  1. Ha Ha - of course I didn't take the picture - the snowman is far too inferior to be considered one of my masterpieces!!!! Well, the big melt continues - we're now waiting for the big floods! Everywhere is so wet and slushy! I'm going to stop moaning though - I'll have slush over snow any day of the week!!!
  2. Hi and welcome to our family ~ can't wait to see some photos of Rustina and hear a little more about you both
  3. That poor man Jay - I watched the whole series - Stephen Fry is such a clever, interesting man. That poor bloke was maimed from that kakapo - his head was mauled beyond belief - I can't believe he let it do it!!! Great TV though!
  4. Ha Ha Ha! Bloody Mercedes drivers Bernie eh!!! Ha Ha Ha!!! loved it! I hate adverts on the TV - but this one is great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQcVllWpwGs
  5. Ah - haven't seen Mocha for ages! Great pictures - looks so proud standing there. Thanks for sharing these x
  6. That's amazing! I've tried giving Harvey a walnut before and he's not interested - has the attention span of a six inch nail! Did it take her long??
  7. Hi Arlene ~ It isn't recommended that candles are burned due to the noxious smoke given off by them. This won't "kill" your bird instantly - but who knows what effects on their tiny respiratory system in the long term? I like "smells" in my home too (pleasant ones!) and years ago asked my AV what I could use that wouldn't be detrimental to my cockatiel - I was told to use reed diffusers, which I use now with my grey. I can't comment on the plucking though - I have never experienced this - but many, many, members have and will sure be along to comment. My advice would be to stop using the candles altogether
  8. Go Jake! He must love that bath to battle Dayo to the dish!!! I notice how Dayo didn't take you up on the offer though! Thanks for sharing this Dan - Jake is such a cutie x
  9. Thanks for this Dan - I was really interested in the blog about the different clothes scaring his bird - this is never something I've thought of - approaching Harvey with a hat on etc. I've put this in my favourites - very interesting read
  10. Oooh - so I have a choice not to recognise him here!!! I'll trade him for that lovely quiet one in the corner - yip - that's definitely Harvey  Harvey doesn't really have any distinguishing marks, but I think I would probably recognise him from the way he moves and stands etc. Because he's fully flighted too he can be anywhere in the house and I just call to him - and he comes to me - so really, Harvey will have a choice if he recognises me too!!! Great thread, thanks for starting it
  11. OOh, Cocoa's loving that coconut. Thanks for sharing - great photos as always
  12. What fantastic shots! You've got a great subject and obviously you're a great photographer! Thanks for sharing these. Love the top one too
  13. Great pictures! Cocoa's loving that - and it looks so fresh! We buy it frozen for Harvey (clearly there's not much sugar cane grows in the UK!!!!) and he loves it too! It doesn't look as good as Cocoa's though. Thanks for sharing your lovely pictures
  14. I expected his head to start spinning at any moment! I can't believe that a cat can make such sounds! Great video Dan
  15. The only peanuts Harvey receives are the ones that come in his parrot seed/nut mix (which remarkably has human grade stamped on it!!). I don't give the peanuts in the shells (monkey nuts) after the warnings I received here about the potential of aspergillosis in their shells. I have never tried peanut butter though - sound like something else Harvey could paste up my walls and french doors!!
  16. Hi Matt, welcome to our family. You're doing the right thing in researching before you purchase a grey - they're not all tricks and mimickry as seen on You Tube! You'll find everything you need to know around here - but if not, just shout up and ask - there's always someone around to answer any questions you may have!
  17. Thank goodness it was just your outside tap and hasn't caused too much damage. That's shocking for the salt too - there's none on the shelves in our local Asda (the only place we've managed to get to today coz it's at the end of the street)!! I hate it when companied exploit people at these times - I bet it was £2 last week!
  18. Debbie - I hope the bird did go to this lady you mentioned. Then it can receive the time, patience and love that Jay mentions. Karma to you for your attempts to help x
  19. I never saw this originally! Thanks for resurrecting it Jess! Here's Harvey looking alluring! Oh yes, straight after that shot he wiped it all over my nice, white work shirt!
  20. Joolesgreyuk wrote: We have a temperature feature on our desk top which compares that of home with that of the village in Spain where we go on holiday. It is showing 2 degrees in Southern Spain at the minute!! That bloody snow better clear by July Julie!!!
  21. Joolesgreyuk wrote: Ha Ha! I bet all the women of this forum agree with you on that one!!! Sorry that Argyle isn't getting any better with you - but I admire the fact that you are accepting him for what he is - my cockatiel was the same. 17 years of viciousness - but I never once thought about giving him up. Whatever happened to "don't bit the hand that feeds you"!!!
  22. Well Julie - the shanks pony was the enforced choice - couldn't get the car out of the street!!! Been to the shops for the essentials - and now I am admiring the beautiful snow from the comfort of my warm home! See Bernie - you lucky 4 x 4 folks! I'll get you back in the summer though!!!!
  23. Ah, Owen is beautiful - and definitely enjoying that! Thanks for sharing x
  24. Ha Ha! I love how she just sits there and doesn't give a hoot about anything! Great video Lyn
