  1. Raptors are beautiful birds but a predator of Greys. Have both CAG & TAG here for me the CAG's are easier for me to bond with, for my adult son the TAG's love him so just meet the birds and see which one selects you.
  2. Maybe you can turn that hiding into a game of Peek-a-boo and make it a positive action rather than fear based.
  3. Greywings

    Chocolate!

The problem is also that it is a stimulant, their hearts are already on a rapid beat naturally speeding that up can be dangerous. By the way it is very dangerous for dogs as well especially sight hounds.
  4. What a brave adventurer she is becoming, kudos to you both!
  5. I agree with carolz7 St. John's wort can be toxic, I would use Rescue Remedy on his food instead it is much safer. St. John's Wort Overdose "If you take too much St. John's wort, overdose symptoms may include fever, difficulty walking, hallucinations, and a rapid heart rate. This dangerous group of symptoms is called serotonin syndrome, which can be life-threatening. If you think you have overdosed on St. John's wort, seek immediate medical attention. Treatment may include pumping the stomach, inducing vomiting, or providing supportive care."
  6. All good, sweet name for your bird. Just make certain none of your veggies have been exposed to insecticide or fungicides so your Angel can enjoy them safely.
  7. Sad for your loss of such a sweet girl.
  8. Anything warm is a familiar consistency from their "childhood" I think you may find any warm moist foods with out salt - like Grits, Oatmeal, polenta, cooked rice, mashed potatoes, Cooked grains- Quinoa, Barley, Kamut ect. will all be received happily. You can sneak in some Red Palm oil, finely chopped veggies, shredded unsweetened coconut, chopped nuts or cook with fruit or veggie juices to add more nutrition.
  9. Little Grey alien has taken control of the house, mind control is the next step "Resistance is futile". Glad you enjoyed the photos of the birds and the green eyed catbird as well.
  10. Harry Too with a stuffed ice cream cone-a mix of sprouted grains, organic yogurt and finely chopped veggies, fruits and nuts. Use your imagination knowing what your birds enjoy.
  11. Great to hear about your choice of a bird who is in need of new digs. Do give her all the time she needs to adjust to her new home, new people, new schedule and new sounds. These guys are prey animals in the wild and they retain those defense and alert for danger instincts. She will let you know when she is ready to interact, each Grey has their own time line to make those adjustments.
  12. As long as he can eat properly it should not be a problem. You can give him lots of things to shred or chew to help wear that beak down naturally. So glad you found us and I really appreciated his story.
  13. I think it is best to offer a variety, you would not want to eat the same things every day. Better nutritian and more to keep that brain occupied when you give him choices. A few pieces of different vegetables and less fresh fruit than veggies. You can put a little lemon juice like a dressing on the fresh foods. My birds get both a good seed mix and fresh foods. I also cook for them and offer some chicken bones, Tuna, scrambled eggs and I soak benas & seeds to sprout and feed them as well. You can have fun showing your bird that many things are good and tasty so you are not stuck with a picky bird who will only recognoze one thing as food. That could be a dangerous thing in an emergency when what he may be used to is not available.
  14. Is there any discharge at Shamrocks nostrils? Could Samrock be imitating a human who sneezed recently, and he likes the attention it gets?
  15. Excited for you getting Django and I think your Amazon would be called a Lilac crowned here in the USA. Lilac-crowned Amazon | Parrot Pictures - World Parrot Trust http://www.parrots.org/index.php/parrotgallery/category/C84/‎ Lilac-crowned Amazon - parrot photo gallery. Thousands of photos and parrot images.
  16. I grew up in Syracuse N.Y. so I understnd those Rochester snows. Brrrr glad I am in Texas not much Winter and it stays green all year with plants blooming and very rare freezes.
  17. Healing progress is good to hear, thank you.
  18. Harry U2 is even like that with Chicken eggs, if you give him one unopened in his cage he will take care of it very carefully for a bout two weeks. Dark leafy greens are high in calcium as is Yougurt, Salmon with bones and Sesame seeds.
  19. Welcome, we had a Shi tzu years ago they are funny dogs.
  20. Hope Radar is feeling better this morning, let us know what the Vet says.
  21. She will forgive you just be patient and don't push your self on her. Allow her the space and time to forgive and learn to trust you again. You left her and she will take some time to realize you are not leaving her any time soon. Don't force the step up-read about Gilbert and his journey back to trusting people. His history differs but the principle is the same.
