  1.... very strange... I had no idea... This is what I learned new today...
  2. Ouch... I bet they liked the food though! When I open the oven, I forget to wait a minute before bending over and I get hot air to the face! I am learning to cook now, I guess its a rookie mistake, but I always do it...
  3. I got Babalu's boing from the local parrot store. It has toys connected to it, thats why I bought it. I have not seen another place yet that sells one like it... And I put a sandy perch in his cage, so I can not give an opinion there... But as far as ordering online from stores, (I know I have posted this before:)), but my new favorite is http://www.mybirdsafestore.com. If she does not have what you are looking for, she will try and get it and shipping has always been fast and she is really nice.
  4. Hi, I was wondering where you went! Can you give him a bath? I thought that once they get wet the feathers if they are not damaged will seal back together.
  5. This stick idea did not work for me yesterday. But mine does not chew on the harness. So back to the safflower seeds. He sticks his head in enough to get the seed then back out. He does not want the harness to touch him. You will have the harness on Neo in no time! You are doing great. I might sew a shoelace together, like the head loop and work with that, it will be smaller and maybe lighter. I think I read that is how Shanlung trained his second grey, he put it on and the bird freaked out for a minute then it got use to it..
  6. On a separate note - I've thought abut this again - do parrots get dizzy??!! I was thinking the same thing! Thanks for the video, he sure looked like he was having fun!

    Palm Nuts

No luck again.. I put the big green one in his cage yesterday, it looks like he got half the green stuff off and then gave up. He had dropped it, so I put it back in his cup, then he dropped it again so I put it back in the cup, and he dropped it again! So I left it at the bottom of the cage to see if he would go down to get it if he got bored, but no it is still there. He never goes to the bottom of the cage though. I will try again in a day or two with all three. I agree, I think they do need to ripen. The christmas and queen nuts were ripe already so I put those in the freezer. I left a few of the green ones out and also froze the rest.
  8. ... a stick... hmmm, I shall try that, maybe he will keep his head in the loop longer, thanks. I know when I tried a go at clicker training I used a chopstick, he wanted to eat it, not just touch it! That only lasted a week:) it just wasn't for us..
  9. I have heard of the cheek area bruising from being toweled.
  10. Hi, welcome back, I joined after you left and I have read many of your posts.
  11. less mess in water, but more in food bowl.
  12. he absolutely loves top's pellets! And he is drinking less water. He does not soak these as much as Harrisons, maybe because no salt?? He seems to eat way more, and love them!
  13. the stupid feather again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Palm Nuts

I have an update already, I had to help him get inside the big green palm nut. They are really tuff. Maybe I will wait a few more days to give him one to see if they soften. But I do not think he ate any of the white stuff on the inside, he just chewed it up, same with all the others...
  16. Oh, well he looks much bigger on camera!
  17. Wow, I am glad you were able to figure the problem out with out having to use meds. I love to learn about everything from this forum in case we (knock on wood) come up with any similar problems, and I can always pass on the advice I have learned to others if they have a similar problem, as a possible solution. Thanks for telling us.

    Palm Nuts

I ordered all three kinds too from mybirdsafestore as well. So far my grey has not been able to crack the nut part open... This is his first time with them. He get off the outer cover and then the stringy stuff. He is working on the big green one now, it is kind of to big though, I check up on him soon to see what he did to that one. How is yours doing with them?
  19. Thanks for sharing, I love to see other cages/setups. I might try a mirror close to my cage...
  20. I am changing pellets again, Harrison's to TOP's, but I do have a question... As soon as you see the bird eating the new brand, is that when you take away the old? Today Babalu eat quite a few TOP pellets today, it was the only thing I put in his playstand food bowl today after his veggie mix, so should I stop the Harrison's?
  21. My grey stays in his cage while I am work, he can see the dogs in their kennels so he has company. He has his toys and forage ball. I also leave the radio on for them. They are not next to a window, but I do open the blinds of a window across the room so he can see (well I think he can see out)
