 He's such a character - I think this proves they understand and it isn't just the mimickry that people think they do. Thank goodness they aren't allowed wine ~ I aint sharing that with nobody!!!!

Today was the day a year ago when I helped him over rainbow bridge. I had to do it, I couldn't see him suffer. Suffer he would have done though if I'd left him in the squalor I found him in, with his previous owners ~ but he had a long, happy life which sadly ended, but paved the way for Harvey. I have a lot to thank Spiky for too - had he not left me, I would never have found all of my friends here. So, I might have lost one very good little pal - but I made so many more due to him.

{Feel-good-000200A2} Ha Ha! I can't believe you're encouraging him Judy!!! Please note: No cats were harmed in the making of this avatar!!! Love it Bernie!

I don't live in Missouri - but I still want to comment!!! There's people from ALL over the world - and unfortunately if everyone started a thread with their state in the USA - that's 50 to start with - then if you add on everybody else from all over the world there wouldn't be room for anything else on the board!! It probably would be better if you started a thread asking SPECIFICALLY what you are interested in, then folk from around your area could answer you. Perhaps you could start a thread for all about "bird sitting" where someone could ask for members who live, for example, in Paris - then get people together that way? I just don't think it's feasible to have everyone start a thread and keep it personal to the exact area they are from

They are gorgeous! You'll be amazed - they are right - the baby will really pick you. What a couple of sweeties - thanks for sharing x

It's like the Hokey Cokey Debbie when they get going! I am at peace with the karma world now.....I think!!!

Hi Kat3k - Welcome to our family - glad you took the leap and joined!!! Firstly - if you go into your profile and into "Edit" at the top. It says "edit your details". Go into "forum settings" and then into "preferred message" and choose "oldest post first". Hey presto You certainly do not need to own a grey to join our family - you can post all you want within the threads on greys - but there is also a dedicated amazon room and also an "other birds" room. All birdie lovers are catered for ~ and we would love you to hang around and get to know you better (if I haven't scared you off!!!). Hope this helps PS. There's also a really exciting room called "off topic" down the bottom where you can discuss anything you like - one of the moderators there is so lovely

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2010/01/15 19:46

Oooh - so glad that you brought this up - Harvey this week has started a "new" body swerve! If he is up on a door or anything else high and I ask him to step up, or go to scratch him, he turns his head upside down and presses into my finger. I'm sure it's a diversion tactic! Do any of your fids do this - mine does both of what Dan describes!

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2010/01/15 19:15

Welcome dear friends ~ I know it's been a while since we last met, and I thank Ms Luvparrots for her reinstatement of such a needed group! I've come in from work, I've dusted, cleaned cages, cleaned a playstand, hoovered and now I am catching up on the forum........With a beer in my hand!! Bring on the F.A.R.T!!!! PS ~ New members always welcome!!!!!

.....and therefore I shall grant you karma in the "thumbs up" sense - I believe in real karma too - "What goes around, comes around". Amen to that!!

Does it signify a moment in your life Bernie? Is there an explanation behind your sudden mood change? I'm sure we would all be intrigued to find out!!

Jill is a lovely name It's such a difficult decision - this baby is going to have to live with the name for the rest of it's life - not an easy task to undertake! There's some beautiful Irish names - do you not want to go down the traditional route? It seems everyone else all over the world are pinching the Irish names - and those in Ireland aren't using them anymore. Watch out for initials too - I honestly work with someone called Bethany Una Marshall!!!

play a CD, Radio or TV/movie while you are away?

Thanks Charlene - I didn't take the language into account ~ here in the UK you can't even say "shoot" until after the watershed (9pm)! The colours and music are definitely a good idea though! See, simple things I don't think of! -
In the past I will put my hand up - I have given negative karma - but in the same breath I have PMd them and told them why (or in the past when there's been very disturbing entries I've aired my thoughts in public)! I had a long running battle (for no reason known to me) with a member who is now banned - who just reduced my karma for fun! I understand why some think it isn't a good to have a "thumbs down" - but tomorrow I may post something absolutely derogatory or insulting - but my karma will stay the way it is - insinuating I'm quite a nice, interesting person  !! Some people are cowards and hide behind the "thumbs down" - I'm not one of them!!!!

I've read threads about this before - and I am really interested as to why a load of people choose the children's channels for their fids? Do you put it on because we treat them like our human kids or is there another reason. I say this, because Harvey isn't next to the TV ~ so has a little radio tucked under his cage. I'd be really interested to know why you choose the children's channels xx -
danmcq wrote: So, what would they be called? African greys, correct me if I am wrong, are grey and they come from Africa - pretty simple!! There are your Congo African Greys (CAGs) and your Timneh African Greys (TAGs) so, what would these be? Surely they are not Red African Greys (RAGs) - because there's not a bit of grey in them!!

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2010/01/14 21:32

OOh, thanks for refreshing this thread. I'm just reading that at 8 months Harvey weighed 475g - he's more svelt now and weighs, on average, about 445 - 450 - must be all that flying he does too! Now, when you get that photo in the spandex.......
-
Oh, so not only are all these fab Amazons talking - but also take on accents that aren't their mom or dad's own!!! I'm loving this room - the colour and the antics cheers me up no end!!
