  1. No real etiquette just read at will and ask questions, post pictures in or under the heading that seems the most appropriate. Be kind to others, respectful with remarks and enjoy.
  2. I have to reinforce the instructions to- NEVER ALLOW A BIRD TO BE HIT EVER! Please slow down and let her get used to sharing your home before expecting her to step up willingly onto the hand of what are to her strangers who have not yet gained her trust. Hitting her will make her more fearful, more nervous and never learn to trust. Greys are intelligent and have surprisingly long memories. You are doing a good job with the veggies and fruits but the milk and salty snack foods are not good. Greys as many other Parrots are prone to fatty liver disease and enlarged hearts so keep the foods as healthy as you can no salt sugar or fried foods, ( & possibly a new roommate). Now after the lecture I want to welcome you to the forum and hope we can guide you towards a happy healthy relationship with your new Grey friend. You will find lots of information if you read through the site and room to share your photos as well. Again Welcome!
  3. Time for him to sweat to the oldies, he is massive. Beautiful birdy boy you are lucky to share his life and he with you.
  4. Welcome to our Grey corner of the e-world.
  5. Good work going to the Vet as soon as you knew you were treading water it makes a huge difference when you learn what to do to keep him safe. Your confidence will build and this baby now has a much better start in life. Congrats for taking the initiative to learn more and become the best Parront you can be.
  6. Look forward to hearing how your new little Grey alien fits into your hearts and home.
  7. There could also be food sensitivities involved in mood swings and aggressive behaviors.
  8. 2cute hoping for the best outcome You are in a very frightening position. In your corner and pulling for you and this poor baby. Do keep him warm and let us know what the Vet says.
  9. Will be looking forward to that name enlightenment, welcome to the forum.
  10. Will be thinking about you until we hear the out come.
  11. Nice work, it is not easy to rewind your expectations and start anew but it has wonderful rewards when you go at the birds own speed. You get a gold star this week!
  12. Have to ask how did her wings recover?
  13. As long as it remains infection free he should be fine. Weather the nail regrows or not will not affect his ability to get around or play so the Vet will ck it out and hopefully you will keep us informed. That twisted nail must have been bothering him or getting in the way causing him to remove it completely.
  14. Nice more bird tales ahead for us!
  15. Glad you figured it out and can move on. e-Hugs
  16. Let us know how his Vet visit turns out. He may be a little dehydrated and low on energy from not eating well. Looking forward to hearing he is on the mend.
  17. You have to do what is right for you and not worry so much about what the rest of the world thinks. In an ideal world we would all be able to be perfect people but not a one of us is so make the best of the path you are on and welcome back.
  18. Think of it as HIS comfort zone. Get him extra cool toys instead or add some branches he can peel.
  19. Maybe we can dig up an old copy of "The Borrowers Down Under" for them.
  20. Wonderful outcome to a scary adventure. It gives us all a reminder to stay strong, alert and carry a carrier or at least a towel & pillowcase in your car just in case you are able to help someone else.
  21. Also keep an eye on surrounding states it is easy to drive to Philly or DC or to New Jersey.
  22. As posted before yes apple seeds contain a small amount of cyanide so I would suggest limiting the amount he consumes I never said to avoid completely but safety is important especially with birds as they can succumb to many toxins that do not affect our other close animal friends so adversely. Birds as prey rather than predator often hide any symptoms of poor health until it is too late so just use caution and remember Apple Trees are not part of the African Flora & Fauna. Good to have you here CeeCee and it is always a good idea to do your research and ask questions we are all learning from each others experiences.
  23. dhillon just slow down & take it easy -these wonderful birds need you to earn their trust by not rushing them. Allow this baby to choose if it wants to come to you or not. Go slowly and show him that you are safe to be with, some birds feel safer when up high that is most likely why your shoulder is attractive. There have been big changes in his surroundings, people and schedule so give this baby a chance to settle in and feel safe before you in your joy and enthusiasm insist on lots of interaction and handeling. Take a deep breath and practice patience and that will pay off with a trusting Grey who knows he is safe.
