I have spoken to some of the experts in the bird world and was told that macaws especially greenwings have smelly poop around this time of the year or should i say spring time. Is anyone else experiencing this with there birds. I did take mine to the vet and he put him on antibiotics and told me to offer yogurt. Would like to hear others opinions please

It is so amazing when one connects with a bird. When i received the email from the lady and look over some of the details, i figured i will go and take a look but wont bring her home. Well the moment i laid my eyes on her i just knew i had to have her. I feel so complete having her in my life. Us crazy bird people well oh i guess we just need to stick together. Strangers just dont get it. Thanks you all for welcoming her home and to the group. We will share our pictures and day to day with you all.

Will do thanks

This is my newest addition to the family. She is 32 years old and have been on a seed only diet. Her feet have these weird growths on them. Like spikes. I will have to see if i can get a close up picture of it. It does seem to bother her since she will sit and pick on it. Not sure if this is just due to age or something to be concerned about. Thanks in advance.

I would like to introduce my newest addition to the family. I adopted a panama amazon that is 32 years old. She is absolutely adorable. I never thought i could take in older birds but she has totally proven me wrong. When i picked her up they were handling her with a stick. She sits on my shoulder and gives kisses and is just as sweet as can be.

I made these last week for my babies and also for my website. I think they came out pretty cute. lol

Aww thanks you all. Sorry been missing in action, lol. My computer was running slow and after the new build i could not log back in on here for days. So glad Inara, got her toys and is enjoying them. Yes the beads are stuck in there but good with doll rods. But with time they will get them out if they chew on the platform, Also the beads do spin around for more enjoyment. So glad to hear we are doing well, by both human and bird customers.

Not sure why i could not upload them (

What age do I introduce my baby grey to his cage
carolz7 replied to Charlie13012014's topic in Cages & Homes
We usually received our babies at 3 weeks old. You can take her out and move her to a Tupperware container with either heating pad underneath and for nights if it is not too cold where you live, you can put a lamp above the box, it has to be a red light bulb. We raised about 500 babies like this. -
We are getting along so good. Rosalita is 32 years old. When she came to me the lady used a stick to get her in and out of the cage. I did that for a couple of days just to realize she is most lovable, adorable bird ever. She was only reaching to your hand with her beak to stabilize herself. This is week 3 now and i am so very happy with my old girl. Never thought i could take in someone else's bird. You would never know her age unless you were told. So remember although babies are fun, there are sooo many unwanted birds out there that need a home and will make fabulous pets

I just adopted an older bird and would like to get her a new cage. She is 19 year old african grey and if you would post some pictures of your cage that would be great. Her cage is small and not on the nice side so i would like to replace it but dont no where to start. Appreciate thanks

This is our newest addition to our family. Meet Cypres she is a lady and lost her mommy after 19 years. She went to a family with no bird experience and after a 1 1/2 they no longer want her. They brought her to me yesterday and we will try to give her a forever home. My heart goes out to these poor babies just because they are older no one wants them. We raised birds for many years and my family was involved in hand raising. Both my boys who are adults came home yesterday and thought she was a new baby. They were fooled. What is wrong with people?????????? Okay done ranting and raving. Looking forward to posting lots of pictures. She is not in the best of shape was eating cheap walmart food and junk food. We are going to do our best to convert her to a good diet and lots of love and new toys.

I am so excited to announce that i will be adding an african grey to my flock. I was asked if interested in giving Cyprus a new home since the family can no longer take care of her. After much debating with myself, lol i excepted. My main reason was that she is 18 years old and her previous owner had passed and given her to the current family whom have had her for almost 2 years. My heart absolutely breaks when i hear these poor poor birds being passed around from family to family once there owners pass. I so wish that people would make an effort to go and see what some of these birds look like and the conditions they end up in when being passed around and around. This might not be the place to put this but was not sure where else to put it. Make sure you make plans for your birds people once you are gone. And dont think because you are young that you have plenty of time. I just lost a very close bird friend and she was in her early 40's. Came up with the flu and we are just all totally shocked of her passing. I will be post happy posts after this Cyprus comes to our home on Saturday.

Hope not to offend anyone with this question but here goes. Which is the better amazon to get. I have had a yellow nape whose goal was to destroy me. He would chase after me to rip me apart. I loved my dyh but oh boy when he got hormonal i was prettified of him. I have since done a lot more research on these little green guys and they say there are some that maybe dont get as aggressive as mine did. I would give anything of get my baby back which of course is not going to happen. Any suggestions on which i could\. I am now more clued in on what to do when they get like this.

I absolutely love these and they last for a while since the shoe part is one solid block of wood. My greys love these but i hate seeing them destroy the little shoes. Thought to share

I made the mistake to stay with one vet for way too long. And his pricing was so outrageous but i liked him and felt he knew it all. I cannot believe how much money i spent for nothing. This new vet i dont feel the same about but he seems to know what he is doing also and a 1/3 of the price. Just recently we had to put our lady bird dog down after 14 years of being with us. First vet wanted $200 some, just know it was well over $200. Called the new vet, $53.00. Same with the birds, my visit is now under $100 and the previous no matter what you go for and i am not talking a ton of tests but you walk out the door 400, 500 he loves that number, lol Sorry got side tracked. I am doing 2 things currently. First off we are doing a behavior modification compound medication. Meds are $12 a month, just go to the compound pharmacy and they make it up. Second i am using the spray on my website, especially when i see him start over preening. Doing good and its working. I believe its a 2 month treatment. Hope this helps.
