Thanks everybody for sharing ... still trying on new veggies, but he wouldnt have them...In the mean time with less fruits and almost no seeds....he is eating really eating pellets... early morning I hear him munching on them, or late after his sleep time...now he even likes them...wow amazing and Im so glad.. He still eats the red chili peppers , a good source of vitamin A, loves almonds (source of calcium) and likes fresh corn, orange and a slice of banana from time to time, so we keep that up. He plays with carrots , throws around teh broccoli and doesnt touch the rest... he even says nooooo, nooooo Kookie nooooo...guess a strong statement of his dislike...

ok so ive had some success in pellets in the last week, now Kookie gets less fruits and no nuts in the morning. I have to go to work from 7:30 to 5 pm. His food bowl is full of pellets and he is eating them. Im mixing 3 types from Harrison's: the adult formula, the peanut flavoured & the chili flavored and he is munching on them. I even tried a couple of days with only pellets and observed his poop to know if he is really eating well or just shredding them...and the amout of poop was huge....too much actually pellets make around 50% of his food now so its a big jump. I refill them daily and he is enjoying them. On daily basis i kept the corn on the cob and the red chili (loaded with vitamin A). He gets an almond or 2 a day (has calcium) and hes as happy as ever. Banana every few days, and finally he is eating carrot, the small baby carrots.... so I guess its good I think the pellets should give him the basic needs, so what do u think guys? He still doesnt eat green, except the seeds of green okra or seeds of capsicum, but no broccoli or any green leaves
  7. HI There munch, First congratulations on your pregnancy...great news. Well My brother & his wife have faced the same dillema when my sister in law got pregnant, but they have found a compromise. They have kept their parrot coucou yet they have restricted his freedom to one room in the house. Whenever he is in the living room with them, he has to be in the cage, but he still can fly around i the guest room. He gets few hours of freedom daily in the guest room, where my brother gets to play with him. My sister in law avoided that room most of the time and of course cleaning that room was the husbands duty. Now their baby Lynn is almost 10 months old. Coucou still enjoys flying in the guest room, but has to play in his cage when he is in any other room. Seems to work out fine. Baby Lynn loves watching him and he loves immitating her voice. Seems to work out perfectly for all... Hope you find your own solution soon. Rana
  8. Im glad it worked out...hope it will always work for her

So Kookie likes some veggies and fruits but he doesnt try anything else. His daily meals constitute of the following: A slice of Banana a chili pepper OKRA a slice of corn on the cob a slice of orange a slice of apple that he rearly touches a cherry or and grape 2 to 3 almonds a peanut in shell pomegranate a small ammount of sunflower seeds (hes crazy about them anytime) Harrisons pellets (he eats only when hes very hungry and there is no other choice) Ive tried everything else but he doesnt even try from snow peas to beans to carrots to sweet potato to zuccini.... he only shreds and throws Do you think the above is enough to get him his daily dose of vitamins? Is it too much sugary (he likes fruits more than veggies)?
  11. So typical of a grey....Kookie is always more interested in the camera that most of the shots I get are of his beak...
  12. PLease post a picture next time, or even better teach us how you did it
  13. Yes thats it, stay on the positive side...hopefully both Mino and the other grey will find their way home beofre Christmas Keep us posted
  14. Great photos of a great parrot....she looks so happy
  15. Loosing a grey is the scariest thing ever, please be careful, cos if something startled her and she flew away....it would be terrible
  16. Stay positive and keep trying, we are all sending our hopes your way, be strong my friend and think that Mino is somewhere waiting for you to find him...many members have found their greys after a long time. The idea of checking at those places where they sell cages is a great idea. Also pass the flyer to the vet clinics and to any animal shelters in town. Schools are also good ideas cos Kids spread the news like thunder.... Im still praying for you both:)
  17. So cute...more pictures pls
  18. So cute...welcome to the grey family...Kali is pretty smart
  19. Normally Kookie is always interested in new things if they are small, apple size or less, but whenever they get bigger, he is either curious or scared...I took the advice of some members here and I introduced the boa slowly, first I put it at the far end of the room, then caressed it and played with it several times saying the word nice and good boy...everyday I brought it a bit closer and finally I put it on the floor bellow his cage and tied some almonds to it. In 2 hours the almonds have vanished and I knew that Kookie was not scared anymore. He kept off it for few days, and climbed on it only if there were some almonds on....now he is on it almost all the time hanging and swinging like a monkey... The best way is a slow introduction, though it doesn't work with everything. Despite all the things I tried with the harness, Kookie still would not accept it on him, he gets terrified.... You have to keep trying and introduce slowly. The more your grey gets introduced to new stuff the less he is scared from other stuff. Have fun & good luck
  20. Thats so funny...never heard of such a thing...
  21. What keeps Kookie busy for a while, is the toy found inside the Kinder chocolate eggs. I actually give him the yellow plastic egg with the toy in it and he spends few minutes trying to open that. Once the mission is accomplished he starts by shredding the instructions paper then starts to work on destroying those small colorful toys. He actually loves it...
  22. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping you will find him soon, please keep us updated
