club because it was a good deal. She uses outdoor flight cages. But I don't know what quality it is. I have not seen anything stamped on it either. Is there a certain place they stamp the grade on the cage?
  20. I switched Babalu from a seed diet to zupreem by starting half and half then just putting the zupreem in his cup. He was mad for a day or two, giving me attitude. Then I switched him to Harrison's, at first I gave up, then tried again a few months later. I had to pretend I was eating them then he tried it and love them! I have to order it online because I can't find it anywhere. I order from birdsafe.com. For 1lb it is like 7 something, but then there is shipping, for me it ends up to be 13 something.
  21. I thought Babalu was different, but cute. That was his name when I adopted him.
  22. Good idea, I will definitely change clothes and clean up before I hold Babalu. I know it will be hard not to bring any babies home, but then again, my hubby would not be to happy with me. Although I do really like Senegals and I would love to have a Camelot Macaw:) I have not seen a Camelot there before but they do have 2 Senegals right now... I have to be strong, Babalu and my dogs take up allot of my time now, also a reminder, hubby has allergies.
  23. Thanks, I hope to get discounts... I also hope I don't bring home any birds:)
