1. Unfortunately sometimes it seems "cool" for a young single guy to have a grey in the same way it is for him to have a pit bull or a doberman type dog, it makes him feel like a big man in the world. They seldom think of the work involved or potential problems and when they arise they just toss the poor animal/bird aside like an old car. I'm sorry if I sound harsh and I know on this forum alone there are many caring male grey owners, some of them probably single and I don't mean to generalise but our Shaun seems to me like one of these guys. I can't help but wonder where this poor grey has gone
2. Love it! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
3. It's Argyle Janet. Thanks for the advice, I'm phoning the avian vet on Monday as it's not been a good day lol
4. Awww Marvin is a real sweetie.
5. Oh what beautiful pictures! If I could I'd give you 10 karma for those but as it is you will have to put up with my feeble 1 lol Thank you for sharing these, you have a very beautiful grey.
6. Ooh good topic and very "topical" in our house atm. Beau HATES me on my laptop and will let me know in a similar way you yours. Argyle is ALWAYS vicious and can't be read at all, you just KNOW he will bite whenever possible...I have the wounds to prove it lol.
7. What an incredibly sad story. I hope this bird and this lady found each other
8. Don't you lag your garden tap Sheila?
9. Yes see the "Rant" post. We are all too willing to dispose of animals that don't conform to our requirements. One of the reasons the rescue centres are overflowing with unwanted pets, it's a crying shame.
10. I took the car but have parked it on a flat surface. Negotiating the hill was not for the faint-hearted this morning. Ah well, now we have bread, milk and potatoes we can live..for the time being
11. Pictures on the news this morning of southern Spain covered in a blanket of snow and still snowing, apparently this is unheard of. Scary weather!
12. I think Argyle is hormonal. I have caught him lying on his two-pronged perch several times. Today I opened his cage door to allow him out, this particular door opens down flat, Argyle walked out onto the door and promptly lied down on it and stayed there for several minutes. Steve says he scritched him this morning and Argyle tried to "lick" him. Another sympton I forgot to mention was wing flickering (something Beau never does) he has always done this since we have had him (6 months) but he has gone from doing this to actually flapping his wings the last day or so. What do you guys think?

Post edited by: Joolesgreyuk, at: 2010/01/09 14:55
13. Yes Dee always use the word "blow" with causion  and on the same subject, never ask a Portugese person to brush up for you? I know someone who did - almost caused a riot in the workplace! :woohoo:
14. LOL I'm debating the exact same thing: car or shank's pony? Must get a few essentials in today though as we're expecting another dump of snow tonight or tomorrow.

16. "Hi all My parrot flewa away on Wednesday the 6th of January. I've been searching high and low to find her, but no luck. She is a Sun Conure and her name is Blush. She has green, orange and yellow feathers. Very tame. Please, please help if you have any information. My contact details are ania.b.1983@hotmail.com or 07752749525. I am sick with worry as the temperatures were well below zero. I am hoping someone has taken her in. ther eis a reward if found safe." 17. Great pictures of Salsa but I gotta agree with Judy, Spock rules! I love reading these birdy adventures, amazon ahem I mean amazin'
18. What an interesting thread! I would agree with Dan that their hearing is excellent, they don't seem to mind if I have to come down the stairs in the middle of the night (though I try not to) but I'm sure they are aware of it. Sometimes if I'm up early in the morning and it is still dark one of them will give me a little birdy twitter to let me know they are aware. Evenings they get covered around 8 o'clock and for a while you can hear them but after 10 minutes or so they are quiet and that is the end of it until morning. Sometimes I wonder if they have heard a slight sound and you can tell by their response that they have. Gotta love 'em
19. Trying to stay warm. How are you doing Janet?
20. Well it seems our weather is making headlines around the world, I know it has been on German news as well as Australian news and I'm sure many other countries as well. Wednesday night in Benson, Oxfordshire the temperature fell to -18 making it the coldest place in the UK, my son lives there. Here in the south west we have more snow forecast for the weekend, today it isn't going to get above 0 even though it is a sunny day. I think many people are now making an extra effort (Bernie excluded ;-)) to get to work as the novelty of being home has worn off and we all need to earn a living. Stay safe everyone.
21. Who says we British are obsessed with the weather?
