  1. She has her very own expletive, creative girl.
  2. It is a big deal, a concrete view of her new found confidence and ability to play. Congrats to Gilda girl and to your patience.
  3. You show great courage coming to share your personal tragedy witch may save future lives, thank you again. Very happy your were able to save your TAG.
  4. A relief for you and fun for Cricket. >:>
  5. follow Dan's advice it just takes very little Dawn detergent to break the oil on the feathers, rinse well be careful to avoid getting water in her nares (nostrils).
  6. She is still unsure of her new place and people, please give her more time and space before even asking for her to step up. You would feel good about her if she was willing but she is not ready yet. Patience in a larger dose is reccomended-just let her get used to all her surroundings and wait for her to make the first move. As Katana advised think of new ways to help her understand the flow of your day. Guide with with treats and some insightful ideas, the turning off lights maneuver should be helpful..
  7. Yes those Hawks do have long legs and can reach through the bars, could not have gotten the Zon completely out that way but injuries would have been awful.
  8. The best advice I can offer is to take a big giant cup of patience. It has taken an unknown number of years for Dolly to be who she is now and it may takes months or even years before she feels safe enough to allow a relaxed head scratch. I live with 4 rehomed Greys-each came with their own preconceived ideas, fears they had learned and habits they had developed. Greys are wonderful observers of our behavior, vocal tones and body language and we have to work very hard to learn theirs. Think of your challenge this way for now-each day or hour you put into observing, building trust and quiet companionship with out demands is like putting time in a bank. You will be able to get back so much after your initial investment - in positive interactions later it is well worth waiting for those results. You have the right attitude wanting to learn more and wanting to do the right things, just give her space and time and show every day that you are worth her trust and her time to invest in a Grey bird relationship. Do read Barbara Heidenrichs books they will help you along this journey into trust.
  9. good job getting him interested in new foods the Bologna is terrible with the salts and fats. Eggs, Chicken bones and meat, Tuna, Salmon are all safe choices. You are doing so well I know he can leave those lunch meats behind him. How wonderful to hear he is seeking you out for attention. This may just be your honey moon period so don't feel badly if he gets nippy after the first few weeks.<li class="mod fwm">% Daily Value* Total Fat 6 g9%Saturated fat 1.9 g9%Polyunsaturated fat 0.6 g Monounsaturated fat 2.7 g Cholesterol 17 mg5%Sodium 254 mg10%Potassium 79 mg2%Total Carbohydrate 0.2 g0%Dietary fiber 0 g0%Sugar 0 g Protein 4.3 g8%Vitamin A0%Vitamin C0%Calcium0%Iron1%Vitamin D4%Vitamin B-65%Vitamin B-125%Magnesium1%
  10. Music to dance with your bird to. Thanks!
  11. You will do fine it seems they really enjoy home cooking most of the time.
  12. One can use a flat piece of cardboard, cut a side off a box and lay it in the cage for them to destroy if they wish. some people get a dish tub and fill partway with sand or shavings and hide treats and foot toys inside for them to find. Do let them see you place some of the treats or toys the first time so they know what is in there. Messy but fun for them.
  13. Good clean fun adorable bath picture.
  14. Good morning Inara, had to be a Browncoat with that name. My daughter co-runs the Houston Browncoats they have some great Shindigs. Loved that show. My car has a Shiny decal (she makes those too " artcat designs"), glad you have joined the world of Grey parrots it is a shame Joss never wrote a Grey into the script. Great to meet you.

  15. Just keep an eye on that area for redness or swelling, as it is on the margin there may be a semi permanent mark as it grows out but I think it should be fine. Poor baby you both had a scare.
  16. Love the Ninja for sure but the little Black & Decker chopper works great for small portions of fresh goodies. Hated my old food processors, a pain to clean and something always broke on them.
  17. Just run any veggies you know are safe through a blender or chopper then add to your basic cornbread mix I use carrot juice instead of water or milk, have used coconut milk successfully as well. Good tip adding ground flax, quinoa, raw nuts and some fruit, spices like red pepper, ginger and cinnamon work well too.
  18. It is that time of year, all nesty and looking for that safe dark place to get all broody. Nice I can control the volume on that video a shame we can't do that at home.
  19. It is funny how many birds appreciate Italian cooking. I caught Harry Too trying to pack his stuff after viewing your birds dinner.
  20. Welcome aboard and know you are safe here most of us don't bite as hard as a Parrot. >:>
  21. A friend of mine has taught some of her flock to repeat that message.
  22. Some times I wonder what makes some of those odd quiet backgrounds sounds worth the interest the greys seem to have for them. Then I think oh, birds are prey and it pays to listen carefully to your surroundings, so then do they repeat those sounds to warn others? Or just for entertainment value?
  23. I think Greys are easier than Conures. bold statement but my experience with Conures shows me a little bird that believes it can run the world stsrting with your household. A beautiful colorful small package with a huge personality, a piercing voice and the will to bite as needed to train the humans properly. Greys seem to bit more sensitive yes, more willing to observe than control and able to manipulate us rather than brow beat. Both can be fun to live with and each bird has it's own personality and approach to life so meet more birds and people who live with them. As someone else suggested see if you can volunteer at a Rescue or Sanctuary to get more of a feel for both species. The organization can use the help and it can only further you knowledge and bird skills.
