I took Pepper to the vet today and they said she was in excellent health. Multiple times she told me how good she looked & how well taken care of she was. I also got compliments on how well she looked at the pet store where we bought her. But i learned sad news that at her sister died at 10 months old her lung collapsed!! I didnt know up until today.

what part if you don't mind me asking? i was born in VA also, however spent about 5 years out of it because of the military haha tell me about it. desserts are so good mhmhm

Aww!! yay She's finally 1 years old. she used to have a beautiful tail. i am really thinking its the perch placement tho. so hopefully now that we are moving it.. her feathers will be better:)

thanks for the kind words everyone. and yes i miss seeing her as a baby! it was a fun experience. she is turning one soon tho! july 4th. i still truly believe that my grey is so awesome because i spent on an average 14+ hours a week with her, cuddling, talking, and playing with as a baby.

Ok, thanks guys. I just wasn't sure. And to answer your question yes she gets lots of baths. She gets a bunch of them whether she likes it or not haha in addition to her giving herself baths. We think her one perch she sleeps on is too close to the other one and it hits her tail feathers. So we're going to do some re-arranging!

Pepper is a seemingly happy bird, and a pretty one at that however her tail is being ruined. I am thinking she picks at it while we are all at work, but we leave her toys to play with.. and I leave her out of the cage because my brother is here & he sometimes hangs out with her. She is molting we believe, and has been very itchy lately so we are going to the vet soon. I dont know if that has anything to do with it but I want her to stop ruining her tail =( Help! Thanks

no, we bought her the feather tether and she hates it. absolutely terrified of it. i am amazed of how well she behaves outside.. truthfully. yes i know it's dangerous but she can't fully fly and im always sitting there with her. however i plan on buying her the other harness soon. yeah i lovee her lol

well, my friend was giving pepper a bath by squirting her, she didnt seem to mind it at first she usually likes it. but she's been grumpy lately. sooooo i picked her up to comfort her and she latched her beak onto my braces and bent the wire which brought it forward. so, my lip was hurt along with my top braces wire. however, its quite funnny now. :laugh: pepper has decided when she's mad she'll go after my braces. other than that i havent posted in awhile so hi!! pepper is doing great I just found out she was born JULY 4th!!: ) which means she turns 1 soon. so stoked!:side: o! and heres updateeeeeed pics of my baby(= i wish i had videos of her everyday life haha i got pretty lucky with this bird. she has an awesome personality.<br><br>Post edited by: Brittany, at: 2009/06/12 22:55

Hello. Pepper is doing great, but she is molting. I have noticed she's leaving white flaky things around, and pretty itchy. It looks like dandruff, what could this be?? Do birds get dandruff?

aw. yeah true. african greys are such good pets, i am so glad i fell in love with them haha
