Everyone is here for their birds - but I know that a lot of people have other pets too! Tell us all about them (picture would be nice too). Unfortunately, I can't join in - I don't have any - but I know loads of you have other pets! As my first thread in moderatorville I shall give a karma for each of you who post (not per pet - some may have an ant farm!!!)

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/11/17 13:42

Right - I know this club was supposed to be Thursdays - but since our work has brought in a new computer system that is driving everyone to distraction I think I shall be T..Ting on a Tuesday too!!!
-
Ah Dave ~ they are getting to be such characters - any chance you could take daily pictures!!!! They are just so cute!!!!!

One of our new forum members Jenny asked a question that has never crossed my mind! Jenny asks if teflon coated hair straighteners are dangerous to our birds? I've checked and mostly all hair straighteners are teflon coated (and obviously heat up to exceedingly high temperatures) It's not something I've thought of, but it's something I use every day and wonder what others think about using these (I must say, it's not something I'm going to give up - I have to leave the house you know!!) What's your thoughts?
-
How have you kept this to yourself!!! Chatot is absolutely beautiful and will compliment your others fabulously!! Your home is certainly awash with colour nowadays! Yet another lucky birdie to come into your home.
-
Hi Jenny ~ glad we were of some help. Now - hair straighteners - that's not something I've thought of - but they are teflon coated - what a good point. I presume you won't be using the straighteners in direct closeness to your parrot - I use straighteners religiously - and always have - but upstairs, away from Harvey. That's a really good question though - and a separate thread would bring great debate! Air freshners that squirt are a no no - I use the reed infusers - you can get them from House of Frazer - you've got a Kendal's in Manchester - I'm sure you'll get the same there: http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/on/demandware.store/Sites-hof-Site/default/Search-Show?q=reed+diffuser something like that!

Ha Ha! Don't worry Bernie - I'm only one up from your kicked cat - those powers are beyond me - it's the others you need to butter up!!!

CuteMandaPanda wrote: What a sympathetic vet! Baby has been taken from all he knows and brought to a place and a family he doesn't know either ~ of course he's not going to play ball straight away! Adopting a bird is a big deal - and I commend you for doing so. Baby is scared - he doesn't know you know him no harm. I know it is infuriating for you that he's not the "cuddly" Baby you want - but at two he knows his own mind. Mind you, Harvey is 11 months and like this with my husband - it's just the way he is. My husband perseveres though - even through all this rejection - I just keep telling him to be patient - the day may come, the day may not come. Like you said, you've only had Baby an exceedingly short time in terms of ownership - it will take a while for him to accept you and feel comfortable - don't give up

Hi Amanda - I think Dave has said it all - don't take the bird unless it is weaned.
-
Ha Ha! It's the Magic Flute!!! Mint! Loved Bah Bah Black Sheep too! Very good Bernie xx
-
Ha Ha! She has the same indignant look Harvey has on his face when he has a shower! Little by little though Alfie is accepting her showertime! Go Alfie!!
-
{Feel-good-0002006E} Neither would I Ted - Have you seen the size of that beak!!!! Actually - the look in his beady eye is enough methinks!!!
-
Hi Amanda ~ welcome to the forum. I would agree with Judy about leaving the weaning to the breeder. My breeder would not let Harvey come home until he was 12 weeks old/or fully weaned (luckily at 12 weeks he'd made the transition). Nine weeks is very young ~ I wouldn't like this responsibility. Why don't you approach your breeder and ask if you can bring Kirra home when fully weaned - a responsible breeder will have no problems whatsoever with this. Can't wait to see photos - I love the babies
-
Ah! What a lovely little party Megan is having - the best behaviour of Alfie is obviously in anticipation of a lovely spread for her birthday too!!! These are great pictures Lyn - Megan's a cutie too

I have to say that I don't include Harvey in my mealtimes, he is disruptive - so he goes in his cage when we are seated, having a meal (tries to pull glasses over etc). If I'm having a snack though, Harvey's the same - will try and get as close as he can to see what I have - I just move him. If you do want to share your mealtimes why don't you just keep putting him back on his playstand (which you could position near the table) or keep putting him back onto the table. Repetition is the key to learning!

judygram wrote: Of couse Judy! I've loved him all these months I've had him and he can't talk - what's another 50 years!!! I think Harvey probably will talk - I was just wondering if there were any confirmed "non-talkers" that are written about, or whether they were just a myth.

birdtricks.com/womacks what a heartless joke
JillyBeanz replied to devonanno's topic in The GREY Lounge
Well Devonanno - I'll start by saying "Welcome to the Forum". I'll also say that you won't really find anything positive about Bird Tricks on here! You've posted on another thread about bird tricks - so you can see the views held by this forum! The issues you raise are clearly with the Womacks - of which you clearly have a few! I'll not comment on your issues with the Womacks - just to say I'm sorry about your baby = of whom you seem to be doing everything you can for.

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/11/16 13:29 -
Ah, hope you had a good day Janet and your grandson is kissed to tiddlywinkles!! Today I am back at work after one week off - it's raining outside, and we have a new computer system that nobody has a clue how to use! Great!!
-
I don't need to encourage Harvey thank you!! He tries his best to chew buttons off my clothes anyway - so I'm not getting him a toy to help him in his endeavours! Harvey loves buttons too - it's so strange how they fixate themselves with things isn't it!

Janfromboone wrote: Hush your mouth Jan - I've just had to cover Harvey's eyes in case he read your statement!!! Steamed veggies! You spoil him too much!!! Next Tobie will be asking for his pasta al dente! :woohoo: Gosh, what do we do for these parrots eh!!!

Chronic feather-picking Amazon I want to adopt
JillyBeanz replied to PekingeseMama's topic in Cricket's Amazon Room
Ah, bless him! El es muy hermoso! Robin (rbpitman) has just adopted a grey who is a plucker - she is having great results with Beau - I'm sure she'll be able to advise you. I'm sure with your love, care and attention that Guapo will become a fantastic bird. -
Nope! Good guess though!
