1. Congrats Dan!{Feel-good-00020114}
2. She is so pretty and so smart.
3. Until I joined parrot forums… I had no idea that it was possible to purchase a parrot that you had never met in person over the internet. Not sure if I'd ever go that route. I have seen parrots in person that I have found very attractive yet when I held them.. I realized we did not "click" and the attraction dissipated quickly. I think I'd feel very nervous about purchasing a live creature through a "virtual medium" without ever having had the chance to touch or lay eyes on them I'm curious to know about those of you who met your parrots for the first time when going to pick them up at the airport. I'd like to hear about all of you experiences.. Prior to purchase and how did you come to choose that particular parrot as opposed to their siblings. Please share any success stories relating to this subject as well as any disappointments if any. I would like to know as much as possible.

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/09/28 03:23

5. What a lucky Koko to have such beautiful scenery to enjoy.{Feel-good-00020114}
6. It is very important to place your parrot in a pet carrier when doing any kind of car travelling. Should you have a car accident and have to brake suddenly .. being in the carrier will help to protect your parrot should he be tossed out of the car. An example would be those pet carriers that are used for cats.. these would be considered appropriate.

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/09/26 19:29
7. It's perfectly normal to have feelings of insecurity. It will take extra work and vigilance on your part.. but if done right... the rewards will be worth the effort.
8. {Feel-good-0002006E}Buckley is a real riot when he says "Oh MY God!"
9. Congrats on the new addition of your new B&G. I love those parrots. First off, you need to quarantine the new parrot in order to make sure you keep your existing parrot and the newcomer healthy and safe. The time frame is usually 30 days. Ideally the new comer should be in a separate room. Both parrots will be able to hear each other and holler to one another but not see each other in close proximity. There are other threads on this forum that go in to more detail about the IMPORTANCE of quarantine.. so please do the necessary reading. After the quarantine is up.. I would strongly recommend that you always supervise when they are outside of their cages. There is no telling how they will react to each other. You might have no choice but to have separate one on one time with each of them but you won't know until the time comes. Goodluck.

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/09/26 18:23
10. The smaller parrots just don't seem to realize that they are really asking for trouble sometimes. My pionus is always trying take over Emma's cage and Atom even thought she has her own. Go figure. Thankfully Emma is truly a sweetie pie and can't be bothered giving Sachi a dose of her own medicine.
11. Yes.. I would say she's trying to communicate. She's merely practicing right now.
12. I think you should speak to your avian vet about her diet and see what their professional advice is regarding her current diet and what he recommends for her. Did you have a chance to take her to the vet yet?
13. It is very funny!{Feel-good-00020114} http://www.theperch.net/discussion/showthread.php?t=71252
14. Soft perches will him be less abrasive for her beak for sure.
15. It's a case by case situation. Just follow her cues.
16. Emma and Sachi sleep sleep on the highest perch in their cage. I partially cover both of their cages for privacy, darkness and to give them a sense of being tucked in.
17. Can't say I'm crazy about the cage in that picture. The Depth seems very small.
18. Brought to you by The Bird Channel. http://www.birdchannel.com/bird-magazines/birds-usa/birds-usa-2008/bird-species-quiz.aspx I'm the african grey.
19. I know of parrots owners who use coconut oil in their birdie mash and it is supposedly very healthy. I suppose it must be healthy as long as it isn't fried up. Never used it myself though.
20. Welcome aboard. Her name is so cute. Don't hesitate to ask alot of questions. You will receive alot of answers from very experienced and helpful grey owners.
21. I keep my grate in all the time. Every day I remove the bottom newspapers and use a paper towel to remove dried on crap on the grate. Once every single week I wash the grate with HOT water and Oxyfresh Gel. Parrots = Mess and this is VERY normal. Welcome to being a parrot owner. 22. Very cool Dee. I truly believe that these will make great interactive and stimulating toys for our parrots. Especially if they are able to watch us while we are making them. They will be intrigued by our concentration.{Feel-good-00020114}

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/09/24 02:11
