  2. Welcome to our forum Jana. We like photos, so we are waiting for some from you
  3. Hi Jana, I have flown with Kookie before and after considering the options, its better if your grey flies with you in the plane, it means less time away from you. Basically most airlines will not allow you to take him along in the cabin, but they would allow you to take him as excess baggage. This means they weigh him in his travel cage at the checkin counter in the airport and you have to pay for it as excess baggage. This is mainly cheaper than flying him as cargo. He goes on the plane into a special room in the plane. It should be a pressurized compartment, where normally pets fly. You have to check with the airlines in advance to be sure the flight can accommodate pets. Also you have make sure he has enough food and water for the flight. The travel cage is better a plastic pet carrier, so that he cannot see through except from one side. This will make sure he is not scared if other animals are travelling along with him on the same flight. Check with the airlines about the carry box standards, they would give you the dimensions and specifications. Also make sure to have all the travel documents ready so that you will not face any delays at the airport upon arrival. Normally for greys to travel, you need to get 2 cities permits, one is the export permit from your country of departure and the second is a cities import permit in the destination country. they might also require bird flew test and a vet health certificate. You have to inquire about those. Have a safe trip
  4. Hope it will pay off soon Paul and you will get Murphy back... Cant wait for the good news
  5. Still hoping and praying too
  6. ewww scary, but Im glad your baby is doing fine, those greys always succeed to get into trouble...
  7. Great pix indeed I love them, such adorable babies...keep posting pix
  8. Still hoping & praying for good news as well. Murphy... be strong ...
  9. For the Harness, put it on him for some time around 20 to 30 minutes few times a week. This should get him used to it and eventually you be glad to take him out with you without any risk of him flying away. He would also enjoy the outdoors with you. As for the nails, I do file Kookie's nails a little every month. Normally we go to the vet and he files his nail and beak every 3 months, in between I file his nails just to keep them rounded so they wouldnt scratch when he walks over me. What helps is the perch as well. I got him a sandy perch and it does keep his nails smooth. Now if you want to file his nails, you can use a regular nail file, use the rough side first then the smooth. You might need to get him used to it first so that he wouldnt be scared. Start by touching his nails, playing with his toes and introduce the file slowly. You dont want that to be a bad experience for him. He wouldnt like it but he would tolerate it. Always give him a treat afterwards so that he associates the filing with something positive. Im sure other members will also give you some advice.

    nail bleeding

oh so sorry to hear baout this and I hope it heals up soon. Did the bleeding stop? Just take care he doesnt pick on his wound and cause more bleeding. Also I would say until you can get in contact with the vet, keep him warm as he lost blood. Also make sure he eats and drinks as much as possible. The vet will give you the most accurate information
  15. wow cool idea, never though of it before...cool
  16. Adorable little baby....so cute, thanks for sharing those... How can you work when such a cutie pie is on your lap...I cant get any work done either under the circumstances...lol Did you start harness training? I always ask this question when its a baby, because the earlier you start the easier it is especially if you enjoy taking him places with you... good luck and keep posting his adorable photos.
  17. Hi Kathy, congratulations on your new family member and welcometo our family. Happy Birthday too and its a great present that you will celebrate and enjoy for many many years. Actually not talking for now is a blessing...once he starts to talk and babble you will enjoy it...but wait till he reaches a point where he never stops talking....lol Welcome again and you must know, we love photos, especially baby photos, so please post some of Yuki...
  18. Im glad hes been sighted and surviving well. If this place was a good source of food, he might be there again, so ask the lady to keep an eye on the surrounding. I really have high hopes that you will see him soon... keep up the spirit Paul...

  20. yes you are right, although we all hope this day will never come. Guess once you are owned by a grey, you will always belong with a grey...
  21. ohhhhh too cute to be true, I envy you Dave for those babies, they are so sweet and looks like you're having fun with them...keep on posting pix, we love them
  22. oh so cute the way they line up, love the pix, thanks for sharing... love those baby pix
  23. Love the red feathers on his bottom, Dayo is a very cute baby...love the photo Totally agree with Dave and I think that clipping his wings so early when he is just developing his flight muscles will really affect his confidence. And clipping is no guarantee that the parrot wont fly. When I first got my baby grey, her wings were clipped, but this didnt stop her from attempting flight. She was able to do more than 15 meters distance (with harness) but it was clumsy flight and she crashed a couple of times. So clipping doesnt mean they cant fly and escape. They can still escape, but this time they dont have any deffence against being out and will be an easy prey... I would consider keeping him caged, if you are not confident with the caretakers in your absence. As for later, I guess you have to wait a bit before clipping and in the mean time, be extra careful with doors... Its your choice, but personally Im totally against clipping.
  24. yes take him to the vet immediately, u did nothing wrong, but he might be coming down with something, so vet asap please and update us...
