Gizmo is very clever, but isn't that one of the reason you chose a grey for your family? Now you have to outsmart him, or at least give it a try. Does Gizmo fly? Since he already knows what the perch is for, how about when you see him doing his potty dance, you walk to the perch with a treat and if he comes to the perch and does his thing he gets a treat and if he doesn't just walk away? Or when he does his potty dance stand by him and distract him by talking to him to get him to come up to you so you can pick him up to get him back to the old system. Good luck on winning the war!!

I ordered my cargo net. Been thinking about it for a couple of weeks and now I've gone and done it. Thanks to all this posting and seeing pictures of greys having so much fun in them my almost grey now owns one. So thanks everyone, I think!!!:silly:

Thanks for sharing your pictures of Talon and Rikki at play. Taking everyone's word on how much greys love paper and boxes, I have been saving all my empty toilet/towel rolls and all the little boxes, pill bottles and plastic milk tops I can. My kids think I've flipped and my grandson saves his McDonald's boxes for me, much to my daughter's dismay!!!:silly:

Hi David congratulations on your new grey. And happy birthday to you. You have called your grey she, has your grey been DNA tested and have you chosen a name yet? From your post, it sounds like your grey might be just a little nervous, just like you. You want to do the right thing and so of course you're anxious. Leave the door of the cage open and quietly and calmly talk to her. Read her a book, tell her a joke whatever just let her know you are there for her. She is eating sweet peas so try some other things, raisins, grapes, pieces of apple. Relax and give her time. If you get a chance we would love to see some pictures. Marius, very funny about the neighbor's tree!!! In Washington State if you cut a tree down you need to replace it, especially evergreens, perhaps if you left a gift in its place:silly: !!!

Back to the swap idea. I have a Jaffe fruit press to swap with ??? Used twice when I lived in the country now as a city girl I have no room. Anyone want to swap!!

Greg I'm glad you found a name you like, Kofi is cool sounding and sounds more like your sweet and curious TAG. Please keep us updated on Kofi's progress as he seems to be a very smart guy!!

Have you tried distracting her by playing with some of her toys with her. Talking to her or taking her into another room. Playing her some music. She might be just plain bored. If none of that helps I agree with Mark try the earplugs. Good luck with Chloe.

Congratulations on your boy, Sterling. After a rocky road, I'm glad that you finally have a grey of your very own. My breeder just laughs at me every time I tell her the characteristics a female or male grey is supposed to have, she calls them all "old wife's tales." As soon as you have a chance to post some pictures we would love to see them. And any and all grey tales are always welcome.:silly:

Do you have any pictures of your grey that you can post showing its tail so that our more experienced members can look to see what the problem, if any, there might be. Also a little more background on your grey's circumstances might be helpful, food, bathing, time out of its cage, and the like would be helpful.

Nora, I like the picture of Hootie on his back that is so sweet!! He certainly looks right at home in these pictures. I love to see flying birds, they are so free and beautiful. Thanks for sharing these with us.

Is this bird plucking, is its cage dirty and his food and water dishes filthy or empty? How do you know it doesn't go home with it's owner at night? Do you have any pictures of this abuse. If there really is abuse, contact the authorities, it's that simple. The Humane Society will check it out. Or how about your local bird rescue stepping in, contact them. Good luck on a solution.

All greys are different some talk sooner than others, some just make sounds. Some talk when you're not around. You haven't had your grey all that long. No matter what, just keep talking to your grey. Don't worry about it and just keep chatting away. If your grey never talks it won't be the end of the world but give him a chance 2 months is not that long. By the way, what is your grey's name?

Where are you moving to, Mars??? You know that this forum is worldwide. So moving, unless its to Mars or the Moon, isn't going to get you off the hook for keeping in touch with your real bird family!!! So DJ forget about the writing us off!!!:evil: :silly: :kiss:

Hi Joking, how is it going on your decision? I hope you have read through the threads here and they have helped you make a decision. Are you still nervous about meeting Paco? Sounds like he really needs a loving home. How old is Paco now? You hand-fed him as a baby and you have not seen him for seven years, but how old is he? Is he a talker and did you enjoy him when he was yours. I feel it would be a good thing if you could help him out of his lonely situation. Good luck on your decision. Hey Dave, I know you don't talk about your greys on the personal level but out of curiosity, what do you have? What are you pet greys, CAG or TAG and what are your breeding greys. If you don't mind sharing, if you do sorry!!!

Looking at the pictures you were provided with, it looks like the greys are all accustomed to toys, perhaps you can get a couple like the ones in the pictures, ask the owner what toys are your grey's favorite or which ones are in his cage? I would then get some like them. That is what I would do in your place.

Poor Pat how much more time until the isolation room is open?? What does Gizmo do when he hears Fergie?

Okay, I will be getting a TAG in late November, she is the youngest of 4 and up until Yesterday was the shyest of the batch or is that hatch!!! They are finally on only one formula feeding a day at night and Sweet Pea, what we call her because she was the sweetest, led the charge for the cage door at formula time. Millie, my breeder, a lovely 76 year old widow, tells me all about her 4 monsters once a week. Sweet Pea was hatched 8/15/08, Millie told me what she weighed but I don't remember, but Millie can tell me when I call because she keeps records. I love Millie she is the greatest. Hey Cindy, I spoke to Millie, my breeder, yesterday, do so every Wednesday, and she said Sweep Pea, that's what we call her now because she is so sweet, or was!!! Millie has the 4 down to one formula feeding a day so now every time she opens their cage they rush her and this time Sweet Pea who is usually the shy one, was right up front!!! Millie says she is not so sweet now-- she is right up there with the rest of the "monsters". Millie is so great she tells me all about the babies. She has all their hatch dates down and weights and has them marked with bands, expect for Sweet Pea because she doesn't band the youngest ever. Just her system I guess. Millie luvs these babies and she says she is their grandma, I guess because they will be going to their parents once they are truly weaned. Anyway I hear about Sweet Pea weekly and its great. And yes I can hardly wait until I get my baby TAG!!!
