yes, you were right! he is loving his freedom but hasn't taken it to far yet (thank goodness!) and no clipping from us...it was done before we got...well, both birds...now, our cockatoo will take full advantage of flying when she can! i fear that day! (not really..I'll just be up and down a lot more than normal!)

I have none... I am in the same boat... I thought about poo'ing on command...but then I started thinking about it and thought what if he couldn't get to that place... what would happen then... I try get his schedule down and when he starts to poo, if i'm not where he should poo, then i jostle him and run to an appropriate place.

He's learned how to land!!! I had posted a while back on Jasper's crash landings... We had some people over on Friday and Jasper just upped and flew...but when my DH held out his finger, Jasper slowed down and landed!!!!!!!! He's very, very smitten with himself (as I am too!) he just perks up and holds himself very high and eyes pinning... I was surprised though...i heard flapping wings and next thing i know, he landed on my head! (as he poo's right after he lands, I quickly got him off my head!) Just thought I'd share my good news that Jasper can now land instead of crash land!

ok, I won't tell him!!! I really love my Timneh...we had wanted a Congo, but when we saw this little guy and held him we just knew he was ours....one of the best decision's we've made!

Shanlung - thanks for the reminder!!! Danmcq - I can't wait for that day! I'm glad everyone chimed in, thanks again, I was starting to feel as though it might be my fault he was crash landing ... oh these birds... between them and my child, I'll have grey hair soon!

he's a almost 2 year old getting his wings back...he was clipped when we got him... He's gotten a lot stronger, and it didn't take him to long to get the turns down and didn't take long to get the corners down either...I'm just terrified he's going to break his neck in the process of learning! There has been i think one time that he landed on my husband's arm...then off to running into walls or anything else solid again... sigh!

I'm sure this has been addressed before... But i'm going to ask again Jasper has gotten pretty good at flying...turning, going in circles, making sharp turns... His issue is landing! He crash lands every single time. How do I help him not crash land!?! tia

Bean is so beautiful!!! I have a too too...lol...and she does excellent in her cage all by herself and is not a screamer...well, sometimes she gets going...but that's just around my husband...(not sure why) we did what you're doing, I had to sit on my hands to not go get her in the beginning but it's so paid off... She's happy by herself and is on a schedule! Plus, Jasper is right there with her...(not in the same cage of course) she is actually alone most of the day and if I come in she's like, why are you in here?

lol...it's like she was checking her stuff out and saying, if you move this again, so help you!!!

OUCH! Poor girl! but, it happens...just like kids and their bruises and bumps when learning new things...

well...i have a cockatoo and a grey. my grey loves to sit in one place and talk and be talked to and ride around on a finger or shoulder... my cockatoo, is all over the place and down and running around and cuddling and in on one chair at one second and climbing up your pant leg the next. But it works. it's chaos but it's fun! hopefully someone else will have more answers since i've really only had both birds less than a year

i know you had a emotional roller coaster going...but my goodness... shivers and heart dropping all at once to a huge sigh of relief when you found him! Thank God.
