1. What a great thread Mareeee - not in the US, unfortunate for you, but I get my food and supplies from Midland Parrots - www.midlandparrots.co.uk At the checkout add the promotional code MP 0010 to get 5% off your purchase (not of the delivery). I order monthly so I save quite a bit. Sorry it's not the US - but might help the UK residents
2. Oh - look back for the old posts about Mocha - we've watched him grow from a baby - he is absolutely beautiful. I just love the beautiful sheen of his feathers. Great pictures of Mocha - and definitely agree with Judy "we want video, we want video"
3. Nemo is so cute! A right little poser there for the camera. For the owner to have had them for 12 years it must have been hard giving them up - but they should have gone about it more responsibly really. Karma to you for giving Nemo a new home - I look forward to the updates and progress of such a lovely little bird
4. Ola Paulo, bem-vindo (and there my knowledge of Portugese ceases)!! Also, welcome to you and Caco/Coco! There are lots of topics and threads for you to learn and read. If there is anything you are unsure of or want to know - then just ask! Looking forward to seeing some photos and hearing more about you

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2010/01/12 19:58
5. This parrot took 9 generations before it "mutated". Call it what you want - but at the end of the day it's for an experiment, enjoyment and self indulgence by the fool who thought it was a good idea. It doesn't save lives, hasn't discovered any vaccines towards parrot diseas and in fact, hasn't done anything but produce a parrot which is different to the rest of its species. Next thing is - will it be accepted into its flock - I wouldn't have thought so! Yes it's pretty, yes it looks good - but how many chicks/older birds died in order that this designer handbag could be produced? What happened to the "cast offs" that didn't make the shade? (grade)! Bottom line - It has no use - it has no purpose!!
6. Well, my New Year's Resolution was to stop drinking for the month of January - it didn't work! So, thank you Janet for renewing your membership - we will convene again Friday 15 January 2010.
7. Good for you! I'm just going to check I've signed yours!!
8. Oh Lyn! This should have come with more of a warning!! I'm at work, sitting at my desk, welling up and sniffing!! I've had to explain to my colleague (luckily my friend) what I'm reading. Karma to you for finding such a lovely reading...even if it has made me cry!!
9. I totally agree with Sheila - your bird will choose who is "responsible" for him/her. He may never bond to you (whether you are there or whether you are not)! If you are travelling though, will this bird get the 4 hours plus it needs of interaction it warrants each day? Will your wife be able to sustain this committment alone - as you describe the bird will be "your responsibility" and you say you have a dog too, which obviously needs specific care and attention too. My parents looked after Harvey when I went on holiday and they have a four year old Weimaraner - who was very interested in Harvey (for the first two minutes!). They settled in fine together - even posing for the odd photo we received when we were away!! You really, really need to decide whether the attention this baby needs is available, before you bring it home.
10. Ah, Happy Hatch Day Chloe - doesn't time fly - you blink and they grow up don't they!!
11. I shall restrain my answer as this is something I feel very strongly about! Harvey is fully flighted - he is a bird. They fly.

13. Joolesgreyuk wrote: Don't you dare say that! You took in Argyle and gave him the home he'd never had. I know the frustration you are going through with Argyle and how upset you are about your relationship with him. I know it's the last route you would ever want to go down (and you know my views about this!) but only you know what is needed to protect you and your family. My last, last, last bit of advice would be to take him to an AV - I know it seems a bit silly as he's not ill - but it's best to explore every inch to try and discover why he reacts like this, before the dreaded clip! I had 17 years of a vicious cockatiel Julie - I adopted him too - this is how the previous owners had made him, and I couldn't tame him He still had a happy, long, loved life. I know how you feel. Only you can make this decision - a one I know you won't take lightly
14. Thanks for sharing your experience with us Mareeee ~ what an interesting read. What a rigmarole - but just shows how much you love your baby. Looking forward to hearing more about you all
15. Nobody's sick of your photos!! We love photos - it's nice to share our birds with others. Get that file shrunken and get them posted!
16. Fantastic!! Fits in so well to your surroundings!! It's amazing what you find to use!!! What a great idea for scooting across the marble floors!!!
17. Ha Ha! The look on Simba's face Renate - fantastic - looks like he's just eaten the parrot!!! I use my normal kitchen scales - the bowl lifts off and there's a little stand thingy underneath - Harvey obliges and step onto it. I agree with Julie - the avian ones are RIDICULOUSLY priced - absolutely rip off!!!
18. That's a great photo Sheila - your situation makes me think of how Harvey and Spiky would have got on had Spiky still been alive - nope! Spiky by name, spiky by nature - he would have "had" Harvey!!!! It's so lovely to see them together - more pics please x
19. Great news Steve - the WPT is such a great organisation and membership will open the door to so much new, unseen footage and information - you better share it with your friends though!!! Well done Misty - nothing like a good bit of old fashion nagging!!!!
20. Right, on behalf of the UK I wish to apologise for our moaning, groaning and inherent whinging over the last week or so. Yes, you probably realise we aren't used to this type of weather. We are not equipped, educated or accommodating to such conditions. On behalf of my fellow countrymen (and women) I would like to say - we shall now stop bellyaching! One footnote is - thank you Mr Snow for buggering off to Spain - you're such a thoughtful chap!!!
21. That's wonderful news Caroline - you softie!!!! You already have three fabulous, gorgeous and well socialised birdies and I am sure that Tully will be your fourth! Tully will realise what a lucky, lucky boy he is ~ karma, karma, karma and more to you! Can't wait to see some pictures! Note to Tully: You're one lucky, lucky little boy!!!
22. Come on everyone - I know there's more than this lot got more pets than our greys! Show them off ~ karma will be given for each of you who take part!
23. Wow - what an absolute beauty Jay - I'm going to enjoy this thread x
