  1. Thanks guys,  Not been yet but for some reason im up early rearranging my living room to fit the spare cage in and somehow most of the spare cage has made its way downstairs!
  2. He needs to get out of his cage, thats what has started the plucking. Hes had 10 years of freedom then suddenly locked in all the time. Can you pin point a reason he started biting after so long? If you are afraid of him after so long with no previous problems you need professional help with him.
  3. Did you check it out?  If so is there a spare one for me!
  4. Im going to look at another grey tomorrow, came back from the pub tonight to find a grey for sale on a forum and shes close to me, the guys actually a dealer/breeder but always on another forum and seems to genuinely care about the birds, he has just got a 7 year old called chocolate and sent me a picture of her laid on her back on him, he says hes never known a bird like her and would prefer me or someone on the forum to have her so he knows where shes gone to. Apparently the guy he got her off wanted to breed from her but shes a pet not a breeder. Will see whats what tomorrow.
  5. I was going to til i read your last bit!!!
  6. Thats why i cross post lost and found birds on every forum i go on, there are members on them up and down the country and the more people who know about them the better, its not often successful but it does work occasionally.
  7. I think im being discriminated against! No ones been messaging me,
  8. Poor Becki is having a violent outburst of hiccups, Bella and Bellino sat there listening for a while and now seem to have been affected by them too! Bellinos are nice and dainty but Bella has got so carried away with them she has just fallen off her perch!!
  9. Hi I’m emailing you for some advice and hoping that you can give me a little encouragement that I will get my boy back. He went missing on Saturday at 2pm. I’m sure you have heard the story a thousand times before. He flew out of the patio door and through the conservatory. We can only assume that something spooked him as it’s never happened before. Not that we are in the habit of leaving the back door open. He took off like a swan in flight and whilst it was amazing to watch it’s been devastating ever since. I didn’t think he would ever land. I didn’t even see where he landed as he went over houses. I was straight out the door and searching for him. There was 4 of us searching in the end. Within two hours we had leaflets out. I have called everyone I can think of, vets, schools allotments, radio stations, shops and news agents and parks. Leaflets to many residential houses too. I have read on web sites that it could take weeks if not months to get him back. What scares me at the moment and keeps me awake at night is not knowing how he will survive. The weather hasn’t been particularly kind with strong winds and heavy rain. Temperatures have dropped too. I would just like to know that he will be ok…..I know you may not be able to put my mind at rest fully but understanding how these animals adapt would be good. Will he perish from the cold, will he die of hunger, when will he come to ground to feed, when is someone likely to see him? I’m sorry for sounding completely irrational but any advice that you can give me would be greatly received and appreciated. Cross posted
  10. An adult cag should weigh between 400 and 450 grams, mine are both slighty less and i used to get stressed up about it but apparently they are still a normal size. Not sure of what age though, i have it in mind its approx 5 months old but please correct me if im wrong.
  11. Congratulations!!! Its so exciting when they start talking!! :woohoo: :woohoo:
  12. Hi, we have had our lovely African Grey stolen from us. He was kept in an aviary in the garden and on saturday (31st oct) either daytime or night he has disappeared. His name is Alfie and he often says 'Hello Alfie' in the voices of various family members. There is a slim possibility he escaped but we imagine this to be unlikely as it would have meant leaving both of the doors that lead into the aviary open. Also, if he had escaped we would expect the other parrot (small green) to have gone along with him. My mum is absolutley devastated, as we all are and sickened by the fact that someone would have had to know he was there as only by coming into the house/garden would you see the aviary. We are going to contact local pet shops etc. but any help that anyone can offer in possibly being able to find Alfie again will be greatly appreciated and rewarded. We live in SE Hertfordshire Many thanks Cross posted

  14. Shes so sweet, Love your avatar, i tried taking a picture of Bella wearing an underwear feather on her head but somehow all i got was the back of her throat as she opened her beak wide as i took it!
  15.
  16. I hope everything is ok for them, it was an accident, i thought it was instantaneous as well if it was likely to be a problem. All the best to you.
  17. There are lots of ways to check the sex visually, there is a link on another forum, i will see if i can find it, we all tested our birds on the "bot" test, a lot who were dna sexed matched up to the bot test but not all, dna is the only sure way if it matters what sex they are.
  18. Both my birds early morning call to me when they wake up is "yoooohoooo" If i ignore them Bella starts singing pretty songs for me as she knows i always respond to pretty songs,
  19. A Galah was found in Bridwater Somerset in a back garden on Friday evening. I will be collecting the bird tomorrow morning to look after it whilst looking for the owners. I will be contacting John Hayward tomorrow with the ring details which will hopefully help in identifying the true owners. Cross posted
  20. Bellino regains dignity quickly, climbs back up to where he fell off, wags his tail, shakes his feathers then shouts "WOWWW"
  21. We go into parenthood the same way, no books can give you the reality of being a parent yet we make a commitment to have a child and rear it with no going back, the same should be for birds.
  22. Bless her, its amazing what a cuddle with mummy can do to injured pride!
  23. They help strip the wallpaper when they think you need to redecorate. They check your washing up as your doing it and anything not washed properly goes back in the sink They make you excercise with all the bending up and down you do picking up their toys when they throw them. They make you laugh with all their antics and conversations they have with themselves.
  24. What a sweet little thing! Well done on rescuing her. :woohoo: Not even commenting about the brat.
