It really works! Mine did not have a ball though... still not happy to get wet but allowed it.

I just got another air-filter, the rabbit one also, and I love it too! I can defiantly tell a difference in the air. I had mine on auto, then put Babalu back in his cage and he began to preen, the rabbit sensors detected the dust and turned up the speed!

wire is expensive.. Well at least I thought so. I bought a roll of 1 by 1/2 (I think thats what it was) for the aviary we made for our Cali house, which was 4'wx8l'x7't, and it was like 300 from a hardware store. We had to scrub it with vinegar and water with a wire brush a few times too, thats what I read how to make wire safe for birds, other than to let it sit out for in the weather months. I think we only used about half a role.

I just found the link to the thread that I remember seeing here on netting. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?113178-bird-netting

oh.. I guess I really did not think so either...

this is a quote from the website of where I got my new hanging tree: (parrot play world) "Captive parrots, as opposed to parrots in the wild, have very different needs and requirements. Due to lack of exercise, along with having food available all day long, caged parrots are extremely prone to obesity. These gyms are designed to encourage mental, as well as physical activity, and have been proven to drastically reduce, or entirely eliminate feather plucking in parrots not suffering from any form of physical illness!" Can this be true about eliminating plucking? It might be worth a shot for those who have pluckers.

I have been working for a couple months now with the harness and me touching him. But, unlike you, I cannot touch Babalu anywhere, most of the time. I can scratch his head and rarely his back. He to will stick his head through the harness for a safflower seed then back out right away.

thanks for all the pictures, I am glad she is ok

this happens with Babalu sometimes, except it is not carpet, its the bottom of kitchen cabinets. If i tell him "no", he will stop for a second then keep doing it. Does the "no" re enforce bad behavior because he is getting a reaction from me? Also, When he did this, he would not step up, his body language was telling me he would bite. So I just get a piece of cheese the get him up.

nice, smooth, clean, black beak after toast. Nor sure if its from the oils in the PB, or the texture of his new tree when he cleans his beak. ... well the color part only lasted a few minutes, now he is preening and it is grey again:)

PB toast!

No body cares about brining in cocoa where ever you go? The only time I have seen parrots out and about was at a street fair, a macaw on a guys shoulder, and going to and from bird stores.

After that good showering I did notice his feathers were darker and shiny! I did not know grey could shine

I have heard a few bad stories of people coming into the parrot store where I now work, I wish I could rescue all of the birds from the un educated owners.. the best we can do is give advise and hope they will take it.

So I have been trying to get Babalu use to water so I can give him a bath. We made him a shower perch about a month ago and I have been taking him with me a few times a week. At the same time I have been trying to get him use to the sprayer, in the beginning he would scream, then I would stop. (I have had him for 2 years now and have never been able to get him this wet). Now if I go slow with COOL water (like Dave recommended) he will let me spray his chest and back. Well tonight I was able to get him pretty good, more than ever before. After the shower there was a smell, not bad but smelled clean. Do greys put off a scent? I know amazons do, but I did not know if greys did or not. Maybe I was smelling something else?? This was the first time I have smelled this smell, hard to explain.. was it him or maybe something else in the air? Either way I am just so happy I was able to get him wet! I never thought the stories I read about patience and time would be us! I thought my grey was different and would never accept bath time. Ever since I joined this forum I have learned so much, thank you everyone! By the way, he accepts the water better when cold, not my shower temp. Hopefully this will help other grey owners who think their grey, is different, and will never like baths and dont take others recommendation of cold water.

Hi, are you talking about the picture under your name? Because when I first joined I thought that was a profile pic, but its not, you have to create the avatar.

Mine comes with me about 4 times a week, but usually no talking while water is on. If I leave him there when I get ready he will talk sometimes.

I wonder how long it will take Babalu to fly. He was clipped when I adopted him and I kept him that way until now. I am not sure if he was able to fly in the past, I know he was bought from a Parrot store and I have some of his vet receipts that show grooming from his previous owner. A couple times a week he will jump off of his stands or out the cage and try to fly (but falls). He also loves to flap his wings when we go up the stairs in the morning or when I hold him up and say "weeeeee".

Well.. I am not to sure about the ink.. I searched the forum before and saw a thread about the phone book and people wanting to make them. Nothing about the ink. Also at the local bird store here, they use them.

I am going to get a full spectrum bulb. In the new townhouse, I cant really put his cage outside as he is really loud and talkative when he was in his aviary at our Cali house. Do you think I can just put in in the can light above his cage?

Babalu is on his new hanging play tree from Parrot Playworld. They have a website, but I got my off of ebay from them. I like it, it is lightweight, the material they make it with reminds me of rawhide. When I first got it, I was not expecting it to be hollow on the inside of the perches, but it seems pretty strong. He has chewing and biting the end where the bowl is and only left a little mark. As for the mess catcher, it has only caught about half of the poops. He tends to hang out on the outside perches facing in so the poops miss the catcher. They do make them without the catcher and I think it is cheaper too. I also put pictures of this stand in the toy and play-stand section.

I thought for sure someone would have commented on my wallpaper, hehehe, I love Edward!!!! In a high school crush kind of way.

I also like the second one the best. I also have 2 small tattoos, one on the inside of my ankle of an outline of a shepherd and on on my lower back of a tribal design. I have been wanting another one, something to do with my time in the USMC, and I was thinking on the inside of my bicep... but I am sure that would hurt!!
