Barbara, I am so sorry. Please don't blame yourself, you did everything right just know that, you did everything you could to help Shadow. In your place I would call the local humane society and see if at least they will go in and check this breeding facility out. See if it is up to standards. I would lodge a complaint with them or whatever local authority appropriate in your area. Perhaps that will stop this from happening with other birds and their potential owners. Ana Grey had her first real bath today. She loved it, biting at the faucet stream and letting the water run down her back. I thought she would fight it; but much to my delight, I was mistaken. She is now all fluffed and preening in front of her light as if she is getting ready for the prom. She is such a good girl!!

I too only give human grade shelled peanuts to Ana Grey as a treat, I just luv to watch her shell them, she is so delicate when she does it. Pine nuts are her other favorite which I put in the from-scratch corn muffins I make her, she loves them.
