2. Hope you're feeling better soon Janet x
3. Supernova wrote: Ha Ha! You're not wrong Bernie!! Bit like my street!!!! Well, the thermometer is now reading -7 here. I've just made my wild bird food up for tomorrow (as if I don't have enough mouths to feed)!! Great idea though Janet - I take it you received the beer ~ you didn't give it away
4. I am sooooo jealous of you lucky people who hand rear these beauties! They are absolutely gorgeous!! Spock is still a sweetie though - nothings's changed! Thanks for these pics and videos - so cute!
5. No kids! One was supposed to return today and didn't! Has decided it's a better option over there!!! Oh well, means I have less washing and ironing! It's now reading -7 on the thermometer - the UK will shortly come to a standstill!!!
6. I agree with the others - Yuki sounds like she's settling in just nicely! I think we all go through the initial dread when our babies preen and it's always "plucking". Harvey's one year old now and has plucked, had a chest infection, had a broken wing, leg, neck, swollen tongue - the list goes on! Don't panic - the diagnoses listed above weren't real - all in my head!! There hasn't been anything wrong with Harvey!!! We all go through it - you're just now "part of the gang". Can't wait to see some pictures x
7. pearllyn wrote: I agree! And those in handbags! What's that all about!! I've got over the bus trauma for now - but I am getting the Metro to the stop nearest Michael's work and he's picking me up from there (we both have matching cars, so one is as bad as the other - but he is on the flat!) - I don't mind the Metro as much! My employers have just issued the Met Office warning for more snow, more ice and more snow and more ice - worst nearest the coast!!!
8. pearllyn wrote: Ha Ha Ha! Don't you just make her wear high heels to match her little dress and handbag!!!!! Isn't that what chihuahua owners do with their dogs!!!
9. I did it! I got the bus!!! Well, what a trauma to the system - first I had to WALK to the bus stop and STAND and WAIT in the snow, for this thing to come along that had OTHER PEOPLE on it! I had to sit next to ANOTHER PERSON! I'm here though!!! Ha Ha!!! It's still quite deep here - and Northumberland has nearly run out of grit - so can I borrow Tiggs for tomorrow Bernie!!!!!
10. What a great idea the monitor was - what a cute story! Good to hear you had a good break and sounds like Red is very happy
11. Supernova wrote: OMG! That is just so cool! I want one, I want one!!! Great video Bernie - karma to you for thinking about me in my time of need!! Ah, you're canny really!!!
12. I'm glad you decided to post this Dee ~ I know it must be hard to relive it. We all shared in Juno's short life and the struggles you had to understand why he was ill - at least now you have closure and know the cause, and know there was nothing you could have done any differently to sway a different outcome. I know you'll stay a member - you have "another bird" for the "Other Birds" Room anyway - so no excuses!!! Java will be fine - your quarantining showed just how important such measures are when introducing new animals into our homes. One tip though Dee - don't go closing that closet of many magical containments just yet - you never know what might need its contents one day.........
13. Fantastic Toni - thanks for sharing! It's not often that our babies hit the headlines - but what a clever little parrot. Karma for sharing such an enjoyable story x
14. Oh - and Bernie - Cumbria has run out of grit and is using sea pebble stone chippings!! My local Asda has run out of salt and people are starting to use cat litter on their paths!!!! What's going on!!!
15. Supernova wrote: Where do the stupid forecasters think the snow's come from! Up here, UP NORTH!! I've just been out with the ruler and there's 7 inches in my back garden. Anyway, back to me! I need counselling! I have decided that tomorrow (due to more heavy snow this afternoon, and more expected overnight) that after this morning's carry on that I shall get a pauper carrier (a bus). The last time I was on a bus, well, it was years ago! I don't do public transport - I have the type of persona where everyone talks to me and tells me about their family life and problems!! Also, there's always someone who stinks, and the annoying twit with the headphones too loud so the whole place can hear that annoying "tss, tss, tss" from his drum and bass on his I pod!!! So, I've dug out the boots (the heels will be put in a bag) and my waterproof coat and hat (I'm going to look incredibly gorgeous) and at 06.15 hours tomorrow I shall be waiting at the bus stop with the snowman that's been built inside it!!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! STOP SNOWING!!!
16. What great stories ~ and gorgeous birds! It's so lovely to see colour round here (other than little red tails!!!).
17. If you just quickly blanched them (between 3 and 5 minutes), let them cool and then freeze them you can keep them for up to a year. If you've properly cooked them (soft for human type eating) then they will keep for three months. Harvey loves them raw!
18. Pep - I was under the impression you bought the last baby from John (the link Lyn gave you)? Are you getting another from him or phoning Dick the vet in Edinburgh? Alfie and Harvey are testament that John's babies are top notch! Even if I do say so myself!!!!

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2010/01/06 14:17
19. I've just rang the council to ask when they will know if Katie's school will be closed tomorrow to be told "well, the teachers will TRY to get there tomorrow". Poor teachers! What about the rest of us running the economy! I'm here at work!! I risked life and limb in order that a service is provided!! Snow is lovely (from the inside of your own home) but I'm sick of it now - please, please, tropical weather arrive!!!
20. Hi Ashley, welcome to you, Butch and Grumpy (what a fab name)! Karma to you for taking on an older grey - it's a great thing you have done. There is tons of information available, and lots of members have adopted older greys and are on hand to give advice. Looking forward to hearing more about you all
21. That's the thing though Judy - every other country in the world is equipped for the snow - but nope - everything in the UK comes to a standstill! I am testament to that! I have had to be "rescued" by a snow plough this morning only 400 yards from work!! The hospital is up a bit of a bank - totally ungritted - and my fabulous rear wheel drive, definitley a summer car, got stuck! Luckily there is still humility and kindness in the world and two very kind chaps (one in a landrover and another in another huge 4 x 4) stopped to help me! Transpires one of them was the owner of the private company that is hired to ensure my place of work is gritted and clear! He sent for his snow plough who cleared the way for me! Moral of the story is - don't buy a sports car with slick tyres if you live in the unprepared UK!!!
22. Maggie! Watch him.....! I'm going to bed now - so I am not here to fight your corner (do you have any left with all your flock!!!).

24. Jay - I'm afraid I'm with Maggie - a stuffed one (of the fluffy variety - not literally a taxidermy project)! Can I just be a cheerleader and clap loudly from the sidelines - I couldn't cope with another!!! Actually Maggie - watch him! He's pretending this is for somebody else!!! How many more can you cope with is my question to you Jay! I can see it ending now......and a partridge in a pear tree!

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2010/01/05 21:49
