  1. ;)Happened to me too, first time I ate beets! Jayd
  2. I have to agree with Janet, my only concern is Boo's recovery. I hope your Vet is giving Boo probiotic's or Acidophilus or plain low fat yogurt, to replace what antibiotics deplete from their tummy, so you don't have more complications later. Yogurt, 1/2tsp, 2 times a day, Acidophilus plain powder is 1/10 a human dosage, probiotic's [bird]is per label. Jayd
  3. :)Thank You, This video really adds to this thread. Jayd

  5. Wild Amazon Parrot's, Dust till Dawn! Dawn, the beginning of a new day in the life of Wild Amazon parrots. Loudly calling to each other, they assemble into flocks and begin foraging for their morning meal. A flock foraging trip can take a few hours and can take them far from their night roost – up to as many as seven kilometers in the case of Puerto Rican Amazons (Amazona vittata; Snyder et al., 1987). Amazons in the wild cover large areas in their search for food, Their primary food is seeds and fruit, some trees bearing fruit only at certain times of the year, relying on different plants producing at different times of the year, hopefully being able to find what they need each new year. Lilac-crowned Amazons (Amazona finschi) must move from one habitat to another, each year to ensure food availability (Renton, 2001). When the season is dry (April -June) it's the semi-deciduous woodland and the rainy season, forage in strictly deciduous forests. The Puerto Rican Amazon is the rarest parrot in the wild.Until November 19th, 2006 only 20-24 remained in the wild, all in the Luquillo Rainforest of Puerto Rico. On November 19th, the anniversary of Columbus's "discovery" of Puerto Rico in 1493, a new flock of 22 captive raised .Puerto Rican Parrots was released into the wilds of the Karst Region of Puerto Rico. (Columbus's ships log describes huge flocks of thousands of Puerto Rican Parrots covering the skies of the island). The Puerto Rican Parrot is the only parrot found within the United States and it's territories. See you next Week! Jayd

  8. :)Hi, lets see if we can summarize, it appears that most feel that your afraid of being bitten, and your having trouble hiding your emotions around your fid, it seems most of the posts agree upon this. You have a "Bird Whisperer"[?] coming over to give you some advice. Question? How many years Grey parrot experience has this person had? How many Greys has he/she raised? How many years has this person owned/ lived daily with a Grey? How old is this person? If you add all the years of all the people who have responded to your thread that they've raised or worked with Greys, they are truly Bird Whisperer's' Question? if this person has limited experience with Greys, the same above questions apply's to other parrots. Question? is their knowledge mostly from books? If you go into a room with 50 Amazons or another group of parrot's, all the same age, you'll find about 98% are all the same or extremely similar, emotional etc. Now, do the same with Greys! you'd be lucky to find 2 alike! My point, for a parrot other than a Grey, a single person can advise, with a Grey, this isn't possible, there's just not enough years. Right here you have the best advice on earth, These good people have felt not only the good and fun of Greys, but the tragedy as well, and pass on this advice to all who ask! Jayd and Maggie:)

  13. If I may, A normal Gray 'Tiels top-notch, male or female will be grayish, with or with out slightly orange cheeks, female no orange cheeks. A Orange-Cheek 'Tiel, male, has bright orange cheeks, a female light orange cheeks. A male 'Tiel is the "singer", a female usually only makes a couple of calls, a the male 'Tiel starts his day by singing. From then on, you have a thousand mutation's, pied's, fallow's, pearl's, gray cheeks, lutino's, etc lol.
  14. Hi Sherry, what Dan says is true. Sorry, but your baby is showing you some of his baggage by how he is acting towards you, this may sound silly, it could be the color of your hair, the hand soap you use, your shampoo, make-up, any number of things, these things can remind him of something or some one else..You'll work it out...Jayd, Maggie, Spock and the flock...

There's Many ways a person can express themselves, especially when explaining something they think someone else might be unaware of! When a person open's themselves to you, that's trust, hopping for the same in return. Mama you know what you have to do to insure this won't happen again, and you've already started, Thanks for confiding in us:)...Jayd and Maggie
