Keep up the faith Paul and stay positive despite all this... my heart stays with you & Murphy
-
wow great idea, but how do you connect them to cage or other places? Cn you show a close up photo, I would surely like to try those for Kookie
-
Keep offering food and abserve well the weight for a couple of days. If there is any less activity, please go to the vet asap. I hope things work fine and keep us updated
-
If shes not eating the formula, did she eat something else? If not then I would deffinitly go to the vet. Also you can consult with the breeder where you got her from.

New grey owner and a bigger family now.
ranaz replied to Drea07's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Oh what a greyt story. Rocky is so lucky I guess. And its so sweet how he has been progressing with your love and care. It makes me so d#@!% angry to think of owners who neglect greys as Rocky's previous owners...how can they do this? Im so glad you have rescued him... Welcome to our family and you must know that we all love photos, so hoping to see Rocky soon. -
Im donno anything about amazons, so other members will be more helpful, but I would say keep track of her weight on daily basis. Also try to feed more often...
-
I am not an expert, but if he is losing weight, give him as much as he would take (increase the amount gradually) and maybe you can give him one additional meal. On the other side, does he have the same activity level?

This is a scam, dont fall for it. So many people are doing this, once you transfer the money, they disappear. No one will rehome their pets this way. There are other real sources for adopting pets. Anyone who requests money wiring is probably a scammer. Most of them are based in Africa, especially Cameroon, so be careful. If you want to adopt or rehome, check out the animal shelters in your area. You can check also the vets in your area. Check the local newspeper... Normally people who want to rehome their pets are interested to meet you and see how does their pet react with you. They will never just ship the pet... If you want to be sure, suggest that you will go there in person to check the parrots yourself and to collect them in person. You will see that those people will disappear...lol Im sure other members will say the same...Im glad that you posted here before you pay, hopefully you are saved from being ripped off.

I thought I'd share some mugshots of a tiny 5 week old friend of mine

Sorry to hear about Amos. It is a great responsibility to take care of baby parrot. I have experience breeding canaries few years back. I always loved the babies but cannot underestimate the responsibility of taking care of them and making sure all is clean, disinfected and fresh. Enjoy your baby and thanks for sharing the pix -
This is so cute, thanks for sharing this with us

I like so much...

Actually when you buy the harness a video is included in the package. You might wanna buy one harness initially and if both parrots accept it, then you might buy another. On this forum there are many posts about harness training. You can find a lot on the youtube as well. Ill try to find a link and post it for you. Personally I have the aviator harness for my grey. Its a good one. There are other brands and you can check the advice of other members on what brand to get. Check this out: http://theparrotuniversity.com/aviator_harness.php and here is a video on how to use it:

Pictures please... This is getting very exciting. You have such a big heart Samy. Perhaps Ziggy being a little jealous will make her behave better to win ur attention. Maybe she will catch some good behavior from the new comer. Can't wait for pix

oh... so cute... Im really tempted to get a baby grey... although one grey has already taken over my home...lol -
wow great photos of both birds... I loved them I just had an idea, why dont you get them both harness trained. Since they are babies it will be an easy job, this way you can take them out with you and they will be safe...

I loved the pix and Cocoa enjoying his fruits and the new places. Seems he got used to being in new places, as he seems like a small adventurer who is eager to try everything. Thanks for sharing

Hi again Paul, Check this, maybe you could post here as well http://www.parrotmag.com/lost-and-found-register

I keep coming back to this post and every time it amuses me, I love the updates Sammy and this one was really fun to read. Im sorry if that annoys you, believe me I dont mean to, but I really like your Ziggy updates.... Its so funny how she is so completely tame with your hubby and she attacks you with cold blood. And the way she caught the word...lol thats how greys do it, you keep repeating a world one thousand times for them to learn it and then once, only once you say a bad word in anger and they take on to it...lol so typical

Wow good news, I feel revived now with this news, that he is surviving well and not so far away. Spreading the news seems to pay off. Keep the faith Paul, your baby is around looking for you...

baby african grey gave to me.by my grand ma :) ..have some questions tho.
ranaz replied to carl0707's topic in The Nursery
Wow, they are such a sweethearts, so cute? WHat is teh other parrot? WHat are their names? Im not so experienced with baby parrots but I think you should keep feeding him as long as he needs to be fed. When he is big enough to eat on his own, he will refuse the hand feeding, or continue to eat from your hand, but still eat enough on his own. Offer him the formula twice per day and if you can offer him veggies another twice per day in different times. You can start to offer him pellets as well. As for the cage, I know he can go into a cage once his feathers have grown and once he knows how to perch. If you do put him in a cage, make sure you put the perches as low as possible so that in case he falls, it wouldnt be dangerous. Also put some towels at the bottom, just in case he falls down. Maybe a couple more weeks in the plastic container until you feel he can perch well. Make sure all the utensils you have get cleaned thoroghly and disinfected cos at this fragile age, they have very low immunity. Always wash your heands well before you feed him or handle him. For the utensils and toys, boiling water should kill the germs. Im sure some more experienced members will give you better advice. This forum has a lot of info, so read as many threads as you can and you will learn a lot. Congratulations for having them and sorry about your grandma...May she RIP... -
Has anyone seen a grey learning to pluck from another grey? I know greys catch habits and words form each other, but would they learn to pluck also? Any experience on that? My grey always learns words quickly from my brothers grey when we put them together, he also learned some whistles and screaming from him. On the other side, my brothers grey learned hanging and swinging upside down from my grey (which is something he didnt do before). It always amazes me how fast they catch from other greys and for that Im concerned that in the same way, a grey could learn plucking from another grey.

Kookie eats a slice of Orange everyday and he loves it. Once in a while I give him some mango and he also loves the mango seed... its a good source of vitamin C. Lets hear what the others have got to say about this.
