1. Kookie gets one too. find them scattered on the beach so I bring them home and soak them in water in order to make sure any salt is out. After several soaks and washes, he gets them, like once a month, but . He shreds it into pcs in a couple of days Never heard that its not good either. Would like to know more about murcury thing though Rana
2. Im glad hes doing better Hope you will see more improvement Let us know about the test results Rana
3. OMG this is so cute...I love them What did u name them???
4. Poor Kitten This parrot is completely in control of her...
5. I can relate to this. Kookie hates the guts of his harness. I can manage to out it on and then take it off easily. I do this immediately after Kookie's shower. As I towel him to dry him (which he accepts), I manage to put it on while he is still in the towel. He always bites the side of the towel, but this keeps him busy while I tighten the harness. I use the towel again to remove the harness in the same way. But once its on him, he is so nervous and pulls on it and bites it. I can feel he hates it and he is very comfortable and scared. Im even afraid he might hurt himself, so I removed it quickly. I figured that what matters is his comfort and happiness, and when harness freaks him out, he will never enjoy being out or anywhere. I have decided to let him enjoy himself at home the way he likes.... Rana

Post edited by: ranaz, at: 2010/02/21 20:27

9. Keep your faith and hope. We are all praying that you will find her. Keep the lights on on your balcony or perch tonight. Do you have a bushy area close by, or area with trees? She might be just hiding there. Tomorrow is a Saturday, perhaps you can get some volunteers to help you search for her and call her name. If there is a special music she likes, just play it on. If you have any recording of her voice, play that out loud early in the morning after sunset, she will recognize the sounds if she hears them. We will keep praying and sending good thoughts your way

Cinamon

Oh great, We will try them imeditely. I will make sure to wash them first just in case, bu I do not think they use pesticides on those, as they are ment for human consumption. Anyway will let you know how it goes Rana

Cinamon

Hi Everybody, Ive just seen a photo with a parrot nibbling on a cinnamon stick (The wood like roll). Is that healthy? Anyone tried with their grey?
13. Hi Sunshine, God bless u for taking on a 12 years old CAG, and Im glad you are getting along fine, just give him time to adjust. Ive taken Kookie when he was almost 4 years old, he was previously in a loving home, but interacted mostly with other parrots, rather than humans. He used to whistle and screech and only say 2 words, "hello" & "see u byebye" but week after week he was less stressed and more relaxed, he started immitating words, more like babbling than talking, but month after month he increased his vocabulary and now u cant shut him up. He still babbles lots of unclear sentences, interrupted by some clear words. He learns an average of 2 to 3 words or frases monthly. He learns tricks more quickly and is more an acrobat than a clear speaker. What I can say is be patient and keep talking to him, whether he immitates or not, you never know. The most important is that u learn to read him and communicate with him and this is the base of a long loving relationship between the 2 of you. All the best and keep us posted with your latest news. {Nature-00020095}
14. Kookie likes variety, so I offer him on daily basis fresh fruits and veggis. He lkes the okra, orange, corn on the cob, apple, guava, banana, chilli, capsicom, and sometimes pasta. Also he loves almonds and peanuts. I also give him dates (actually replace the seed with an almond to make it more interesting. Also pellets are always there for him. I use Harisons high potency formula in addition to Harisons power treats. He also gets some seeds daily. I guess the trick is to offer variety, I wouldnt stick to pellets only, you need fresh stff to keep him healthy and happy. {Nature-00020095}
15. Wow, this is amazing....the way they enjoy their freedom and wild life, it makes me wonder, do we have the right to take that away, just to have them with us. I mean we do give them lots of love and care, probably more food than they get in the wild, but still, where would they be happiest...??? {Nature-00020095}

17. Hi Ramsabi, There is an avian vet here in Abu Dhabi at the British Vet Clinic. I know he does regular visits to a clinic in Al Ain, which is a couple of hours drive from Muscat. If you cross the boarders through Bureimi to Al Ain side, I think they only check your pasports at the check point and they do not require visas, if you are a resident in Oman. If you like I could call the Brit Vet on Saturday and check on which day Dr. Jonathan will be in Al Ain. Also the drive to Dubai is around one hour, so you could still go to Nad Al Shiba if you want. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can do anything for you I will keep praying for Rishi my mobile is +97150 6120410 British Vet Clinic is +97126650085
18. OMG Im glad that preyers are helping God Bless him and make him halthy again Please keep us updated
19. Kookie loves being on the floor, he likes to explore my furniture and is fascinatedby glass cabinet doors. he loves watching TV close, but is sometimes scared when a big face appears on screen. he sometimes runs on the carpet, but noton the flor tiles, when hes bored he climbes back up to his playtree. I am mostly careful that he stays away from all electric wiring so Ive lifted everything up
20. I am sorry no experience with bumble foot, but is it painful for your grey? can she stand on it? Where did this come from? Is the vet an avian vet? If not maybe better to have a second opinion, cos a friend of mine, had an infection in his geys talon, which lead to cutting off completely one toe, so I am worried, especially if it is not getting better Please keep us posted
21. Hmmm interesting, Im thinking the same, cos every time Kookie sees another bird, he is so excited, even when he sees a parrot video on my laptop, he seems like hes gonna jump on it... So what do you guys think??
