Jen, your babies are growing so quickly. I luv going through this thread. I too am very curious about how you are going to part, or not, from these beautiful dolls!!
-
These are great pictures of Koko in his harness. I purchased a harness but frankly am a coward when it comes to taking Ana Grey outside in one, so have been reluctant to even use it. I am very curious about everyone else's ventures in this setting though. Perhaps your success can take any fears away. Please keep us undated on your progress.

This is a very cute story. I always luv hearing the funny and great things all the greys do. They bring such joy to everyone's lives. Thanks for sharing Eddie with us.

Most of you, if not all probably already do this, but just in case: My Ana Grey eats all the time, but alot of her food is tossed here and there. I know she can't be the only very messy grey with very bad table manners. Because of the very cold weather, with lots of snow here and there, wild birds all around are probably having a hard time finding food. From what I know of the member of this forum our greys get premium food and therfore have premium leftover. I gather Ana Grey's all up and place it outside in a spot I know wild birds will frequent. It makes me feel fantastic and I get to see alot of different winter birds I might not otherwise see. Merry Christmas and good fortune to all this holiday season.

Ambri, you have had your grey a long time, please post in the welcome room and introduce yourself. We would be very interested in hearing about your long-time friend. What is your grey's name? The welcome room is in the forums at the top to the page. Hope to hear more about your grey. -

Dave, the last thing I would ever want to do is get into a disagreement about greys or any bird with you, you are Dr. Flock, our Birdman of the Grey Forum, but I talked to my exotic pet/avian vet's office and they would read a lost bird for free if it were brought in. In my part of the country, the Northwest US, it is what our animal shelters and animal vets do. You are right, some people would just keep a lost parrot, but just in case... For the cost of $35 I am chipping my grey in the hopes that a kind person will try to return my pet if at all possible and I will do anything I can to see that happens with my beloved pets!! This is my personal opinion and, of course, I respect yours and anyone else's different opinion.<br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2008/12/18 00:47

Hi Lex, we have members from all over the world and a great number who are from the UK and their participation is appreciated enormously so you should feel right at home.:silly: If you have been looking around in the different forum rooms you know there is an abundance of information around for new grey owners. Is your baby a Congo (has a red tail) or a Timneh (maroon tail, bone colored beak). And have you named your new grey? I certainly want to welcome you with open arms and can't wait to see your baby's pictures.!!! Happy Holidays to you and your family!!

Wow, everyone must have more hard-nosed vets then I have. A couple years ago my vet put an injured kitten down free, has read a micro-chip free, and called me to come get my dog that someone had left with them after reading the animal hospital's number on my dog's tag, no charge! Or maybe because it's a small town and we're more friendly in this part of the country!!:silly:

I would get to know the neighbors. Friends will tolerate a lot from a friend that they wouldn't tolerate from a stranger. You had permission to have a pet right, so that is my best suggestion as well as keeping him entertained as much as possible, i.e., lots of toys; and keeping your grey in the farthest part or most centralized part of the apartment during the grey's noisiest time of day. Good luck.<br><br>Post edited by: Talon, at: 2008/12/18 02:05

I have pictures of Ana Grey using her right foot and some with her using her left foot. When I have her step up she would use her left foot, however I am righthand so I tried with my left hand and she then uses her right foot. So she uses whatever foot is most convenient-- in other words, ambidextrous!!! <br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2008/12/18 02:09

Boocha you sound so much more confident and relaxed with you decision, as it should be. I believe you have covered the care of ChaCha and Boozle very well with much care and thought. Ramona is a jewel and you are truly lucky to have such a great friend. I wish you and your family a marvelous and loving family time. Give Dad a big hug from all of us!!! Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!

If he is banded the ban probably has the "code for the breeder" and the numbers are month and year of hatch. Have you tried the internet for information on how to locate a lost grey through its band. Some breeders band their chicks at hatch with permanent bands and then if a grey is found they can be tracked to the breeder who can than track to whom they first sold the grey. I read this somewhere on the internet when I was first looking for a grey. Anyway good luck on you quest. I hope the avian vet can help. It would be great of the grey were chipped!!

David, it's nice to meet you. I'm originally from Fresno, California years ago, frankly California was always too hot for me!!! Have you ever had a parrot before or been around them? If you will go into the forum rooms at the top of the page you will find alot of different rooms to wander through and find alot of helpful information. Greys are very intelligent and need honest attention. Having said that, have you checked in your area for Grey breeders? Or the internet? As for pet shops if they are reputable why not. If you were in Washington State I know one great lady who has at least one baby Timneh Grey still available, but she does not ship. Are you interested in a Congo or Timneh Grey? Ask any questions you have and some of our experienced grey owners will be happy to try to help. Good luck in your search and welcome to the family.:silly:

This is great news!! Isn't it funny how much we humans stress over what we are afraid will happen and our pets generally take all in stride. If you do decide to get snowball a companion be sure to get a same sex bunny or there WILL BE a real flurry of snowflakes running around very quickly. If you get my drift!! <br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2008/12/17 08:13

Leanne have you taken him to a vet or humane society to see if he is micro-chipped? I assume flyers were posted in and around the area where the grey was found. Other than what others have already said, you have a huge heart to try and help this grey find its way home. Good luck to you and "Lil Wanderer," I pray he finds his way to a loving home.
