  1. He does have that "look" down pat.
  2. So tough and sad, he fought well and was loved.
  3. They have no idea they have a handicap, those of us who live with one of these guys know how adaptable and clever they are!
  4. It can also help if you use some Vet wrap to soften the branches, we have a Timneh with that backwards foot issue as well it does not slow him down at all. They also make those Happy Huts in an African Grey size as well as some self perches made of smooth stone. The boings or rope perches are also a good item for their foot strength as well as being softer.
  5. Try running the flax seed through a small grinder first then sprinkling over other foods.
  6. Macaws are so different at play than our Grey companions.
  7. Welcome and nice to hear how you handled your stressful move. Your aweet Ekkie girl may end up being the bossy bird in the household. It will be fun seeing how she settles in and learns you are her new real home and can be trusted.
  8. Ah a modern nesting site...
  9. She may have done that with a poor landing, the chest skin is fairly thin and if they land hard that skin can tear a bit or split. Since her wings are trimmed I would suggest padding the floor around any area she is playing in while this heals. Even making a thick layer of paper on her cage bottom as well, just to be safe. So glad you got her some help avoiding an infection is so much better than fighting one. Good work.
  10. Welcome both of you! "Greyt "dramatic photo of your Coco.
  11. There is also a great site on Yahoo - groups.yahoo.com/groups/FeedingFeathers this site is strictly for bird nutrition.
  12. The most common error made by people who get a Parrot of any kind is to try to force a behavior rather than allowing the bird time and choices. So take a deep breath find your calm spot and work from there slowly to build trust before results.
  13. Good for you Katana we all have a little something that may not quite jive with the rest of the pack, thank heavens we are all different or there would be a fight for the pencil and too much competition as to who had the most comprehensive list. I feel that if I cannot remember it all in my head then my brain is broken-sad but true. It may relate to my Mom having Dementia.
  14. They are so fascinating to watch, little gems with big beaks and healthy appetites.
  15. Surely it is time to close this thread, hurt feelings and volatile remarks are not accomplishing anything good.
  16. Any thing is possible, do keep looking and check with all local pet shops and Veterinary offices as well as any local shelters. Keep calling and keep looking, post on Craigs List as well .
  17. Jayd is giving excellent advice coconut water the unsweetened kind is also full of electrolytes and easily digestible& soft on the tongue as well. Do let us know how the Vet visit goes holding your e-hand to help you be calm.
  18. We are so like a flock of noisy Greys bickering, squabbling, , beaking, being nosy, falling off the branches, cuddling together, sharing a treat and just each being our own unique selves finding our own spot in this forest.
  19. Welcome, glad you joined us and it does sound like they keep you busy and learning as you go.
  20. I am a moderation thinker, once in a while a forbidden treat makes us happy can strengthen a building bond and does little if any damage. Just never a daily routine food or treat. There are some examples of birds giving up feather shredding after adding salt to their water so you just never know. Each one must make their own choices for their own flocks. We can only provide our own views and experiences as well as all the information available from research.
  21. Do you have a boy or a girl? May want to wait until you get a feel for that developing personality first. If a busy bouncy bird Bungee or a quiet bird a soft sounding name like Cloud. What ever you decide on welcome here and we love pictures of those baby Greys-hint hint.

Elevated vitamin D levels may cause death, or otherwise be harmful to animals and fish if fed for extended periods, potentially resulting in lack of interest in eating, weight loss and possible joint stiffness. The products are being added to those included in recalls announced on July 3, July 6, and July 12, 2012*, which were initiated after receiving customer complaints involving animal illness and small animal mortalities. 23. That is an AWWW moment, just when you think you know what they will do next they change it up and surprise you. I am fairly certain he was so good at the Vet's because you predicted he would be a challenge, no really I think he is learning trust and familiarity with his surroundings helps as well.
  24. His big scary adventure, a genuine relief that he is well and home safely. Great use of posters and luck, happy happy for you both.
  25. News just keeps getting better, may this wonderful trend continue. Scary way of discovering an illness for sure.
