  1. Poor guy life is not fair is it?
  2. Wonderful news! Either the wing clip or no doors open when she is loose. I love a happy ending.
  3. Great news, moving forward on the healing path.
  4. It has been really hot here as well, supposed to be a little cooler today. My heart cries for those firefighters who lost their lives in the wildfires yesterday, 19 souls are gone.
  5. Place her cage and stand as high as possible it will make it easier for her to see and land on. Place fliers in the neighborhood and call all local Vet clinics in case some one has found her or reported seeing her. Do not give up.
  6. Safe at home and reunited with no pouting, very nice.
  7. ou found the key to that very difficult lock and the doors opened, how wonderful.
  8. Hope she is ready if not one more week or so won't end her world. All the very best.
  9. We have more than one Grey here and no problems with them bonding too much jealousy there. Pionus are gentle souls and are another African bird as are Jardines who have bright colors and can be great companions. JARDINE'S PARROT The Jardine's, an Amazon without the attitude. (SadieLady, a Lesser Jardine's, courtesy of Ginny's Jardine Pages.) A GENEROUSLY proportioned beak gives the Jardine's parrot an appealing, cartoonish appearance. There are three types of Jardine's, all near-identical, small green South African parrots. The Lesser Jardine's, also known as the orange-crowned parrot (Poicephalus gulielmi fantiensis), is the most commonly available in the United States. It sports a brownish-black back and wings, and orange crown, thighs and wing edges. The black-wing Jardine's (Poicephalus gulielmi gulielmi) is a slightly larger bird with a more reddish crown. The greater Jardine's, or Masai Red-headed parrot (Poicephalus gulielmi massaicus), has a smaller spot of red on the crown and broader green edging on the back feathers.
  10. All our flock ignore my fingernails they can change color frequently, now sunglasses can be a big issue for a few.
  11. Call your Vet for an opinion as most of the colds and flu's we get they do not are not susceptible to.
  12. They are an above board operation that other Sanctuaries & Rescues look up too. Any organization that has this many volunteers can run into one or two who may not represent well.
  13. You have a fun list of names, sometimes they have a mind of their own when it comes to a name. I am leaning towards the more unusual names-Tuki, Banjo & Rufus all sound good to me.
  14. Poor Socks just didn't have his Chicken Radar up and running.
  15. Best news is you are reunited, second best news she is ion no pain, all in all a good day.
  16. You are so right Ray, it really does not matter the species just what is in their heads and hearts. I think it also makes a difference if they have some choice in selecting their new humans. Pookie definitely picked me and I had no intention of coming back with a bird when we went to visit my friend in New Mexico. She stepped right up and accepted scritches all over from our first meeting, we were fortunate she came from a very good home. The people who surrendered her were having some health issues and gave up their best behaved birds while keeping the difficult ones feeling that the good guys had the best chance of finding excellent homes. Fred fred our Eleanora Too had many homes in his past and some were quite unsavory. We were told he lived in a crack house for a while and he is a self mutilator. His last home he was treated well and had two surgeries to close his chest. Now he is the sweetest cuddle bird and very gentle with most people and made the transition to our home very smoothly. Will write of the others another day.
  17. Oh, my Mom used to say that when her Dementia allows her to forget I had just stepped into the kitchen or bathroom. It does break your heart to hear that anguish in the tone. Smokey Joe repeats the "help me" she would say when there was something she could not deal with herself. Yes it did sound like the commercial with that same immediacy to it. Gus and Harry Too are cut from the same cloth. Harry's artistic tea cup carving.
  18. Good on you, I am certain any help they can get would be appreciated.
