  1. Welcome Artoo interesting name choice, I like it.
  2. Glad you found us we enjoy meeting new bird addicts.
  3. I see you both keep your toys in the same place. >;>
  4. Lots of crippled birds do just fine without amputation. One of the Greys here has a similar leg and still climbs and flies and has even learned how to use it to hold food. Leg is bent at a right angle away from the bird. I would not go with the amputation.
  5. Just make certain you park in an area that is well lit and has plenty of foot traffic. Maybe they might even meet you at your veterinarians office?
  6. Good work doing your research first. You can find so much good information just reading through our old posts. Welcome aboard and look forward to following your journey.
  7. Greyt story it does show compassion and understanding. Smokey Joe has changed his name lately to Smarty Joe-hmmmm
  8. Introduce us to your Grey please, name age and funny stories.
  9. One of our Greys a TAG is very tiny half the size of our CAG's I also volunteer at a Sanctuary where we have several Greys of both varieties and none are as small as Smartee Pants.
  10. It does not sound like they have any interest in doing so.
  11. I don't think they require punishment. they already realized he was more than they could handle. They placed him with a kind concerned human who is doing all possible things to help Barnaby. From my years of experience trying to balance the universe yourself by adding negativity to an already sad situation only tips the balance towards bad. If you can all ways try to leave a positive action it seems to help a great deal more. The idea here is to help Barnaby not beat any one up.
  12. hmmm Will power test in progress...
  13. Great photo of you son with both Too's and Grey babies.
  14. Three of our birds had been clipped for years before they came to us and never flew. It took a several months of feather regrowth a few months of standing in front of the sofa or bed encouraging the wing flap then kind of launching them to the bed or sofa with lots of vocal reward or encourgement. At first the flight resembled that of a rock now Harry Too flies like a jet fighter and can pull those wings in while passing through doorways, Fred Fred E2 can even fly when collared and wearing his jacket (he is a self mutilator) and Pookie CAG was over 20 years old when she came to us having never flown she was a bit tubby and a nervous plucker as well. Now she flies where ever she wants and if I don't respond to her "come here, Mommy come here" she just flies to me. Your Sennie will learn but I am certain he is clever enough to enjoy the taxi service as long as possible.
  15. I believe there are several of us with Cockatoos in the household here. We also have an Eleanora Too, both are rehomes of more than one home Harry Too has been with us about 5 yrs and Fred Fred the E2 has been with us just over 4 yrs. E2 is very gentle U2 very aggressive with other birds and select people. Greys are much less stress in the family than the Toos but the Toos are more open to cuddles and hands on companionship. We won't mention volume of sound comparisons. Love them all and each is unique.
  16. Tears of joy for his building such a trusting relationship with you even during such a difficult time. I share your joy! As far as your brother remember we can select our friends but family we are given.
  17. More weight more energy, great work and wonderful loving care. Barnaby is one very fortunate Too and I think he will flourish in your home Dawl. I am smiling and have a U2 that was living on "oh-any kind of Peanuts" when I got him.
  18. Happy New Year indeed, lovely Grimm.
  19. Welcome we love pictures and look forward to hearing more about your feathered family.
  20. As long as you provide a variety of sizes to perch on it will provide for good foot health .
  21. LOL it can happen some of these Greys find humans easy to train, mine think I'm stubborn and hard headed. >:>
  22. Their droppings are often an indicator of two things-what they ate and general health. Colored foods and pellets can change the look of droppings, red pellets or foods making it look like blood. If they drink a great deal of liquid they will have very watery droppings. Do keep an eye on them here is a link for some insight http://www.exoticpetvet.net/avian/droppings.html this link has photos http://www.wingwise.com/droppings.htm
  23. Very Grey thing to say indeed.
