  4. Yip - I agree with the others - they love to hang around  Welcome to our family - you'll love it here
  5. Well done Janet - I don't know how you do it!!
  6. Not long until Santa gets here to the UK (already been to a lot of places around the world) but for you all who are (in time zones) behind the UK - check where Santa is! http://www.noradsanta.org/en/index.html Merry Christmas and Best wishes for a Happy and safe New Year xxxx
  7. Ah, how sweet Robin - reminds me of that video that you posted Jay - it's soooooo cute!!
  8. Here's hoping that Sinbad returns soon - great advice from all - my fingers are crossed for his safe return
  9. Ah, congratulations to you for becoming Abby's Daddy! Welcome to our family. Karma to you for taking on an older bird - they all need our love and attention. Looking forward to learning more about you all - there is tons of helpful information on this forum - any questions ask away - there's always someone here to help.
  10. What beautiful photos of a beautiful baby. Merry Christmas to you both x
  11. Hi Sanzoni and welcome to our family. There are so many perches to choose from and in Harvey's cage he has a full java branch which takes up most of the bottom of his cage and a couple of cement perches. I have placed the cement perch at the highest point (where he'll obviously head) in order that his nails receive a bit of a filing when he's on it! As long as there is a good, steady perch available next to his bowls, then that's good. It's better to get rid of the round, dowel perches - they serve no purpose! Toys of all sorts are essential - and rotation even more so - they get bored quickly so have plenty types of toys - saying that Harvey has his favourite that stays in there all the time. Good luck - it's the best decision you have made to get a grey - the love and interaction is unbelievable

  13. OMG! I've just googled it! It is so called Newcastle disease because it was discovered here, in Newcastle upon Tyne! I can promise you all - I am 35 years old and from this obviously now famous place and never, ever heard of this disease!!! Hang fire and don't panic!!!! This is unless we've eradicated it and shipped it out elsewhere!!
  14. Newcastle disease! Newcastle disease! What on earth is that!! I was born in Newcastle, work in Newcastle and socialise in Newcastle - is this something to do with a Geordie pandemic? What is Newcastle disease Timotian?
  15. pearllyn wrote: Really! I have honestly never, ever even heard of one, let alone seen one! I'm going to see if I can get one!! Thanks Lyn x
  16. It took me ages to work out what the heck they were going on about too! This is a helpful link too for when they start talking about their U2s etc! http://www.greyforums.net/forums/other-birds/141456-abbreviations-of-all-species.html Don't ever think any questions are dumb - I'll have asked them before anyways!!!!
  17. What are we vaccinating them against? If I had strong reason to believe that there was a parrot ailment that could be prevented by a simple vaccine, then of course I would get Harvey vaccinated. I am not aware of any vaccinations that I should be giving Harvey - but if they were available and I deemed him at risk I certainly would go for it. I'm vaccinated, the kids are vaccinated - if I had a dog it would be vaccinated - so the parrot would too
  18. Crossfit - any chance of a translation!!! I've never heard of them either - but Biscotti certainly seems to be enjoying them! I don't think they are something readily available in the UK though
  19. Ah, very cute! I don't take Harvey to the shops - but do take him out in the car to my parent's house etc and to the beach and for walks. I've done this since I brought him home and had him trained with his Aviator (a harness is an absolute MUST if you are taking him out).. The earlier the better for socialisation - but remember the harness!
  20. Harvey goes mental - sometimes culminating after his attack on his toys by a lap of the house - doing the pterodactyl as Dan describes! Boy, would I not like to get in the way during one of these outbursts!!
  21. Ha Ha! I was like Dee - where's the parrot!! Great pictures Jess - looks like Yoshi is having a great time. Thanks for posting these x
  22. You find them everywhere - molting season or no molting season! You chase them round the house with the hand held hoover - it's a bit of a grey owner's sport
  23. So, the solution is "get rid of the teenagers" - I'm up for that - any offers on a 15 year old and 17 year old!!!! :woohoo:
  24. Thanks for making me feel better - at least I know I'm not the only one with a parrot with bad habits! As for the farting noises dame Judy - how on earth could he learn to do that - it doesn't happen in my house!
  25. Mmm - never mind our birdies Jill - I'd have a shot of those!!! Thanks for sharing that recipe - this is something even I could make
