  1. Sounds as much fun as my trying to clean Harry Too's cage, when he is loose as chaos ensues. He has it in for Pookie and now he is trying to terrorize Fred fred had to put a broom in between them as Fred fred was hooting in fear and Harry was lazer focused on him. OOps now he is headed to Smokey Joes cage and Joe will do a toe-ectomy. Meanwhile I am removing paper, trying to sweep out the loose stuff, wipe down the tray and keep everyone safe. Done & Harry returned to protective (for every one else) custody, now it is time for a bubble bath or a Margarita, but out of time got to make dinner for every one feathered and human. Guess I will sleep well.
  2. Just explain it too them without drama or guilt and they will survive and so will you. This too will pass.
  3. Progress marked by pouting sessions, it gives you a measuring device.
  4. It took Pookie over a year but she learned to fly for the first time at 22 years old. I would take her to the bedroom and get her to flap on my wrist then gradually worked up to a gentle sort of toss off the wrist to the bed from about 2 ft. away and was able to slowly increase that to 4 ft.. Then she realized she could fly and uses that as she deems necessary. Celebrate those wings.
  5. I like the Pearl description, after all she is the Swamp Queen and those fresh water Pearls are part of her domain. What a stride forward allowing the neighbor to gift her a pine nut or two. Perhaps when the ice melts you can find her a furniture project of her own at a thrift store or resale shop. Then she can customize it to her hearts content and you can give us photo updates. If it turns out as well as we all expect then maybe you could start a gallery of Miss Gilgirls works.
  6. Just keep an eye on it as smelly droppings can be a symptom of a bacterial infection, but this time may have been some food.
  7. Greyt to meet you and Rascal & Charlie hope to hear more.
  8. We still have room in Texas will be in the 70's today here near Houston. Roses blooming and trees budding out.
  9. Misty that was my thought as well, mold & mildew can set up in damp sheet rock or insulation very quickly even in a cold climate.
  10. They are notorious for being difficult feeders in captivity, that much I know.
  11. Thank you for relaying the sad news, she and her adventures will be enjoyed for years to come due to Sanggays generosity in sharing her with us all.
  12. I think the Zons often have a shorter adjustment time than do our Greys. As long as the well trained humans provide food and fun they are happy.
  13. Glad to see you Chelsea will be waiting with Gil girl for those new vids.
  14. http://nerdapproved.com/approved-products/buy-this-victorian-house-get-a-spaceship-for-an-attic/#!u8DsL Buy This Victorian House, Get A Spaceship For An Attic by Nicole Wakelin on February 10, 2014 This lovely Victorian house located near London will give you 7,000 square feet of living space with eight bedrooms, four bathrooms, two basement apartments, and an attic tricked out like a spaceship. 15. And all of the above is subject to change.
  16. Funny how they name us as we do them better "That girl" than a fart sound or a microwave beep!
  17. It sounds like you may be more traumatized than Bingo is. It should be a good thing that he was examined and started treatment though his appetite may drop off for a time due to the meds. Try to show him a happy time act normal and lay down your doubts as he can read you like an open book and we don't want him to buy into any negativity. He just joined your family and you feel the pull to protect him, to do the right things to help him adjust and part of that is having him vetted on the journey to help him be a strong healthy bird with a brighter future. Your emotions are understandable -all of us feel our emotions go up and down when we read about the other birds on this board, we share each others joys, tragedies and triumphs. Let us know what bacteria he is fighting and how he progresses through treatment and how you are doing too! Our love is so easily given to these Grey birds and the bond we build is a strong one.
  18. Not paranoid just having safety as your main concern. Were these toys new or used? If new they should be safe if used then trash them. There are so many non contagious things that can kill birds especially smaller birds - bad food, dirty water, toxic cage paint (yes they are manufactured that way-think Chinese lead paint) mold or mildew, eating bugs who may carry parasites, toxins inhaled from cooking, candles, room sprays and insecticide sprays just for starters. Small birds are more subject to all of these hazards. Do let us know what the post mortem results are.
  19. Love hearing about older adopted Greys, all of our flock are with us because something happened in their past lives making a new home and a new start their only option. We are most grateful that they have come to our hearts and homes. I think you will find many hints of his past and enjoy his journey into your hearts. Almost forgot to add we have a Smoky Joe.
  20. I think Smartee Pants has been communicating with your flock his new thing is to work at the water bowl until he tips it over all over the floor. Right where people have to walk past and slip, devil bird. Trying a heavy crock now rather than the stainless steel bowl, fingers crossed.
  21. Impressed you were able to solve the forgotten password issue, glad you are able to join in again. appreciate the pictures your flock is lovely!
  22. Sorrow at your loss of such a sweet spirit, sounds like he went gently accross the divide.
  23. We keep our schedule unexpected too, don't even feed the same way or times. Some have said they feed their first bird first and the newest last-not here they never know who is first or last. If I am not available one of the boys will feed them or even hubby. We come and go at odd times to shop & take wildlife photos. Work & volunteering have more set times so not much flexibility there. If we plan on being gone long hours or a trip out of town I always tell them what is going on and when we will be back, sounds silly but it helps our flock and the cats but I don't think the dogs quite get it.
  24. she has a sweet face and looks quite alert, what a lucky girl to fall into your lives and in the home of a Parrot toymaker yet. Harry Too will be so very jealous.
  25. Time will move forward and so will she no matter if hormones or that irritating house cleaning is setting her world on edge.
