  4. Yes..true....Better safe then sorry.... Onions, Garlic & Birds Learn about the characteristics of these two foods that make them potentially dangerous for birds http://www.birdchannel.com/bird-diet-and-health/bird-nutrition/birds-onions-and-garlic.aspx By Margaret A. Wissman, DVM, DABVP, Avian Practice http://www.tarafoundation.com/birdcare.html

  6. There's two Einstein Greys on the net. Here's the link to the right one....lol, Still alive... http://www.knoxville-zoo.org/case-studies/49
  7. A loaded question!! Dan's reply reflects most all currant feelings, witch I also agree with, now why is this question loaded? There's no 100% scientific proof that it will harm our birds!!! Why, the time since this issue came up has been to short? No testing of parrots have been done? many reasons....Personal opinions is probably the largest, this is my reason I don't serve any of these beans to my fids, cooked or not, this doesn't mean I'm right...QUOTE: Dan,,It pays for all to read and heed all the data on each type. Unquote...
  8. Their wonderful........Here is to of my favorite link's other then the Grey Forum :http://www.alexfoundation.org/ http://www.africangreys.com/
  9. Ouote: [Totally Organic's] SOY BEANS There is more and more disturbing data found about soy beans and products. Soy beans in their natural state contain large quantities of natural toxins and there is data that soy is cumulatively toxic when fed to animals. For example, The PARROT SOCIETY NEW ZEALAND claims that soy products in bird food have caused such problems as immune system breakdown, failure of organs and multiplication of the birds' own benign bacteria. Unquote. Jay
  10. What you say is true, but whenever a Grey is brought home, a newly weaned or older bird, it has some baggage, plus a completely new environment....You surly are doing that, keep it up...Jayd
  11. How can anyone criticize care and love? Keep doing what your doing......
  12. You can't do any better then you are.....Which is Grey't... Suggestion, I'd try around 50/50 with distilled water, and 100% on bare skin........Jay
  13. This is wonderful, I told you you were doing a good job! The Smash and fresh veggies are the most important, followed by pellets [keep the bowl full]and some fruit and treats. We put the pellets in our fids cages after they have their fresh veggies in the afternoon, we take them out in the morning. When a parrot cut's down or stops eating something, it's usually because they find something easier to eat... or they don't like it, lol in Diego's case, it sounds as if it's the first reason...lol New threads will be posted in a few days on food's and recipes....... Jayd Note: this is only my opioion....
  14. Yes, Tui will also in our pray's........Jayd and Maggie Have you read these? http://www.greyforums.net/forums/sho...loe-vera-juice http://www.greyforums.net/forums/sho...-aloe-vera-gel
  15. Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Hi, we've been giving cinnamon sticks and powdered cinnamon to all our fid's for years, we spinkle cinnamon powde on so of their rice dishes along with a little Anise seed. CINNAMON sticks can be used as a "food toy" for parrots. Ground cinnamon can be used on soft foods as a mild anti-fungal treatment for candida and other types of yeast, and aspergillus. Cinnamon also has a mild anti-bacterial effect against strep and staph bacteria. It can be sprinkled on fresh foods in hot weather to help prevent the growth of pathogens on bird food.http://www.landofvos.com/articles/kitchenxv.html
  17. It's hard to tell...he is a beautiful wonderful bird with great parronts. Suggestion...most 'Zons love to sing, opera is their favorite style of singing. When you leave him alone, play Opera song's for him, or sing the "Scale" to him...Jayd
  18. Thanks, Point of interest, A Orange-Wing is the only amazon with the color orange, Orange-wings are in the family of Yellow-nape and double-yellow head! All other Zon's Have red instead of orange...Now, Salsa, being a Hybrid, she has the coloring and size, [385 grams] of the Orange-wing and is developing the Blue on the face like the Blue-front, her father....Diego, has picked up the orange in the wing.[Rare]....Keep well....Jayd
  19. You are a Good "Parront" ......................................
  20. God Bless You and Your's...............
  21. Thank you Tim so much....Jayd and Maggie
  22. Sorry. I've been behind today, You might want to check out this link: http://www.avianweb.com/amazondiet.htm Dry Fruits / Veggies: When fresh fruits and vegetables are not available, dehydrated fruits and vegetables work wonderfully. Many birds love their crunchiness, or they toss them into their water dish (creating a "soup" of some sorts) and then eat them once they are re hydrated. Be prepared to change the water more often throughout the day. Dried fruits & vegetables have the advantage that they don't go off. You could literally leave them in their cages for days (unless they get wet, of course). This surely comes in handy when traveling. Dried fruits & veggies also help convert "seed junkies" to a healthier diet. When you are at home, you can moisten the dried fruits & veggies with warm water to rehydrate them. Birds tend to LOVE warm fruits & veggies, maybe because it gives them flashbacks to the times when they were chicks and were fed warm regurgitated food by their bird parents.Jayd
