1. Don't worry Spock - I'm in the grey corner - those green flying things beat me in a "room off" - they got their own room, I didn't! Great pictures of Spock Maggie - he's beautiful
2. There's a lot to be said about the freshness of "fresh" vegetables that are purchased here in the UK (as a lot of them generally aren't grown here). I have to say that probably 90% of Harvey's "fresh" food is frozen. I supplement this with "fresh" fruit, and also some "fresh" veg, but the main make up is frozen (defrosted of course ). It's always been said that "frozen veg" is fresher than "fresh veg" due to the very swift freeze achieved after picking the veg. What is your thoughts on this, and indeed what veg do you feed yours - "fresh" or frozen?
3. Ha Ha! That resolution was broken damn well quickly then! So, no fireworks pictures for us then?
4. Great video - Harvey can do one of those tricks - is it the basket, is it the roll over, is it the play dead? Don't be silly - he can shake hands! Such a clever bird - the owner must have the patience of a saint!
5. Great video - Cocoa loves hanging upside down!! Thanks for sharing
6. It's so cute that even though Tango is sick on car rides that he still loves them. Poor little baby! Great pictures Maggie - Tango looks like a baby, not an 8 year old! He's gorgeous.
7. How cute thought that they say it differently - it must be such a hoot to witness. I bet your nephew was over the moon at such a tribute
8. Ha Ha! I can't believe you've bust something else! Is anything safe around you!! You bust your computer, your boat, now your camera! The list is endless.....!
9. Oooh, everyone has some great movies - most of which I've seen and some of which I'd forgotten I'd seen! Karma to Lyn and the schizophrenic movie fiend above  Thanks for sharing these - there's some fab ones from you all x
10. Hi Christina, welcome to the forum. It'll be nice to hear about your flock once you have your more pressing question answered. Looking forward to hearing more about you and yours.
11. Ha Ha Ha! Unfortunately, I must clarify Dan that the reason he hears "Michael" all of the time is for the first reasons you listed - definitely not the last one! I'm married - that all stopped years ago!!!  Ah, good old Dixie Robin - you'll have to have the video to hand the next time she does it. Nice to hear from you too x
12. Harvey doesn't say much in our company (probably recites war and peace in our absence) but one funny thing that is coming through is the fact he will sit and say "Michael" (my husband's name). I know there's lots of talk about speech recognition etc, but Harvey will say this directly to Michael, never to me - so it makes you wonder really how much they do understand.
13. I don't think I was encouraging it - if I was encouraging it I would have included a recipe for crayola caesar salad or crunchy crayon croutons! Rayyan - I'm sorry if you thought I was encouraging this action - I was merely trying to reassure you that your baby will be okay ~ but still hide the crayons!
14. I couldn't agree with you more. You are quite correct that members of this forum embrace their parrots - they're not pets - they are family members through and through. An example, in the last five minutes, is that my husband has gone food shopping - he's asked what I want and firstly I've listed the mixed veg, the fruit, the bean mix etc that Harvey eats. We all have the inevitable task of leaving our babies - and it is a very difficult decision. I would have said that the children would take him, but like you, I don't think that this would be acceptable to them. I look forward to the next installment ~ it's such an enjoyable read.
15. It's great when they let out their energy like that - I love to watch it. Ana Grey really means business with those hoops! The funny thing is - she knows exactly that you are filming and is playing to the camera! Thanks for this Janet - Ana Grey is so lovely x
16. I don't trust Harvey with children either. My two nieces (4 and 2) are regular visitors to my home and the oldest is scared of him anyway (no reason, just doesn't like the look of him), but the youngest is absolutely fixated and wouldn't think twice (because she's two!) of sticking her finger into him, with terrible consequences I would have thought. For this reason, when they visit, Harvey is put in his cage (for his own good, and that of my nieces). Mind, I must say, if I had a dog that wouldn't be left with my nieces alone either - I wouldn't trust any animal, no matter what their nature, unattended with children
17. That's such an insight into how it all started for you - and obviously how the good work has continued. I really think that it gives "food for thought" that it's not an overnight thing acquiring birds, and from your story it is clear it was a long, drawn process. Thanks for this ~ I really enjoyed reading such a sad tale turning into such a happy ending!
18. Chocko has fitted in really well Debbie - it must be a delight to see. I wish Harvey would take some daytime naps and give me some peace - alas, this is never going to happen! Try and get a picture of Chocko asleep on the chair - how cute!
19. Luckily the manufacturers make wax crayons for the delight of the chewing children population - who hasn't caught their kid with a half chewed crayola? He won't have eaten it - a little flake may have been consumed - but that will be all. Think about what gets wasted of his favourite treats etc. I can't think that any harm will have been done - they're absolutely non-toxic, probably producing rainbow poop if consumed in huge amounts! Keep those crayons out of his reach!!!

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2010/01/02 12:21
20. You can tell Cocoa is thinking "yip - one of these days - I'll have you!!". Great photo of Cocoa!
21. I know what you mean Janet - Friday night and there I was sitting with a glass of juice! It's soooo wrong!!! I'm really going to try though!!
22. What a great shot of Alfie (and the tree) and the back of David's head! I'd show you mine today - but alas, it's been back in the box, in the loft, for the past three days!!! My house is back to normal, dust free and I'm loving it!!!!
23. This is very interesting Dan - and is perhaps the direct opposite to how our domestic greys are kept in lots of parts of the world, definitely here in the UK. I think it would be absolutely glorious to be able to see these animals in the wild - but sadly, due to the state of the area I don't think it is something that I will see. Thanks for this Dan - it really gives food for thought.
24. Isn't that so strange - but a great tip for those who have trouble. I bet you have just sent a load of people running for a water recording!
