  1. How old is your tiel? Excuse my ignorance, but can they talk or immitate sounds?
  2. I am not an expert on this, but I look forward to the replies of more expert members. I guess now, since the behavior is new, its easier to work on it and stop it. Does your grey have toys to play with, normally this would keep her busy for a while. Maybe she is plucking out of boredum? And are you sure she is plucking? Did she remove a feather completely? Or is it a broken feather that she had to remove?
  3. Great photo of your family and I love Ziggy's photo too. Im glad you too are getting along fine. With time she willlearn to trust you and you will trust her as well. Looks like a start of a great relationship. Aint it funny the once she knew she got you, she was laughing... those greys are so smart
  4. Wwow amazing photos and amazing birds. I really loved them, thanks for sharing them.
  5. Helo Stress David and I agree with Ray, we all love pictures, so if you have a grey, we would like to see Welcome to our grey family
  6. Kazoo is a very cute name and Im glad you shared this with us. Sounds really interesting that after so many years, she has learned a new word. Congratulations for both of you
  7. Its just a normal thing, my grey has it too. The sandy perch helps a little and when the vet grooms him he smoothes it out. Nothing to be concerned about... but keep an eye on his beak to make sure there is nothing unusual.
  8. Totally agree with KimKim. This forum provides tons of information about training, nutrition, behavior and lots of opinions from loving grey owners. Also you can find online many trusted sources. Just read and once you get your grey you will start developing your own experience. I dont see that you have to pay money to listen to someone's advice when you dont know how reliable it is or when you can get even better advice for free. If I were you and I was planning on getting a grey, I would start looking for a decent breeder, pay him/her a visit, observe the grey, ask as many questions as you want. Once you get your grey, invest in a good avian vet visit to make sure he gets a health check and after that you need to invest your time and effort with your grey to make sure he/she lives a happy and healthy life eating the right food. Good Luck
  9. He is just angry with you for a while, but it will be back like the old days in no time, just relax and try tyo have fun with him and you will see he is the same old grey...
  10. Albert is so cute, I loved the pix, thanks for sharing them with us. I guess Im spending a lot of time on the forum nowadays as I miss Kookie my CAG so much. (Im on Holiday in Europe and he is in Kuwait), but its just another 2 weeks and Ill be with him again...
  11. hi Is there a problem that you are facing with your grey that you want to consult about? On this forum there are many expert members, so I suggest you get their feedback if there is an issue with your greys behavior. In this case many members can share their ideas and benefit from the others as well.
  12. Did you try pellets? They keep Kookie busy during my absence, I mix Harrison's high potency with Harisons Power Treats (peanut butter flavor). You can also add an almond and maybe some other nuts.
  13. Looking forward for pix too and glad to have you in our family
  14. I guess you should never force him to do anything. The whole situation started because you forced him. You should follow his pace. When I said spend time with him, it doesnt have to be with him stepping up and coming to you. Where ever he is sit osmewhere close or in the same room and talk to him laugh or sing to him. Play with a toy next to him, it might interest him and he will come to you. Eat and work next to him, let him see you relaxed and smiling and luaghing and start to link you to having fun instead of fear... Rebuilding the trust will take some time and a lot of patience, but it will happen, just take it easy
  15. Keep your hopes up Paul, remember that Murphy needs you and he can't wait to be with you. You are doing all you can and all our hearts & minds are with you... This article should be very helpful. Let's stay positive. Think of what you are gonna do as soon as you see him...
