1. No it is not healthy for them to ingest any wood.
 2. I've heard of some parrot owners giving chicken bones to their parrots and their parrots loving it. When I offered one to Emma and Sachi they just looked at me as if to say "Are you serious?"
 3. yes the area around their eye will blush during intimate moments.
 4. Thanks everybirdy for your kind compliments. Emma is a DNA tested female and turned 19 months old today! She started talking when she was about 10 months old and her first phrase was "I love you". If you go on my youtube page you will be able to see how she has evolved. I am very happy to have captured so much of her on video. Regarding the music in the background. It is children's music which I purchased on Itunes. Sometimes I sing to her and sometimes I don't. Emma truly loves listening to her music. In fact it is a daily morning ritual. My advice that I can offer is to verbalize as much as possible with your african grey. Make a big deal out of all their accomplishments whether big or small. Make every experience with them a happy and positive one and ALWAYS acknowledge them I do believe that my parrots know that they are truly loved because of the time and effort spent with them. I think things changed a lot for Emma the day she decided that she trusted me. Once she decided to solidify our relationship and bond with me, she became interested in anything and everything I say to her. I truly believe that all african greys have endless potential but it is up to their caregiver to tap in to their desire to expose their abilities.
 5. I would strongly recommend that you place your parrot cage in an area that is more peaceful and free from any type of toxic or fragrant fumes.

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/10/07 15:30

It wasn't difficult to introduce these treats at all and they both really LOVE them. I gave her 3 pieces of Powertreats every day for 2 months chopped in 1/4 pieces. Finally after 2 months I brought in the pellets and it was accepted very readily. I choose to serve 2 types of pellets which are Harrisons and Roudybush. I don't wish to depend solely on one pellet. Today they receive pellets and Powertreats every single day and love it.{Feel-good-00020114} 3 meals a week I serve my homemade mash and everyday they eat nuts, vegetables and fruits. A few times a week I serve sprouts, and seeds. My opinion is to offer a varied diet and to serve all types of safe food in moderation. I also do not purchase any type of prepackaged parrot seed, dried fruit and nut mix. I found that alot of it tended to go to waste because they always foraged for what they liked best and wasted the rest. I purchase my own organic seeds and nuts at a health food store and share this with them. Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/10/07 14:50

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/10/07 14:52

 20. You all might have to turn up the volume to hear this. Didn't realize the music was too loud.:blush: Emma loves trying to sing this song and likes to make up her own lyrics as she goes along. I think it's adorable when she says Eee I Eee I Oh!! like... Emma here, Emma there!
 21. How often do you wash your cages and perches? What do you clean with? I remove the soiled papers every morning and I wash my cages ONCE a week EVERY week. I use Oxyfresh cleansing gel. I find that it removes the dried on poop very easily and thoroughly. {Feel-good-00020114}
