Thanks Dave, I will make sure I don't pet those areas after about 1 more month. I sure don't want to create a monster!

Hi, I was wondering about aluminum wire for bird toys. Does anyone know if it is safe? I have looked on line & some sites seem to feel it is ok, & others say they are not sure. So I wonder if anyone has any reliable info on this. Thanks!

This is intresting, at what age should you stop petting/scratching their back & pits? Or is it best to just never start that? Biscotti is 4 1/2 mo., and I pet his back sometimes & tickle his pits. He seems to like it in a playful way, almost like a kid being tickled. I try to handle him all over, wings, feet, etc.. never vent area, thinking that touching all these parts will make him easier to handle as he matures. Is that not a good idea? I don't want to give him the wrong message, but he's still a baby!

Isn't that babbling the sweetest!! Biscotti talks up a storm but nothing understandable yet. I still love to hear him telling his big stories!! Congrats on the trick!! Bet that's really cute!

Thank you JungleDreamz, Biscotti is 4 1/2 mo. now, he has always been very accepting of being handled all over so one day I just layed him on his back & scritched him & he loved it! So now we do it all the time, I realize someday he may outgrow being so willing- so we are enjoying it for now!

You guys are cracking me up!! I can see I have SO much to look forward to!!! :woohoo:

That jolly ball sounds like a wonderful toy!! How about a picture? My Biscotti is doing the grumbly/chattering too, I love it!! Sounds like he is telling a big story, just waiting for a real word to come out!

Thank you all for your kind comments about Biscotti, it's nice to share with people who "get it". My friends are not parrot people so I see their eyes begin to glaze over when I talk about Biscotti or pull pictures out, so I have to restrain myself around them!

Hello everyone, I am out here in sunny California getting a pretty strong rain/wind storm so I thought I would post an update on my boy Biscotti. I have had him about 6 weeks now, and he is everthing I had hoped for & so much more! Such a charming, intelligent little being to share life with. He has mastered his landings & is quite a skilled little pilot now. He seems a very happy boy, really likes to be with me or at least see me, but will entertain himself in his cage also. I keep rotating toys & foraging things for him to keep him busy. He spends alot of time ( usually about 3 hours ) per day vocalizing a wide range of sounds that actually sounds like talking, but no coherent words yet! I love to listen to him though, he really sounds like he is telling a big story! I am going to post a few pic's of him.

Thank you are for the replys I was a bit unnerved to find he could escape his nice new cage! I did find a place online that sells a nice set of stainless steel locks for each feeder door. I guess this is a common problem! They are easy to install, they take the place of the little piece that swings out of the way & lock securly on the outside. So problem solved!

My Biscotti weighed 478gm when I brought him home, he dropped quite a bit when he started flying alot. Down to a low of 418gms. He now weighs around 458 gms, he is 4 months old. He is very active!

Hello, I had a bit of a scare this morning when I came out of a back bedroom & found Biscotti calling to me from on top of the refrigerator. I thought he was safely secured in his cage. He had apparently figured out how to reach through with his beak or tounge & flip the little arrow shaped latch thing out of the way & pushed the door open & got out! This was the door way at the top of the cage they call a nest box door, doesn't have a spot for a feed dish. I closed it a put a heavy piece of package tape over the latch thing on the outside so it can't be moved to open anymore. Just wondering what you all have come up with to make them parrot proof. This really scared me, thank god he can fly as the dog was in the house ( I never let them out together, not worth the risk ) & he was smart enough to stay high & get on the refrigerator! Any ideas or suggestions would be really appreciated! Thank you!

#17 You will skip & worm out of social gatherings because you really would rather spend the time with your grey! ( unless it's a "parrot people" event!

They are SO sweet & cuddly, my little boy Biscotti is 15 weeks & loves to get up under my neck & make sweet baby sounds. I am loving every minute because he is already showing some independence, but always likes to come back for a cuddle. He also seems to like tea! He met his grandpa ( my dad ) for the first time yesterday, and kept wanting a sip of his iced tea! He also likes water in a glass, so will have to have one ready for him instead of the tea. What is it in the tea that is not good for them? The caffine? Sure don't want him into anything harmful!

Thank you all for the replys! I was getting concerned about the weight, because he is continuing to loss a little. It makes perfect sense that they will lose while fleding though, I know he is so exited & amped when he has flown his little heart is thumping 90 miles an hour! They must expend alot of energy! HeatherStrella, he does not mind the towel at all! In fact he likes to be cuddled in it! He is such a sweet baby, his breeder did a great job!
