  1. Thanks Dave. I think I may consider the exact one once this one breaks down..
  2. What do you like or don't like about it. At the moment I use the Germ Guardian Humidifier. During the cold winter months I have it on full blast 24 h./ 7 days a week. I'd like to know what else is out there just in case my current one breaks down. Although it's a great when it works, it's proven to be unreliable in the long term. I'm on my 3rd one in 2 years. Initially I purchased it because I loved the idea about not purchasing replacement filters. This is very disappointing and irritating..
  3. Thanks everyone!! @ Eshana, she likes to make up nonsensical words. Nothing to do with what I offer her. Seems to enjoy mixing things up! Today she was overheard singing.. Cherry Cherry little star, how I wonder where you are? LOL!!
  4. The other option is Cali Bird Nerds too! http://www.cabirdnerds.com/
  5. Her latest is Straw-Paya. She'd rather say that than Strawberry and Papaya separately. I elaborate more on my latest Blog post... http://mabelserendipity.blogspot.com/2011/12/way-emma-african-grey-likes-to-make-up.html I'm sure your talking greys make up words too? What words have your created?
  6. I would NOT trust purchasing polyrope at Home depot or any other hardware store for that matter. You just never know where the item has been or the source. I would not risk my parrot's health or safety. Instead, I recommend that you purchase from Cali Bird Nerds. Ann gives great service and even sells polyrope by the Roll. http://www.cabirdnerds.com/paulierope.html
  7. Ah! Understood. I know someone who's had her cotton Crawler for years!! Maybe over 10 years. It's really high quality, though I've never seen the sisal get a grip in person, I'd say the crawler is probably much lighter and not as stiff. In fact, it isn't stiff at all. During the new years holiday, I'm going to try a different way of hanging it for variety. I'll try to take photos too!
  8. Wow!! Lucky flock! I wish I had taken the plunge earlier? Is yours made out of Cotton too or is it one of those Get A Grip nets?
  9. Here you go! http://www.parrotstreasure.com/index.asp
  10. Really Tons of fun and very Happy I purchased one!! Emma African grey is VERY pleased! Feel free!! http://mabelserendipity.blogspot.com/2011/12/my-review-of-olivers-garden-crawler.html
  11. I love these toys!! I elaborate more on here.. http://mabelserendipity.blogspot.com/2011/12/parrots-treasure.html Here are videos to show you why!! [video=youtube;3Za6jT-mQX8]
  12. My buddy recommended this site. They have everything from natural shreddables, bagels, wood, leather, plastic parts etc, etc. She finds it VERY economical in the long run and she adores making toys for her flock to cater to their specific preferences. http://www.makeyourownbirdtoys.com/products/natural.htm
  13. Looking forward to your review of the book. I really like this site for alot of info too.. http://www.africangreys.com/articles.htm
  14. Before training can begin trust needs to be earned, and trust is a two way street. Being able to view things from your parrot's perspective is extremely important too. Try not to get caught up in seeing it from your *human* point of view. I would STRONGLY recommend that you read all material that you can get from Barbara Heidenreich. It will help you learn how to show your parrot he can trust you and vice versa as well as understand HIM better. It has helped me immensely in becoming the parrot owner that I am to my parrots. Purchase her dvds and her E-books. They are VERY valuable. http://www.goodbirdinc.com/
  15. Thank you Clb! Will definitely write about pionus parrots in the new year!
  16. That's awesome luvparrots! Looking forward to seeing what your parrots think about their new toys!! Do you have a thread re. Sterling so I can read about him? I only remember you having Ana Grey and Sully. Now you have an Amazon too?
  17. Very creative of your sweetheart! Congratulations!
  18. Luvparrots, which sizes did you purchase and were they for all three of your parrots?
  19. LOL!! Marcus is quite the whistler!! Would that be from the influences of Bunsen and Tybalt? LOL!!
  20. I OFTEN receive many messages wondering where I purchase toys for Emma African grey. To keep it simple and not redundant, I've included the info on my blog. Do try these places out. YOu won't be disappointed and stay tuned for new additions Soon. I did ALOT of holiday shopping for my parrots! http://mabelserendipity.blogspot.com/2011/11/great-online-places-to-shop-at-for-your.html
  21. Thanks Marcus's Mom. She's actually very small. She weighs 375 grams compared to Emma who is about 435 grams. Living with a severe macaw is pretty incredible. Until you experience it, you have no clue what you're missing. I certainly did not.
  22. It is called Mabel Serendipity in honour of my severe macaw Mabel and on my blog I elaborate why. Here is the link to my homepage http://mabelserendipity.blogspot.com/ I'd love to spend much of my time on parrot forums, however due to time contraints and other responsibilities I will not always be able to log on to forums and participate in interesting discussions. Instead I have a parrot blog where you all are welcome to see what me and my flock are up to and this will be another way of keeping in touch with all of you. As many of you know, I am owned by one White capped pionus parrot named Sachi, A severe macaw named Mabel and the very very well known Emma african grey. It is no secret that I am pretty passionate about all of them. The main focus of my blog will be on severe macaws because there is so little personal information on the internet from other severe macaw owners but I will also touch about general parrot topics which pretty much apply to all parrots. On my blog I will write about all kinds of parrot related topics ranging from toys, cages, nutrition, enrichment, places that I love to shop at for my parrots....etc. In a nutshell, I will pretty much be sharing my personal best practices when it comes to taking care of my own flock. If there is anything else parrot related that you'd like me to write about feel free to let me know. Thank you for reading.
  23. Of course I did not make these blocks. I'm certainly not handy enough for that. LOL!! I purchased them from here... http://parrotenrichment.com/products.html. The link is also located on my blog where I write a small review. http://mabelserendipity.blogspot.com/2011/12/awesome-parrot-enrichment-blocks.html
