  1. Hi Cheyanne, welcome to the family. You have quite a flock there. Can't wait to hear more about all your birds. I was fortunate enough to visit Australia some years ago and see flocks of cockatoos in the trees and kangaroos bounding around. Australia is awesome. When you get a chance we would love to hear more about Micah, how old is he? If you have any pictures of Micah and your cockatoos we would love to see them. Hope to hear more soon.
  2. The Night Before Christmas A Dieter's Style Twas the night before Christmas and all round my hips were Fannie May candies that sneaked past my lips Fudge brownies were stored in the freezer with care in hopes that my thighs would forget they were there While Mama in her my girdle and I in chin straps had just settled down to sugar-borne naps When out in the pantry there arose such a clatter I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter Away to the kitchen I flew like a flash tore open the icebox then threw up the sash The marshmallow look of the new-fallen snow sent thoughts of a binge to my body below When what to my wandering eyes should appear: A marzipan Santa with eight chocolate reindeer! That huge chunk of candy so luscious and slick I knew in a second that I'd wind up sick The sweet-coated Santa, those sugared reindeer I closed my eyes tightly but still I could hear On Pritikin, on Stillman, on weak one, on TOPS a Weight Watcher dropout from sugar detox From the top of the scales to the top of the hall now dash away pounds now dash away all Dressed up in Lane Bryant from my head to nightdress my clothes were all bulging from too much excess My droll little mouth and my round little belly they shook when I laughed like a bowl full of jelly I spoke not a word but went straight to my work ate all of the candy then turned with a jerk And laying a finger beside my heartburn I gave a quick nod toward the bedroom I turned I eased into bed, to the heavens I cry if temptation's removed I'll get thin by and by And I mumbled again as I turned for the night in the morning I'll starve... 'til I take that first bite!
  3. A couple of the neighborhood kids came over to help me out today, Jordon, 16, to shovel my driveway and walkway; and Jessica, 14, to walk my Lily. I'm kind of everyone's "little old lady" in the neighborhood. They came in after doing these generous chores for me and played with Ana Grey. Jordan was amazing, he explained to Jessica how Ana would use her beak to climb on her arm and fixed Jessica's sleeve so Ana Grey could be on her arm without beaking her flesh. He explained how Ana's beak was like her hand and used it to help her balance herself. He told Jessica not to show any fear or Ana would feel it and would likewise react. I was very impressed with his knowledge and understanding of birds. He handled her like an experienced bird owner, and I know he has never been around birds. I was impressed and now I have a bird sitter if I ever need one. It was a wonderful afternoon.
  4. Congratulations on Zeus coming home sooner than expected. If you ordered your cage on the internet did they e-mail you a confirmation number? If so, I would give them a call or send an e-mail and find out the status of your cage shipment. Three weeks is certainly a long time to wait for a delivery. My grey is 4 1/2 months old and I move her back and forth between her large cage in my office to her travel cage which is in the living room all the time. She is just use to this so thinks nothing of it. Don't be nervous, you are going to be a great grey owner. Zeus is one lucky grey!
  5. Ana Grey always has pellets and a variety of seeds in her cage. She is a night time eater of the things in her cage because she spends most of the day out on top of her cage, on a side cloth perch, or in the living room on her playstand. At breakfast Ana Grey always has a corn muffin, she loves them and then oatmeal about twice a week, full grain cereal a couple of times a week, and eggs once a week. During the day there are lots of different fresh fruits and vegetables offered a couple of times of day. Right now Ana Grey is into fresh squash slices. Treats are almonds, walnuts, pine nuts and pecans. Quite frankly, because I live alone and so don't do alot of cooking, I have been eating very well, thanks to Ana Grey!
