  1. Biscotti and his never ending paperwork!
  2. Hi everyone, Biscotti has been home 1 week now and I have to say I am completely in love! He is a really sweet cuddle bug, loves to be petted & cuddle under my neck. He has scared the H* out of me with his flying, quite the little kamikazee pilot! He is doing much better with the flying but the landings are still pretty bad. I am so worried he is going to hurt himself! He does choose to fly to me & land on my arm most of the time now, I hope he will keep that up. I have been weighing him & he did lose a few grams, I figure that is because he is getting alot more time out of his cage to exercise. He seems very happy & healthy. Here are a few pictures from our first week together.
  3. Wow! She is beautiful! And a lovely name to match! Enjoy, they are so sweet, I've had mine just 1 week now and have fallen head over heels!
  4. Biscotti on his play stand ! He loves it!
  5. Thank you everyone for sharing my joy! Here is a pic of Biscotti checking out my recliner!
  6. Hi everyone, I am so happy to say my baby has finially come home!! DNA back, he is a boy! He has settled in beautifully, was kind of still & quiet for about 20 minutes. He has since explored every inch of his cage, played with every toy, eaten veggies & seeds & made lots of cute noises, and hung upside down by 1 foot! He seems to be adjusting very quickly, I am so happy to have him home & just watch him! Will be posting pic's soon! :cheer:
  7. Here is a picture of my dear Mr. Pekoe eating some pasta! I really love this little guy, don't know why he has been rehomed so may times, just glad he came my way!!
  8. Thank you !! Those are wonderful pic's! I think the suns are natural clowns!
  9. Hi Jayd, I can't seem to find Spocks post about "sunshine on my shoulders", I love the picture though!
  10. Hi JJ, I'm still waiting for my baby, too! They are being slow to wean also & still don't have the sex yet! The breeder said maybe this weekend I would be able to bring it home ! Have everything all set up, just need the baby bird! The waiting seems forever! It will be worth it though!
  11. Thank you so much for the quick replys, putting him in another room seemed to be the best solution to me also. I just wasn't sure if it would be something he would eventually get used to or not. I think because I don't have house guests that often that he IS getting stressed, so it would be fairer to him to take the stress away than to try to make him adjust. Hopefully having a just weaned new baby CAG I will be able to get it socialized early on so it won't feel stressed out by different situations like poor little Pekoe.
  12. Hi, I am still anxiously waiting for my CAG to be weaned so I can bring it home probably a week or 2. My question is to those of you with multi-bird households. My rescue sun conure ( I'm 5th home! ) Pekoe, whom I've had 10 months is a wonderful, charming clown & we get along fine. The problem with him is when ever anyone comes over ( which is not all that often- we live way out in the country ) he screams like crazy! So far I have just let him squawk & he will usually eventually quiet down. I make sure he is not rewarded for the screaming by not paying attention to him when he is screaming. It is very hard to have a conversation with anyone when he is squawking because he is very loud! My question is- I really do not want my baby CAG to develop this habit by seeing & hearing the conure. Should I put the conure in another room when I know someone is coming over? Or should I put a cover on the cage for a few minutes if he doesn't quiet down & then remove it & try again, repeating if necessary . I really don't know anything about his history, he is hand tamed but very cautious. He prefers to be in his cage, but likes scritches & will take food from my hand. He seems very happy & plays & makes alot of other acceptable noises Is it likely that the new CAG will want to mimic this rowdy conure behavior when company comes? I would really appreciate any input on how best to handle this, I really don't want the baby CAG to learn this one! Thank you!
  13. Thanks everyone for the comments about the babys! Mine is the one in the foreground, the breeder thinks it's a boy. We should know soon!
  14. Hello, I was able to spend some time at the breeders with my baby grey again last night. I can't believe how quickly they have grown! Their colors are dark, does their color seem to change as they age? They are very sweet & curious, love attention! Should only be a week or two now before I can bring "it" home, DNA should be back this week! Everything's all set-up, just waiting for the baby bird!
  15. Hi Scott, welcome from a fellow Nor-Californian! I am a new member also. I am now about where you were 25 yrs ago, anxiously waiting for my baby grey to be weaned. I should be getting it in the next couple weeks. You really got Alexander used to the Pak O'Bird quickly!! How did you go about acclimating him to it? I have already purchased the Pak O'Bird for my baby & hope to start using it right away I so can take him/her (still waiting for DNA ) out and about with me. Looking forward to hearing more about Alexander, he sounds like an awesome bird!!
  16. Congratulations on finding a baby so fast!! You will probably be getting it about the same time I get mine! I got my cage on e-bay too, I am I very happy with it. Can't wait to see pic's of your new little one, are they going to be DNA'd so you will know the sex?
  17. The cage I went with is 32 x 23 x 36 with a play top. It's very nice, I have it set up in the living room already! I just got a variety of toys, things to shread, wood to chew, & various perches to play on. I am fortunate to work from home, we have a ranch in Calif., so I will be able to spend alot of time with the baby. My concern is to make sure it gets enough socialization, because we live so far out- not alot of company, so I got the back pack to be able to take the baby with me when I can. Oh, and I have a wooden playstand that I can move from room to room. I will get some pic's & try to get posted tomorrow!
  18. Hi Jessica, welcome to the group!! I am a new member also, you have come to the right place to learn about greys!! I know how you feel anticipating the day you will finially get your baby grey. I currently have a sun conure who is a rescue ( I am his 5th home!) poor guy , he is very sweet & a clown -but also very reserved. I started looking for a baby grey last fall ( my dream bird), and I finially should be bringing my baby home within a month! Planning ahead does give you time to prepare & gather all the necessities & information you can. I already have a nice big cage set up, tons of toys, a birdy back-pack & I have been reading everything I can about African Greys. You will find the right breeder & the right bird for your family!! Everyone here is very nice & happy to answer question! : )
  19. Hi & welcome!! I am a new member also. My baby is just 8 weeks & still with the breeder. I can't wait to bring it home! Whats your CAGs name? Would love to see pics!
  20. SO sweet!! I am anxiously waiting for my baby to come home also, I am hoping in about 1 month. I have also gathered all the birdy necessities & am so exited! Looking forward to hearing more about your sweet new baby!!
  21. Hi Monty, I'm a new member also. Anxiously waiting for my baby grey to be weaned so I can bring it home. : ) Your Monty sounds like quite the character! Just out of curiosity, has he been DNA tested, so you are sure "he" IS a "he"? Looking forward to more stories about Monty!!
