Thanks for the very thoughtful reply Dave. Much appreciated. Today Tricia from Expandable Habitats told me one of the tests one can use is by placing a magnet on the metal that is *supposedly* stainless steel. If it holds then it isn't a very good quality stainless steel.. Last year I purchased a custom made stainless steel cage and I tried the magnet thing and to my dismay, it did hold on every part except the tray. I've been told that the tray was outsourced. I don't know what to think. I spent a ridiculously huge amount on that cage and now I am wondering what it is *truly* made of. The cage that I will be purchasing from Expandable Habitats is made out of 304 non magnetic stainless steel.

How does one know whether they've purchased a cage that is good quality stainless steel and won't eventually rust in the future? Any helpful feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I'm extremely pleased to say that I will be purchasing a custom cage from Expandable Habitats for Emma my african grey. Their cages are made of 304 stainless steel. I did alot of research before deciding to spend my hard earned money with this establishment. In a nutshell I chose them for Service, Business reputation, credibility and price. Tricia from EH has been very *efficient* at answering my questions in a timely and concise manner. She has also respected my time in every way possible at the moment and I appreciate that alot. . My criteria is as follows, Emma needs a custom cage that is The Right size Stainless steel and Secure Functional and practical One that will Last her forever. Tricia has also confirmed that their shelves can be mounted on any cage so.. I will also be purchasing a removable shelf to place foot toys on and to hang out on. I will also have 2 or 3 feeder doors installed. One each on the side panels and one on the back panel. This is to permit easier access to those hard to reach places when installing perches and toys.. The cage will be Flattop and on wheels. Slide in grate and tray. I've had a chance to research the bowls that Expandable Habitats seel and will be purchasing 2 (24 Oz bowls) and a huge 46oz one. They are VERY impressive and truthfully, they seem to be the cadillac of holders and Bowls. No rusting over time on the rings or bowls, medical grade, a bit pricey but very worth the money. http://expandablehabitats.com/

Ever have one of those days where you come home feeling so fatigued and stressed out? The day did not go at all as you intended and it was miserable day in so many ways? That's the kind of day I had yesterday. My day started very early so I could take care of Emma and Sachi matters, went to work and after work I went to University. I only got home at midnight and felt like.. When I got home I gave Emma some warm mash and then I sat with her for 5 minutes before tucking her in for the night. This is how our conversation went. Emma: How are you? Me: I'm ok Emma. Emma: You ok? Me. I'm ok sweetie. Emma: I love you. Me : I love you too. Emma: Give me a kiss? Me: ( so I blow her a kiss but try to keep it quieter than usual as to not make so much noise and wake up Sachi) Emma: Give me a kiss? Me: (Give her another *quiet* kiss) Emma: Give me a kiss? Me: (now I'm realizing that she keeps asking me for kissing because she doesn't understand why she's receiving *quieter* kisses than usual. so I give her the *usual* kiss and hope she'll stop asking. Emma: I love you!! Me: I love you too. Emma: So tight. Me: So tight. What can I say? Emma really makes me melt sometimes.

Yes.. I had the same little knob at the bottom. Emma was able to figure it out after the 2nd day. It is very very dangerous and a parrot can seriously hurt themselves if the platter and the buffet ball come crashing down on their head. I do not like that aspect of this buffet ball kabob and this is why I made the NECESSARY adjustments to provide a safe and fun toy for my parrots. Jme.

Oh yes.. here's a blurb I had written about this same problem. Today I came home from a long day's work and to my utter horror and astonishment found the Kabob portion hanging by its lonely self. and the buffet ball and platter on the floor of Emma's cage. Obviously Emma had managed to tinker with the mechanism at the end of the skewer and once the buffet ball and platter hit the ground, they both stayed there untouched the whole day. Thank goodness, they did not break. I have decided not to use the skewer anymore, Instead I have replaced the skewer with my Mother Pluckin toy skewers and for Sachi's I am using a simple Vegetable kabob skewer for parrots. It works very well with the Buffet ball. They are much more secure at the bottom and it would be pretty impossible for Emma or Sachi to unscrew them on purpose or inadvertently. My So bought Emma and Sachi some new swings today. They love them and I am just as pleased.Hurrah!! It seems to trump ALL other swings in the oscillation department and satisfies Emma's love of swinging very well. When Emma wants to drink she'll say " want some water?" Most of the time she actually wants to drink but occasionally she says this because she likes to see me run to serve her. This morning I was pretty preoccupied with other matters so I wasn't really paying much attention to her. When she observed that she was being ignored she switched to * Mommy's going to go make some WATER* I thought that was hilarious. That certainly caught my attention and of course I scurried to go get her some fresh water.

What wonderful news!! I love happy endings!! Glad Isaac is back home where he should be.

Just checking in to remind you to STAY Strong, stay the course and don't let doubt or despair weigh you down. Stay focused on finding Isaac. My thoughts are with the both of you. He is not far.

Ok. This is for Elvenking I may be breaking forum rules. I really don't know. Either way, I am going to post this thread in light of what has happened with Isaac. I am a very active member of the Avian Avenue Forum and this is the thread that was posted the moment I lost Emma. She was gone for almost 50 hours and I also felt like a part me had died or was on the verge of dying. I hope you are able to gather strength, determination and hope from Emma's thread. There is ALOT of helpful and PRACTICAL information on it. More than I could ever take the time to write about on here. Thankfully, I found my Emma and I hope you find your Isaac too. I'm so sorry to hear this.. but you can't give up. You need to alert all of the vet offices, shelters, neighbors, EVERYONE you come in contact with. You need to post flyers. I know it's VERY VERY hard right now.. I've been there. Ask everyone you know for help. At this point, time is of the essence. I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I hope Isaac is found by good people and returned to you.

So proud of her. Today Emma climbed up on her own and stayed for about 30 seconds. This was her FIRST time!! She climbed up on it by using Sachi's T-stand. She hasn't set foot on the grapevine yet. I know she really wants too see what the hype is about. Will work on that in the next few days!!
